Lately, we've been looking for places with more vegan and vegetarian options. We saw that Turmerica was a vegetarian establishment with vegan options. We were not disappointed. The person offered suggestions and warned about spice levels. She was so helpful and pleasant. We got a wide variety of foods to try. Just one word--Somosas. Oh yum! The corriander flavor was a standout favorite. Another wonderful small-bite appetizer was the Kuthimbir Wadi. They were small, fried little squares of delight. The Veggie Chop was sweet with mild heat. The Chana Masala and Malvani Mix Veggie, both served with rice, were equally delicious with a lovely depth of seasoning and flavor. To accompany the meal, we got Aloo Paratha (very mild and tasty) and Thalipith (full of flavor, green-y goodness and a touch of spice)--both perfectly cooked. Our least favorite item was the Pani Puri, but that is only because everything else was a knockout hit of joy to eat. There was also no better way to finish up the meal than with the Anjeer Puran Poll--this is an absolute must-have, fig-filled treat (available in other flavors). It was so soft and just amazing. We loved it. The only caution I have is the spice level in almost every item. I like spicy heat, always have, but I could feel the heat in almost everything we had. It was a slow-building nice heat. But if you are sensitive to spicy foods, tread carefully here. The restaurant was well-lit, spaceous, cutely decorated, clean, and splendidly colorful. Bathroom was also clean.Overall, can't say enough positive things. Very positive experience. Highly recommended.

We were 5 people, went on saturday for lunch from downtown Chicago to Schaumburg. This was my first time to be there but 2 of our friends has been there so we had heard good about the food there and the food was very delicious.1. We had puran poli, aloo paratha, utpam, dosa, thalipith, kothimbir wadi, panipuri, shrikhand-puri-sabji (loved this so much that had it twice) - Yes, a lot food and everything was delicious. With thalipith and aalo paratha they gave curd and tasty achaar (pickle)2. In dessert we had mango mastani and sitafal icecream3. This place has self order like to stand in a line and order food and someone takes a note of it. They give buzzer/pager/beeper - When a customer pays for their food, they receive a pager that they can take to their table. The pager is a small, rectangle plastic device that lights up and vibrates when the food is ready. 4. The place was clean and seperate restrooms for men and women.5. When we arrived, we wanted a big table and it wss not clean, the staff was not available but the lady (manager) went herself and cleaned it for us and did not ask us to wait or take other table. I liked this attitude of theirs.6. Price is resonable. For 5 people the food I mentioned above was more than enough and $110-120 we got these all dishes6. Why I am giving one point less is because I think they need to hire more staff. The person who takes in restaurant order also takes orders on phone. We ordered twice this and we had to wait for long to place the order, the second time as they were on phone. Food also came late when the restaurant was full. I feel they should hire more people.7. The second reason is we went for Maharashtrian thali, all the way from downtown to Schaumburg. I specially wanted to eat that and this thali is available only on weekends and it was not there. They gave reason as they do not compromise on taste and the person who cooks is not available and travelling. I appreciate them being honest but I think again business should not be 1 person dependent and yes even so they should have given it on their website. I visited their website before planning this with friends. So, I was disappointed that I did not get to eat Maharashtrian thali but rest all was good. Next time I will call and ensure that they have maharashtrian thali before visiting them.I will defintely go there again and recommend their business because the food is very tasty. Also, they are hardworking and honest. Clean restaurant as well.

I was impressed with this recent local opening - Tumerica has really been able to serve a variety of different types of Indian cuisine and do it well! My family came in on Christmas (they were open!) and we ordered so much - everything from papdi chaat to paneer butter masala and vada pav. I was really impressed they have a pani puri stand that serves each one one by one. Our food did take a bit for it to come out, but we did order a lot. They were very busy and the decor was beautiful, color and vibrant, complete with a large TV playing Indian music.Breakdown below:Papdi chat - LOVED! Authentic and the puris weren't too thick - it was a bit small though - you get 9 of them!Classic vada pav - pretty bad - the patty seemed prepackaged/processed, was flat, didn't have any flavor Kasta kachori - very dry and shell was thick, didn't have enough filling but the chutney helped the tasteMalvani mixed veg - great gravy! Similar to paneer butter masala gravy, thick creamy and had enough vegetables (can add more yourself to it and it tastes the same)Paneer butter masala - gravy SO GOOD standard but was creamy and spicy. Just FYI they only give you a few paneer cubes per servingFalooda - absolutely amazing! Been so long since I've had one, was authentic and strong-flavoredI think they could work on a few of their offerings (or even take them off the menu so the menu is more consistent - unfortunately my Mom's choices were all duds), but overall I am impressed with the variety of options, complete with a variety of ice cream flavors and how most of the options taste! The main thing for me is that they make things Jain-friendly for my family. As there is a large Jain population in the area it's very appreciated they are so accomodating and the main reason we will be back! Thank you for opening!

Putting Maharashtrian cuisine on the Chicago Culinary mapI won't lie, I didn't expect much based on the cheeky name and the lack of reviews. But Boy, am I glad to be proven wrong. If you have heard of the Vada Pao, but never had one in Mumbai city, you have not had it. My first rendezvous with this mythical indian fast food was at a Railway station Near mumbai. I've never found one that was this authentic outside India. To the ones who have heard of Pav Bhaji, The real deal is the Misal Pav here. It is, dare i say best in the country, if not as good as the ones you get in mumbai. The Owners are the greatest people who welcome you with such homely hospitality, It makes it feel so much special. The Restaurant itself is nicely set up with great music, lights, giving it the right vibe. This isn't a one trick Pony. This is the Real Deal. For my Desi folks: In a world of subpar to decently good indian food, This place will transport you back to memories you so long cherished. To The Vegan Folks: All of the food is Vegetarian/Vegan.Be adventurous, Talk to the staff and they will guide you. this is a place not to be missed.

In my first visit to Turmerica, I had a decent experience overall. I came across Turmerica on Instagram and decided to check it out. They specialize in serving traditional, regional Indian food. You can find on their menu food from the Indian states of Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Punjab. The dining area is spacious, nice, and clean. It's counterservice where you order and pick up your food from the counter. Utensils, napkins, and water are part of self-service. You order from the menu on the wall, and you get a buzzer to alert you with a buzz when your order is ready. We received good service. We ordered samosa chaat, vadaa pav, Maharashtrian thali (a variety of items made not by the restaurant's kitchen but by someone the restaurant owner knows who sells it through the restaurant), paneer tikka masala with rotis, misal pav, a drink called Piyush (made from a sweet dish made from yogurt called shrikhand, plus milk, buttermilk, nuts, and saffron) and last but not least, Indian paan ice cream which is homemade. The samosa chaat was very tasty. It had a good a bit sweet and tangy tasty with a slight spicy kick. The vadaa pav was underwhelming as it lacked good flavor, and also, the fried potato patty between the two buns was flattened as opposed to a fully rounded shape like it's normally served in Mumbai. The paneer dish had a nice color to it and was flavorful. We liked it. The items in the Maharashtrian thali were quite tasty and to my liking. Some of the items did have a bit more salt than to my liking, but they were not salty. The misal pav was decent, but the moog broth was very runny. The drink called Piyush was pretty sweet as opposed to what we were told, which is it will have a good balance of sweet (shrikhand) and salt (buttermilk). Also, the drinking cup for Piyush was pretty small (6 oz?) for the price they charge ($7), which we thought was ridiculous. It's definitely not worth that much, and for a unique drink it's supposed to be, it was just like drink liquid shrikhand. Last but not least, the paan ice cream, which was creamy and had a subtle paan flavor but not a rich taste. It seemed to have an underlying base flavor of something else blended in with paan flavor.Overall, it was nice to check out Turmerica. They have good food and drinks variety on their menu. They are on the pricey side, and depending on the dishes, the price to portion ratio can be off like in the case of Piyush and Vadaa Pav. But it's good to have a fast-casual Indian restaurant like theirs. Schaumburg is a good place to have it. Check them out if you haven't tried them before.

One word- Reminiscing! Being from Maharashtra and loving maharashtrian food since childhood this place gives you all the vibe. For me this was as if my aunt from back home is cooking for me. She knows how I like and here I am being fed. This is one heck of a place, newly opened in schaumburg and honestly never going back to other Indian restaurant to satisfy my mumbai food cravings. I ordered bunch of itemsCheese Pav Bhaji - could take more cheese, overall was good 5/5 starsKothambir wadi and malvani mixed veg - were my fav. 10/5 stars would go back just for these. They don't give free side of rice, so you would need to buy roti/rice to go with itChicku milkshake was great. However I like it thick so may be they are just blending chicku with milk only, so probably 4.5/5Gulab Jamun was tiny but was made to perfection 5/5. Lachaa paratha was good too! Overall I am extremely happy to visit them even when I was tired! I came out happy! :)The restaurant is self service! So you get a beeper and you go when your beeper beeps. So my interaction with the lady at the counter was limited. A good size family and friends owned restaurant. Where they got good foodie/mom skills working in the kitchen.

We hosted a family lunch for about 40 people at Turmerica, and they worked with us to design a custom catered menu. The food was incredible! We don't live in Illinois, and they made it so easy to work with them over the phone to host this event. We heard great things from all the guests who loved the food! It was delicious with quality ingredients.Shout out to their ice cream. It is some of the best ice cream I've had, and such unique flavors. I have a standard for ice cream, and Turmerica's ice cream simply slaps. The Kachoris were also EXCELLENT.
