Hoe Toy Chop Suey

Not sure what the fuss is all about. The food is #meh! My boyfriend likes this place, but The Mongolian Beef WAS NOT good... Bland, and the meat had no color to it. Just swimming around in gelatinous brown gravy.The combination fried rice was simply mediocre.I REALLY HATE WHEN HE SUGGESTS THIS PLACE, BUT TO KEEP THE PEACE I GIVE IN.

Okay I'm biased. I've been eating here for 20+ years, for a while they fell off (those who know, know), but they got back on track and I love them.Is the customer service questionable? Possibly, but you're not coming here for that, you're coming for good (and sometimes greasy) Chinese food to eat at home, and they are not mean, just busy, and you should have less than 2 minutes of interaction if you know your order in advance. Do they charge for chopsticks? Yes (ugh), but we know that a norm on the south side. Here is what I keep in rotation for orders:Szechwan chicken (unique recipe and no one else I've seen makes it like them)Plain fried rice (I get mine spicy and dark with no bean sprouts)Cantonese pan fried noodles (plain and lightly fried with extra green onion)Crab rangoon Mongolian beefChicken noodle soup (when I'm sick)Friends faves:DuckShrimp with lobster sauce (my friend has been eating this for 20 years)I've tried the lo mein noodles and they are good, I would kinda pass on the egg rolls and the fried scallops. The salt and pepper shrimp were pretty good, but if you like those dishes, I think they're better eaten fresh from a kitchen and lose their crispiness during travel.This spot is a gem to me and a must stop!

I ordered through GrubHub at 11:45, by 11:52 my food was in the drivers car. I already knew something didn't seem right. My sesame chicken was awful. It was over cooked and extremely dry. You can tell it was old chicken and reheated. The price was good. $9.50 for a quart of chicken and a pint of rice. Crab Rangoon was delicious and my fiancé enjoyed his chicken curry. The curry was also a good price $9.50 for a quart of chicken and a pint of rice. Not sure I would order again because half our food was not fresh at all.

Price - Typical prices. For some reason they have no lunch/dinner specials which is odd. 3/5Shanghai lo mein -Presentation - It looks delicious. Noodles are a bit fat & soggy. One gripe I have is that the sauce spilled all in the bag and there was a lot of sauce. Why you would put so much sauce in the carton instead of just having a sauce on the side in a plastic container I do not know, but...not a fan. Lots of veggies and other filling ingredients big chunks of beef. I thought Shanghai noodles were fried so having soggy noodles was a surprise. 2/5Taste - Uninspiring. The noodles are overcooked. The sauce is underwhelming and has almost no taste. There's a decent amount for what you pay for, but it's noodles so even if you're paying $10 for noodles you're still over paying for noodles. The meat has no flavor & is rubbery. 2/5Orange Chicken -Presentation - Looks good. Orange sauce is watery. Only a few broccoli stalks. 3/5Taste -The worst orange chicken I've ever had. The chicken is overcooked so every bite is like biting into a soft rock. The sauce doesn't even have an orange taste. The orange sauce tastes like salt water. Even the broccoli was undercooked so it still had the rough fibers, making it hard to bite into as well. 1/5Subgum Fried rice -Presentation - Looks good. Long grain rice. Lots of veggies. I wish I had added meat though. 4/5Taste - Bland. there's no taste or anything. You can't even taste the soy sauce... it's just nothing. I honestly don't even know how you can pull that off. Seems like it might just be brown long grain rice with minimal soy sauce if any, no sesame oil or any other other seasoning that gives it that fried rice flavor. 1/5Overall, this place seems to focus too much on presentation & not nearly enough on the quality of their food. While their menu items look good, they taste absolutely terrible. You do get some bang for your buck, but what good is that when you won't enjoy the food. If the phrase "looks can be deceiving" was a restaurant, Hoe Toy would be it.2 out of 5 stars

I got orange chicken and shrimp fried rice from this place. The orange chicken was over cooked tremendously and it tasted horrible. The fried rice wasn't that bad though. But I honestly could not finish my meal because of how bad the orange chicken was. Will not returning because of that. And then when I placed an order over the phone the man was very rude and snappy but when he gave me my food his attitude switched up, inconsistent.

I ordered food through Uber eats and was totally disappointed. Not with Uber but with this restaurant. The Mongolian beef had jalapeño pepper slices added instead of the traditional small red peppers. The dish was Horrible. The sweet and sour shrimp had so much breading on them which was over cooked. After peeling off the breading, all of the shrimp was shriveled, dried out small pieces. The combination fried rice I had to tolerate because I was hungry and needed to eat something after a hard day's work. I'd rate it a 2/10. The only thing that was good was the crab Rangoon and the bottle of sweet and sour sauce I ordered to keep in my house. Terribly disappointing. Would never eat or order from there ever nor will I recommend this place.

Lousy service and the servers has zero personality. They didn't say hello or thank you. They didn't even bother to look up to make eye contact. I will Never Ever go there again. I highly don't recommend.

The food that I ordered arrived on time and it was fully cooked. This was my first time ordering from them but I hope to return to their menu. I ordered scallops chop suey and shrimp subgum.

Ordered them on Uber Eats. Food was terrible!! Rice dry, chicken burnt and crab Rangoon old and stale. I tried to take the food back to the restaurant and the guy on the phone wouldn't even make fresh food.
