I truly hate to do this update on Track's End because I really do enjoy the food but I was so disappointed when I learned after waiting for my food for about 20 minutes that it hadn't even been started and that it was going to take about 35 more minutes for the food to be ready. That for one blew my mind because it was just breakfast food. I mean eggs, bacon, hashbrown and toast. Why o Why is that a 35 minute wait. Yes there were other people in the Restaurant but I have been to other places where you can get your meal in less than 15 minutes and they totally packed and a way bigger establishment then this restaurant is so I don't know what the problem is at all.I also if it was my restaurant would have comped the coffee and just apologized for the situation but that didn't happen. I do truly like the young lady that was our waitress and every since I have come here she has always been nice.I don't know who the man was that was in the back that was giving her a hard time but I watched as she made up the pancake batter, took people's orders and endured his mess.I like this place so yes I will be back but never and I mean never if I only have an hour before my movie is about to start because I don't want to stress when I'm out I just want to relax and enjoy my meal.As always Yelpers...Enjoy!!!

Covid is done. Hire some staff and get this place reopened!!!!! Nobody wants to eat cold food out of styrofoam containers and cups, unless they work for the railroad and are at your motel with no other option. I was EXCEEDINGLY disappointed to get up at 7:00am and drive there for breakfast to be greeted by a note on the door with instructions on how to order food. I was more disappointed with waiting 45 minutes for a basic breakfast to go. Ridiculous!!!! I live a mile away and the food was COLD when I got home. Shame on you! Post when you decide your business matters to you again, because clearly as of now you've packed it in.

My dad and I have this tradition when I visit where he takes me to all Chicago staples that are off the grid and they are always so good! Tracks End is no exception. It's like cheers. Everyone knows everyone and they are all so friendly...in a southern way. The food is really-really good. Think IHOP but better quality and classic Chicago food options. The bacon omelet was the star of the show. OMG! I have never seen anything like it before in my life. It's literally a cardiac arrest wrapped in an egg. Apparently, all of the railroad workers come here when they are off work or in town and it is a throwback diner from times past. It is actually at the end of a track in the middle of nowhere Chicago. There is a really unique, casual vibe here. It was a good experience. Not so humbly submitted,Michael C.

Well I was on a business liaison and my partner introduce me to this restaurant and inn that support anybody working in the railroad especially in the freight railroad like CRX or Union Pacific or Santa Fe. Not the passenger like Amtrak or our local Metra. Anyway,s he had treated me here and I've never heard of this place in the south side. They were only for take out but they had a bench to eat outside early that morning before it got really sweltering hot today. I have the "Train Masters" breakfast which was a omelet of ham Swiss cheese and a side of French toast instead of pancakes because I didn't want to have a super heavy breakfast. Overall, the food was delicious for breakfast. Nothing underrated and nothing overrated if I'm around the South Side this is a hidden gem to eat here as well next to the other South Side American breakfast places but due to the pandemic you have to take this home unless you eat on one of the single bench that they had out there. the staff was courteous enough because it rained the day before to wipe it down and not sit on a wet bench. Other than that it was a decent and delicious breakfast I either recommend you come here and sit on the bench and also I recommend that you call ahead to place your order. The orders on the menu are based off of conducting and train-related situations that's why my order was called the "train Masters" breakfast.

This place is pretty clean, fairly comfy, and simply appointed. I first ventured in a good while ago when I stumbled upon it after leaving Walmart about a block or so away. I hadn't noticed it before, and was curious as to what it was, so I stopped in. Apparently it serves, primarily, as a cafeteria of sorts to the BNSF railroad employees that are housed in the attached domicile, but is open to the general public, as well. The night I stopped in they were closed, but the door was unlocked, so I thought they were open. They informed me they were already closed, but, graciously, let me view the menu and answered my questions. It took a while before I got back here for a meal, but my sister comes regularly with my niece and nephew. She's a big fan of the breakfast and the children's menu prices. Apparently, the portions are the same as the adult menu items, but the prices are halved. I'll admit that that is a good reason to frequent here.Anyhoo, we recently were hanging out, spending some sister time, and stopped in here to eat. The regular menu prices were only moderate, in my opinion, for what it was. This was diner-type, neighborhood-wannabe-IHOP-level food at slightly less than IHOP prices. I'll just say that I wasn't impressed with the quality of the food. The service, however, was pleasant, if rather casual. The server/cook/busser was patient with me despite my indecision and several questions, so that's a plus. If it weren't for that and the fact that my sister loves this place, this would have totally been a two star review.

I went to this place for breakfast because I had heard s o much about it. Different strokes for different people.I ordered the coffee and loaded locomotive. The coffee was really bitter. Told the waitress. She made more but I opted for the mountain dew instead. Received my food. Wasnt what I expected. Didnt look loaded to me except for all the crumbled up over cooked bacon. Could barely locate my eggs or hash browns on the plate. Someone else on the restaurant complain and they gave her more. My texas toast looked like regular white bread. Almost forgot the coffee instantly gave me a headache and that was just from two spoons of it. I only given them 2 stars because of customer service was good.

Food and prices are average, and the service is hit or miss due to staffing issues. I have been here many times. The place is clean most of the time it is open to the public, but the restroom seems overlooked often.

We were drawn here because of the smell as we left the Aldi grocery store just to the north of this place. It is well-hidden on Holland Drive, but we found an entry point and decided to check it out. I'm glad we did! It is a warm, inviting diner-like atmosphere with the friendly service expected. The family staff was responsive and attentive, even though we ordered food to go. The cook did a few "special preparations" as we ordered something(s) differently than it was on the menu. In case you're curious, it's Friday evening around 8pm.

Phone orders only and no dine in? It's late 2022. Completely ridiculous - how they're in business I'll knew understand.
