Coq D'or Restaurant & Lounge

I've always considered The Drake to be the epitome of the classic Chicago hotel, and I've always found the Coq D'or a classy throwback bar. We popped in for a late dinner last night (and to watch the Bears Hall of Fame game, which they quickly put on the television for us), and the experience was incredibly memorable. The utterly professional service by Jimmy and Polo is very inviting and charming, and they sold us on sampling a rye and a gin made specifically for The Drake. Both were excellent. We shared fish & chips and a cheeseburger, and you would be hard pressed to find better anywhere else. This is a fantastic place, and I can't speak highly enough about it. Pure class guys: keep up the great work.

What a lovely little spot. Beautiful restaurant inside the Drake hotel. We only stopped in for a cocktail, but it was very cozy. Maggie served us our drinks and was very affable. Look forward to eating here next time.

I was staying at The Drake and decided to check out their evening dining option. I came in around 9:45 PM on a Monday and this place exuded a vibrant energy (even though the lighting is dim). The whole bar was almost completely full and the restaurant still pretty packed but we were seated within minutes. Their drinks are excellent and definitely boozy, everyone in there seemed to be having a great time. I appreciated the vegetarian option for their burger as well as other vegetarian options listed on the menu. Their fries were also very crispy and hot. Overall I think this a great place as a cocktail bar and place to hang out!

Hey Coq D'Or in The Drake is an awesome Bar!! Great old school atmosphere in here and the service is fantastic!! The bartenders and wait staff are on point and very friendly. Solid bar food here as well Reuben is amazing!! Oh the Signature Cheesecake is phenomenal too!! Easy 5 Stars for Coq D'Or!!

We stayed at The Drake Hotel and wanted to stop by for live jazz music Saturday evening. We were able to sit very close to the pianist and singer. The ambiance is very historical, and the wait staff was extremely nice. We just ordered an appetizer and drinks. We didn't stay long because it was more live contemporary music than jazz. Also, my pretzel was half hard and half soft. But overall, nice experience.

Contrary to some of my fellow Yelpers I absolutely LOVE the decor at Cow D'Or!!! I LOVE the history you can see and feel as soon as you go in! Service is absolutely fantastic! I was seated right away and water also came right in.Reason for my 3 star review is exclusively the food I ate. I ordered the lobster roll and the bread was cold and the lobster had no seasoning. It was a good amount of lobster, but I had several pieces of shells in my roll. And that is just not acceptable from any restaurant, but particularly not from the restaurant at The Drake. I will definitely come back because of the ambience and the staff, but will be ordering something else.

Cool little place at the bottom of The Drake hotel with an old school feel and plenty of history. The service is pretty solid, but for such a neat bar, the drinks were definitely a bit underwhelming. While there is definitely something to sticking with the classics, when the ice waters down your Old Fashioned, it takes away from the end result dramatically.The shrimp cocktail was awesome. One of the best cocktail sauces I've had outside of St. Elmo's in Indianapolis. As for the well-known Bookbinder Soup, it wasn't anything great. Why it's so well-known in this specific instance is a bit beyond me. You won't be disappointed, but it's also closer to a fancied up tomato soup than anything extraordinary.

Great little hotel bar, with food and an upscale vibe. We sat at the bar and were served by Polo who mixed up some fabulous drinks for us. It was very busy but despite that we had exceptional service. We ordered the Bavarian pretzel to share and it was quite good!

I stopped in for lunch and was greeted by a friendly server/ bartender, Katia. I had a Ruben sandwich, which was perfectly prepared and delicious. The room is rather dark and has a very comfortable club like feel.I'll definitely be going back to try some of their other tasty menus items.

This bar is soooo fun. My husband and I usually stop in for a drink or two while staying at The Drake over the Christmas holidays as is our tradition. I love the dark paneled walls and the paintings. It's such a unique place. We tried to go for dinner last week with my husband's siblings and spouses but they were way to busy , so we ate at a restaurant down the street. This was kind of sad as I was really excited about their menu, but what can you do? Maybe next year! We came back after we ate for drinks and it had cleared out by then so we were able to sit down no problem. The guys all had delicious whiskey cocktails while us girls had vodka based. I'm more of a whiskey drinker and while my drink was good I definitely have to admit that I had drink envy after trying my husband's!!
