Randomly found this place when looking for a burger in the area. It's a relatively small unassuming place with an outdoor patio in a strip mall. The menu has a couple sandwiches, a couple burgers, a couple dogs, and a couple salads. Not large but we still had difficulty deciding what to order.I went with the Breakfast in America burger and upgraded to truffle fries. Oh man the burger was near perfection. It had three slices of thick and smokey bacon cooked nice and crispy, a fried egg with a slightly gooey yolk, melty cheese, lettuce, tomato, and grilled onions with a large juicy patty that was flavorful and cooked to a perfect medium well. It was messy but oh so delicious. The fries were good but the star was the burger. My husband ordered the sandwich with beef and sausage which was pretty spicy. While good, it paled in comparison to the burger.Bottled water is complimentary which was a nice touch. Overall our total was around $30 and the portions were so large we couldn't finish. If I'm in the area again, I will definitely return.

Don't use a credit card if just buying a soda. Owner/ manager guited me that he loses money.$2.50 soda. Avg CREDIT CARD fees 25 cents plus 3%. So unsure how he would have lost money. Probably should renogiate your rates with your bank or move to Stripe. While he did push soda it to me angrily and said "just take it", he guited me that he'd lose money so I refused. Food looked good, sadly just wanted a soda the first time I ever stepped into this guys shop.

Honestly visited this place on a whim after an early movie in La Jolla, and I'm very glad I found it! The place has a persona of its own which brings a great experience. There is plenty of space both inside and outside, and you can tell people really like this place because it was packed. For me, the flavor was there but it was lacking some seasoning and spread. It was not a big deal, however, because the prices are VERY hard to beat! A burger, fries, and a beer for $10??? I felt like I was back in 2007! I'd definitely recommend checking this place out, for a solid yet affordable meal!

This was my go-to spot in college. The owner is friendly and the service was always good. One time I went with a group a friends and he recognized some of us so he gave us some free fries and a plate of pita with hummus and tzatziki. I usually ordered the big shoulders burger which I always enjoyed. All the burgers here have great flavor and hit the spot. I will note that how cooked the patty was varied sometimes despite me always ordering it the same way, but to be fair if you come here as often as I did, it's bound to happen. Also, I was sad when they slightly increased the price of the burgers, but in this economy I get it. The burgers are pretty big and come with a big pile of fries so I still think it's a good deal. You also get a complimentary drink which is nice. There's a handful of tables inside and a tv that plays sports. There are a couple of picnic tables outside too. The place usually had some customers when I'd go in the afternoon on weekdays and would sometimes be busier on the weekend. The food always came out pretty quickly though. I hope this place stays open for a long time because if I ever visit San Diego again, this will be my first stop.

Several years ago, this eatery featuring Chicago-land grub opened up in the Renaissaince Towne Center in UTC. The parking in this plaza seemed to feel narrower than normal, and depending on what time of the day you arrived, open spaces could be a challenge. A few tables with umbrellas were available in front of the suite while the inside capacity was sufficient for around two dozen customers.Looking at the menu, the only missing item from the roster of classic Chicago food was deep dish pizza. Beef and sausage sandwiches, burgers, hot dogs, soups, salads, gyros, and other sandwiches were the categories. All of them included hand-cut french fries in the price. I chose a Chicago Dog to start my meal. A 100% Vienna beef frank was topped with tomato, diced onion, relish, sport pepper, pickle, and celery salt. The combination of ingredients provided the perfect savory and tart flavors associated with this style of hot dog.My other selection was Da Beef which was thin sliced homemade Italian beef topped with hot giardiniera or sweet peppers (my pick) on a Gonnella roll dipped in au jus. The execution of this product was less successful. The meat was dry and more au jus was needed. A small cup of the light gravy should have been provided on the side for the diner to use if necessary. The sweet peppers were tame so I should have requested the spicier giardiniera. The french fries were shoestring thin. A thicker cut would have complemented the hot dog and sandwich much better. The service from the worker was pleasant as not only did she staff the register, but she also came to the dining area to bus the empty dishes from the tables. I gave a 3.5 star rating for my visit to Chicago Fire Grill.

This place is FIRE! Chicago Fire Grill is a fast-casual joint-- you order at the counter and they bring the food to you.You can't beat a $10 burger+fries+drink deal in the University City area. My 1/2 lb "The Big Shouders" burger was JUICY, and I always appreciate a beautiful brioche bun. Really loved the greek yogurt aioli on this burger too-- added a nice Mediterranean twist that seems to be consistent with the rest of the menu. The fries were nothing out of the ordinary, but good to munch on the side. They also have an Italian Beef that I desperately need to try... (Portillo's, anyone?)

Came here for the breakfast in America burger. it's unfortunate because I really wanted to like the place but the burger lacked flavor. I'm typically the type of person that asks for sauce on the side and never uses ketchup. But this time I had to use quite a bit of ketchup to season the burger. I wish they either put more sauce on it or seasoned the patty a little more. The fries were OK. Not the best because it's quite oily and a little bit on the soggy side. On the bright side, the people there were really friendly, very nice people. And the price was really good. I don't think you can find a $12 burger with bacon and an egg with fries anywhere in San Diego these days. I wouldn't mind coming back here, but I would not recommend this place to any friends either.

Truly truly a super delicious Burger. Please see the photos I took, they speak volumes to the quality. These are all Char-Broiled Burgers and you can easily taste the char. The value is there too! A Cheese Burger, L.T.O. (grilled onions) also free Bottled Arrowhead Water, and Seasoned Fries all for a mere ten bucks!!! Fast service and easy parking. Best Burger I've had in months folks; especially at this incredible price point. Extraordinary. My new Burger stop for sure! I'll never go anywhere else.I move around a lot, and I can assure you; that you'll not find a better or tastier burger anywhere in San Diego. Forget those tasteless other thin see-through burgers. I wish I could have given 10 Stars.

This is definitely a hidden gem! The price is so great for the amount of food you get. The sandwiches were pretty hefty and the customer service is great. You get a free bottle of water with your order and the owner is so friendly to everyone and always comes around to make sure you're taken care of. Food was so delicious, I'll definitely have to come back again soon!
