Nice quick place to grab a biteService is fast, ambiance is very casual!Got carnitas and chicken tacos and both had very tender meat and good flavor! Pretty good tacos but slightly pricey for what you get.

Solid 3.5 stars. I ordered the grilled chicken burrito on toasttab for lunch and it was ready on time. I noticed that there is an up charge for additional toppings (i.e. lettuce) that other Mexican places don't usually charge extra for but it was decently priced for the larger size burrito ($11) The burrito was piping hot. Black beans were cooked perfectly, not mushy. Lots of rice and very little grilled chicken though, I wonder if it is like that with all the protein choices. Burrito had good flavor overall and the optional hot sauce on the side had good kick! Overall not a bad spot if craving Mexican food.

This is my new favorite Mexican food spot in all of Boston. It's always fresh, filling, and delicious. I usually get the taco salad, which comes in a mini tinfoil tray with the ingredients lined up next to each other on top of shredded lettuce (corn, beans, tomatoes, protein). They also mix in a light dressing that enhances the crispness of the lettuce and overall savoriness of the dish. This, combined with the fresh crispness of the tomatoes and smoky grilled flavor from the corn and chicken, makes for a perfect flavor combination.Unlike many other fast casual spots that include basic seating as an afterthought, they also have a nicely decorated dining area (matching white tables and chairs and cool neon signs on the walls). Although I usually get take out from here, I would also enjoy the vibes of a dine-in experience.Ordering-wise, I never have to wait long, even when coming during peak dinner hours. It looks like most people order take-out through apps or online, which are fulfilled separately from in-person ordering. The woman who takes my order is always friendly and my food always gets prepared quickly. I also appreciate that they're open late (10PM most days, 11PM Fridays and Saturdays), as this provides a non-pizza option for a late night meal.

This place really showed me that just because somewhere is a chain, it doesn't mean they're all the same. My first experience with Chilacates was the one on Tremont Street, by Dudley station. The food there was so good, but this place missed the mark. What a time, too, because I was bragging about it to my sister, who lives in Orlando, and it was just mid. Parking is hard to find, but it's a nice little spot. Very clean, very organized, decorated very nicely. They have amazing customer service and they are very, very pleasant. The food is where the problem lies. I had the taco plate, which comes with three tacos a side of rice and beans. What you don't know is that it's a plate of rice beans the fixings for the tacos and then you make them yourself which for me was a little annoying because I could have just got a bowl. I guess it's also not a big deal, but trying to scoop that stuff in with a little Fork was tedious. I also got a fish taco, and it wasn't that good. The little pieces of fish just kept falling out of it it was messy to eat.

2 tacos was $15. To add lettuce to my tacos, it was $1 more. To get a tiny container of pico de gallo, $3. I have NEVER been charged for these at any other Mexican restaurant. Additionally, the tacos which were supposed to come with onions, cilantro, and radish, came with none of those (after clarifying I wanted those 3 things IN ADDITION to the lettuce and pico de gallo). Won't be coming back here again, charging that amount for toppings other than guacamole is embarrassing and theft.Go to Anna's taqueria instead which is a 5 minute walk from here, much much better.

The food is fine. It's probably better than you can reasonably expect for the cost. I was particularly impressed by the shrimp in my burrito bowl, and I know one of my friends was particularly impressed by the quality of the beans. The storefront is a hole in the wall in an area that is not really geared toward restaurants, so you can't expect much in the way of ambience. You also can't expect to have a conversation because the background music is loud enough to be uncomfortable. I was not terribly impressed with the service, although I admit that I came in with a big group. The staff was obviously not happy to have to deal with a big group, and they made their displeasure known. I ended up not getting what I paid for, but I didn't want to upset them further by pointing that out.
