My co worker swears by this place, and claims it's better than all taco shops near our work in the Carmel Mtn/Scripps Poway/RB. That said, we eat here a few times a month, even though it's 15-20 mins from our office one way. This location is randomly situated in the middle of a neighborhood in Scripps Ranch. What's nice is due to the location, we never wait long. Then the parking lot is tiny, but we always find parking. With all that said, the food is pretty great for us to drive this far for lunch. I love that they offer whole wheat tortillas, that's not typically an option at most taco shops. Their salads aren't the best compared to other shops, but still very good. My favorite is the one people seem to avoid (based on salsa levels) is the oregano salsa. So good! I actually sip the salsa from the salsa container with each bite of my burrito. Their California burrito is great, I like their fries, and it's relatively lighter and less greasy than other shops. The downside is that they don't include sour cream. Then another item I enjoy is the bacon breakfast on whole wheat tortilla. It feels light and healthy, then is great with the oregano salsa. I don't order this, but my co workers swear by the carnitas tacos. If you're willing to bust a mission to the middle of a neighborhood in Scripps Ranch, you won't be disappointed. The staff is always nice and friendly, and the food is great!

Tucked away in Scripps Ranch is Chile Peppers which has been a long established mexican eatery serving the local residents. I keep forgetting about Chile Peppers as it's location is directly in a neighborhood not near any main thoroughfares. After my sunday morning workout I decided to stop by as I was in the area. And of course I had to go with a breakfast burrito, filled with eggs, bacon and french fries. One notable difference is that the french fries are crispy which gives it that nice crunch like a hash brown would. Another big plus was the 4 types of salsa, from mild, green, hot and orange hot. Anyone knows that salsa can make or break a mexican food eatery. All in all, Chile Peppers offers a convenient option to those who are in the area. I will definitely pay another visit when I am in the area.

Used to come here in high school and 20 years later the burritos are just as good as I remembered. The bacon breakfast burrito comes with crispy skinny fries all their hot sauces are good especially the oregano salsa. Parking lot is small and can get busy early morning on the weekends.

I would definitely skip this place if you can. It's not horrible but it's not authentic either. I like trying new taco shops I haven't been to, too find my top 5, sadly this didn't even make my top 10 in sd. Just looking at the pictures on the menu I knew this wasn't a good taco shop but I got stuff for the kids and I tried it. Got the kids meal bean and cheese burrito which came with more beans, rice, a churro and drink, the one thing that I noticed was the rice was great. Now that tasted like someone's grandma passed down that recipe which I appreciate. The 'California' fries (which are truly just carne asada fries but with a different name) were big but didn't have sour cream like other places and very little carne asada, it was mostly fries sadly. All in all I wouldn't come here again knowing all the other great taco shops I'd rather have, this place was just not my thing.

Friendly atmosphere and good taco salad. I wasn't especially thrilled about the rolled tacos and wouldn't recommend them. My entire party did like the taco salad and I'd return to have it again. The salsa bar is open, which is much appreciated.

What a joke. Ordered 4 beef rolled tacos. 2 of them were just rolled fried tortillas - no meat whatsoever. Even the chain spots give you a little meat in their rolled tacos. Solid hustle, but I'd avoid this place at all costs.

Great customer service, and super convenient if you live in Scripps Ranch. Also, the salsas are pretty darn good.

I really enjoyed my Carnitas Burrito with fries. The carnitas were shredded and not fatty or greasy. That's always a plus for me. Unfortunately, the location is tucked away in Scripps Ranch and I will never be able to find it again. Seriously. Oh well.. you can eat here or take your food to go. They have a nice salsa bar too.

I enjoyed a very nice machaca burrito from this place. The burrito came with shredded beef, mixed with scrambled eggs, tomatoes, chopped bell peppers, and onions for about $6.50.The burrito was average in size and very tasty. The shredded beef was very savory, tender, and well seasoned. The eggs were soft and well scrambled and I liked that the green peppers still had a little bit of crunch to them, just a little. The tomatoes and onions were good intermixed with the rest of the ingredients. The flour tortillas was good, but excess moisture from the mixture from the contents of the burrito did get to the bottom of the burrito and made the flour tortillas soggy in places. I had to eat it quick.I tried a couple of the hot sauces from the salsa bar: a green and a red, and they were both good and offered a mild heat. The gent at the counter was friendly and made some good suggestions for a follow up visit.

I ordered 2 fish tacos. Unfortunately, when I took off the toppings, I found one 3 inch piece of fish (which was undercooked) in each taco. This was extremely disappointing and I did not eat them. The other food that I ordered (chicken tacos and bean burritos) were great.
