Cherokee Steakhouse, Marina & Campground

This place is all about view and the vibe. I showed up with a friend at 4pm on a Saturday not realizing they don't serve food until 5pm. We found a table, ordered some drinks and hung out until 5pm. There was a variety of patrons trickling in from families with young kids to older folks with their friends enjoying a cold beer on a hot day. Overall a lot of activity for people watching while we waited for the kitchen to open. We looked out at the marina and enjoyed the water view as the tables at the bar, high top and low top tables filled up. The servers were not attentive or friendly but they got the job done. We ordered the meatball with mashed potato shareable and a chicken sandwich with avocado, grilled onions and cheese on a brioche bun. The French fries that came with the sandwich were really good and the avocado was very fresh. I enjoyed the quality of the chicken but the brioche bun did not hold up to the sandwich and I had to eat it with a knife and fork. The meatballs showed up as with pasta instead of mashed potatoes like stated on the menu. The waitress didn't know why. Overall the atmosphere and shaded patio looking out at the marina are a great vibe and the food was good. They had a band playing at 8pm that started setting up while we were there. Next time we will go later for the music. The back of the menu says they will be starting a mimosa brunch soon...looking forward to that too!

Used to be good but the new owners took over and the food quality absolutely PLUMMETED. Took the family there for a nice night out and the service was fine but the food was horrible on pretty much every level. Chicken Tacos tasted awful; zero flavor and they were cold, not to mention the weird texture (probably old crappy chicken). I had the Ribeye and oh my gosh a PBJ would have been worth my money more than the crap they put on my plate. Again absolutely zero flavor, Meat quality was awful as well and it was somehow over cooked yet cold. I guess their new strategy is hoping that their customers get drunk enough to choke down their nasty food. Never Again.

Closed for business. The new place Cumberland canteen had staffing issues so had to seat us on the outdoor patio side of the restaurant. They brought my G&T with salt on the rim. Does that say enough? The food was good even if a bit overcooked.

Nit even sure where to start. Got here did not even know where the entrance was. Met another couple in the parking lot that they to had no clue where the entrance was. Once we got inside we waited about 10 minutes before anyone came and said hello. Once they did they did not even take our names for the "to be seated list". Walked away and then came back 10 minutes later to get our names. Then another 15 minutes to get us seated. The place was not busy at all with many open seating. Once seated noticed the joke of a menu. It is a concert menu and it is a joke. This place goes from a so called steak house to a joke hole in the wall. After waiting another 15 minutes to get a server to order drinks, which she screwed up. How do you screw up unsweetened tea and coke. You bring us sweet tea and diet coke. Once we got the food it was not to good. The tacos were rubbery and mushrooms tasted old. With the joke of a menu and the music was so LOUD we could not talk we decided to go to a different restaurant. I feel so bad I brought my wife here for date night/Mothers day.Over all this place is terrible and I will not be back nor will I recommend this place.

We've been going here for years. The current owners our doing a fine job. We sat outside and enjoyed the evening until karaoke started. The food was served promptly. The fish and chips were delicious! Our British friends approved. I loved that they were using biodegradable straws to help the aquatic life. Karaoke was WAY too loud and only one person got up from the crowd. The dj's young daughter sang. Great to give a child experience but she was also way to loud and definitely needed to be turned down. Another family was there with their dog. The dog was well behaved but the two children were running around the tables. I felt sorry for the staff dodging the kids. The interior could use a bit of love. I liked the ladies room was reconfigured. Cherokee was doing a fine job.

Took 2.5 hours to get our food. They suck. I can't even begin to say how disappointed we were. Plates forgotten, meals came out at different time. A total shit show

Disaster. Waited an hour. Then told at 7pm kitchen was closed. Wish I could say how good the food was but if they don't have any when you go there it's hard to say.

I have been going here since I was a kid so maybe I am biased, but this new menu and atmosphere is terrible. I get it, you opened a big bar outside so who cares about the food! The thing is if I wanted to go to a lake bar I would go to the rudder. I wanted to go to a steakhouse on the lake and that is not here anymore. The steak I got was a $40 ribeye that I ordered medium rare and got medium well. It was butterflied twice. That one of two steaks on the menu, the rest is just bar food. The service is also terrible, I don't think it was the servers fault as she had eight tables. Keep in mind the bar had four bartenders.Whoever owns this place now has ruined it and I doubt it will last too long in its current form. It honestly made me sad to see a place I had been going to since I was born (I'm 40) turn into just a run of the mill crappy lake bar.

This is now the Cumberland Canteen, rebranded with a new menu and I believe owners.This was a very chill, but busy, restaurant. It is right on the water so not only will you see others driving there you will also see those who live on the water boating to it. Whenever I eat here I always want to either move into a houseboat or get a house on the water so I can just boat up to it in my shorts and boat shoes.The food varied in quality depending on the time of day and day of the week you go. You will find it is lower during the week than on the weekend, but it is never bad. I have never had a poor food experience, I just find the cook and the seasoning is different during the week. We have ordered just about every combo on the menu and usually enjoy it all.**For the new rebrand, still see if you can be seated in the area facing the water, that way you can look out at ducks and such while waiting for food and eating.Parking is still plentiful but usually full close by, if you have someone with a handicap and no handicap sticker drop them off and loop around to find your spot. While you are waiting for your table you can go outside and feed the ducks and enjoy the outside atmosphere. They have a speaker system outside so you can roam freely and still hear your name when called.

We had reservations for a group of 17. There was one waitress to cover the entire room. The food we good, Generous portions. The service was very slow. We were there over 2 hours.
