Chicago Sushi is a casual restaurant that serves delicious Japanese cuisine. I discovered this restaurant because it is located next to Chicago Ramen, where I recently ate. I'm also curious if this is a sister company to Chicago Ramen. The setting is quiet possibly because I'm the only person in here other than the sushi chef and the waitress. I'm relieved to be able to eat peacefully after a long day at work.Their menu offers a broad selection of intriguing foods ranging from hand rolls, specialty rolls, rice dishes, and ramen. Unfortunately, my stomach is small, or I would have ordered the entire menu. While I waited for my meal, I seized the opportunity to browse the details of the area. It has many charming Japanese decorations around the interior spaces. I can't help but note that the main feature of the design is natural wood, which gives it an earthy vibe.As an appetizer, I got the fried oysters with drizzling tonkatsu sauce, which has a sweet and acidic aftertaste to balance out the savory of the oyster. It was served with a mildly rich and creamy egg salad on the side. My entree was the pork cutlets curry. The pork is thin and slightly dry. The breading appears to be unevenly coated. To season and color the white rice, dried seaweed was sprinkled on top. The curry gravy was the winner for me; it had a thick texture and an explosive curry taste. To conclude my dinner, I had the mochi ice cream. Originally, I wanted the green tea tiramisu, but they were out. I was disappointed because the mochi ice cream was presented in an ordinary way that I could easily acquire at a regular Asian grocery store. The service was quick. The meals arrived promptly and hot, and the service was decent but not overwhelming, allowing me to appreciate the dish.I'm pleased I stopped by because I would not have had the opportunity to try it otherwise. This will be my new favorite Japanese restaurant in the Des Plaines area.

I've been a big fan of Chicago sushi and they opened this place next door. I'm always debating between the two but the last year I've chosen to come here 90% of the time. This is a gem of a sushi place, and let me tell you, it's like no other. The hand rolls are a flavor explosion, and the chirashi jewelry box is a work of art on a plate. But what sets them apart is the freshness of their fish - the uni and scallops are always top-notch. This spot is a hidden treasure for sushi lovers, and each visit feels like a culinary adventure.

Finally made my way to Des Plaines. Really wanted to Chicago Ramen but the weather was way too warm for that so opt in for Chicago Sushi. Honestly didn't even know it was right next to each other. Tucked in a plaza so no need to worry about parking. We came during down time where it was past lunch and too early to call it dinner so it was fairly quiet and empty just how we like it when dining with a baby. They had a booster seat for her to use to plop on the seated bench. Really was craving hand rolls since my visit to Dallas and wasn't looking to break the wallet so really this is the bang for the buck when it comes to price point value. The spicy salmon hand roll was so good we ordered another one. Best consume once it hits the table! Also have been seeing the jewel box so that was a must for me and the scallops were huge! I'd skip the crab meat bowl with scallop, nothing too extraordinary about it. I wish they bought back the hand roll trio in stead of selling them just one by one.

I had the opportunity to check out Chicago Sushi. I was greeted right away and seated. The waiter was truly amazing attentive and nice. I ordered the shrimp tempura and it was delicious and fresh. I also ordered the Mexican roll and it was breaded and I didn't like it too much. Overall I would give this place 4 stars and would recommend checking it out.

One of the best sashimi chirashi I ever had, which comes in a jewel box filled with eel, salmon, tuna, ikura. I ordered the "Take" which is $15 and is enough food for 1 person. You do get a nice hot bowl of miso which is very refreshing. I do recommend the variety of hand rolls which comes to you personally from chef. We ordered a few salmon and tuna rolls. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a treat and enjoy very fresh seafood. Parking is limited as it is shared lot.

First time I was here was six months ago, and I have returned on a random Saturday for a late lunch time. Luckily, there was no line. We were seated immediately and got to order and food comes out very quickly super fresh and super hot. I will say since the last visit the menu has definitely grown, which is incredible to see with a lot more choices. They have definitely stepped it up from the sushi, the bowls, and the Ramen, and noodle soups overall.Service is still super friendly and not rushing considering that they weren't busy and this is definitely the unpretentious spot for good comfort food at a fair price.

I'm a big believer in the sister restaurant Chicago Ramen. Their spicy red miso ramen is probably my favorite bowl of ramen in the state. So I knew Chicago sushi wouldn't disappoint. We got two mains: Uni Pasta and Shrimp Dumpling Ramen. Also chicken karagge and a salmon hand roll. Did not love the Uni pasta. I was psyched to eat Uni and have some sort of umami style pasta but instead the whole thing was masked in a tomato sauce. It did not work and I don't recommend it. Also it didn't look like that in the menu picture - I so sad. If they can make the "pasta" less Italian and more Japanese, I think it could work. Dry ramen dishes are delicious. At the very least lose the tomato I've had the chicken karagge at the other Chicago a ramen joints, but this one was just a little less crunchy and soft if you ask me. Not a ton of crunch on the outside like I got at other CR locations so this was a bit off. The shrimp dumpling ramen was delicious. My wife loved it. When I tried the broth was so shrimpy! It probably had some shrimp infused oil in it but it hit you - in a good way! I recommend. I always get heavy thick pork style ramen, but this one was a refreshing take on lighter styles. The salmon hand roll was good. Sweet sauce on the bottom but too big to eat in one bite. I recommend since it was only $3 - so good value! I just wish they served me with some soy sauce and wasabi... I was literally just given the roll. All in all - while I didn't get sushi except for the roll, the noodle dishes were unique and I'd come back for the shrimp dumpling ramen. The sushi rolls did look good and so did the chirashi bowls, but maybe next time. Because it's in the Chicago Ramen family and they do not disappoint in what they do, I feel you'll get great quality sushi here. I recommend you give it a try!

Honestly, one of my favorite/best chirashi meals I've ever ever had. I had Chirashi Jewelry Box - it was beautiful and tasty; what sold me was the generous servings of uni (sea urchin). My dining friend and I finished off our meal with mochi ice cream black sesame. If you've never had black sesame, it tastes like an earthy peanut butter. If I ever see black sesame on the menu, I am down for it!

Let me start to say, that I ordered over 20 times from delivery apps. Most of the times no issues. But what I got served today was beyond impudence or gall.I ordered two items and both were just plain old sushi. To serve a customer old fish, are you kidding me?I received an old soggy hand roll, picture attached. It literally came that way.Probably from the day before. Slimy fish. The spicy tuna was over spice to hide the old slimy oxidized fish.I called the business to let them know what I received. The "manager" was slightly sympathetic. You lost my business
