I had the chicken with garlic sauce. The portion was generous, the pricing good, and the service prompt. I am a huge spicey food eater, and this did not disappoint. The dish was spicey, tangy, and simply delicious. It is not very attractive from the outside, but the inside is clean and organized. It would be a mistake to avoid eating here based on the exterior because the food is FANTASTIC!!!. It's a total do-over for me.

We were definitely surprised at how delicious this hole in the wall Szechwan style restaurant was. We came across this restaurant by accident but we knew our experience was going to be fun one the moment we saw the employee making the dumplings and noodles from scratch . This spot may be our new spot for stir fried shrimp and fried chicken wings in Cary NC

Coming from a large Metro city, I wasn't expecting such authentic, delicious unapologically spicy Sichuan food! To offset the impending hot meal, I ordered the milder General Tso's Chicken. I ordered the Dan Dan noodles which are prepared fresh and hand pulled. We can view this through the plexiglass. These were fantastic noodles! We requested "less spice" per the hubs prerence. Glad we did. The texture and flavor have me craving more after a few days. This is a different kind of heat. Not that spicy per se, but a lip plumping sensation (much more intense than applying Buxom lipgloss) causing my lips to quiver and strangely me wanting more. The texture and flavor had me craving this after a few days. Drinking water gave me a strange aftertaste on the upper part of my mouth. With this dish, complement it with a sweeter or mild dish. We will definitely come back to try other dishes here. The ambiance is more mom n pop with tasteful cultural wallpaper and clean restrooms.

We came in during lunch time (2 pm) but it was completely empty, therefore, we were seated immediately. We ordered a lot of entrees: cucumber with jelly, roasted duck, hand made dumplings, dan dan noodles, chili oil dumplings, scallion pancakes (not pictured), Szechuan crispy shredded beef, twice cooked pork, mapo tofu, and chili oil wontons (not pictured). Everything came out pretty fast, considering we were the only ones in the restaurant. It was pretty quiet in there. I don't think there was music playing, but being there with friends was enjoyable. It's worth coming here if you want to eat with a big group and family style.

Holy crap.I live in Winston and journey over to the triangle a few times a month for great food. This is in my top 5. We came early afternoon on a Saturday and the place was full, but not wildly busy. We waited maybe 10 minutes tops for a table, and immediately started watching the gentleman hand pulling noodles. I was playing a dangerous game: I'm a vegetarian, but I wanted DanDan. When our waitress came I asked for DanDan with no meat:SCORE! She said yes. My friend got chicken lo mein (no photo, sorry!!!) and I also ordered the cucumbers for an appetizer. The food came out quickly: DanDan first. The smell OMG. The look of the noodles OMG. I've had DanDan before so I know to give it a solid mix to coat all the noodles. Again: O M G. The red chili oil against the noodles! I snagged a bite even though it was way too hot: the CHEW! The numbing spice! Immediately my tongue and lips were tingling: Szechuan is THE spice queen. The cucumbers were tangy and a perfect balance to the oily noodles. My friend's lo mein was good. Was seasoned well and felt very well made - better quality/ingredients/care than most places. Big portions, plenty to take home and while it wasn't AS good, it was spectacular enough that my husband said we needed to go back.

My daughter and I came by for lunch. We tried 2 different dishes. One was the Dan Dan Noodles. The other was a very spicy beef noodle dish with a lot of broth. Both had the freshly made noodles and were delicious !! I especially liked the spicy dish. We couldn't identify what type of beef was in the dish. It's a small place and a lot of Asians were eating there. Usually a good sign of the authenticity of the food.My only complaint was that the waitress wasn't helpful in choosing a dish. It seemed English was not her first language .We will come back and try a non noodle dish next time. The spiciness was on point !

Atmosphere: Chengdu 7 is a quaint restaurant with its own noodle room where a live "show" of fresh noodles being made to order is displayed. Service: In the past, our server has lost our order ticket, leading us to wait for over an hour for our food. However, other than that one incident, the service has been fairly fast. Most of our food came out together. Food: We ordered the Sauteed String Beans, Dan Dan Noodles, Cumin Beef, and Twice Cooked Pork. There really isn't a bad order at Chengdu 7. The String Beans were flavorful, the Cumin Beef was delightfully spicy and tender, and the Twice Cooked Pork had a great balance of spice and veggies. We wished the Dan Dan Noodles were more saucy and flavorful, but the handmade noodles were fresh and bouncy. Additionally, their portions are very generous and we left with leftovers that lasted us throughout the week! Overall: Chengdu 7 has quickly become a staple Chinese restaurant for its authenticity, tender meats, and filling quantities. We will definitely be coming back and trying more items!
