I returned with my family this summer, for the first time in 10 years, and somehow it's still exactly how i remember it??The decor... Looks the same, classic, a little old but well kept. Very nostalgic. The vibe is very loud and bustling (they were deep in the lunch rush) just like I remembered! The food, it's one step above hole in the wall chinese - cleaner flavors, less greasy. Still the same, quite solid. Clientele - still the same. A lot of white people, but a good amount of Asian ppl too!In addition to very classic Chinese American fare there is interestingly a fun special section of Korean-Chinese food like jjampong (it's called chef ping special Noodle soup or something) and tangsuyuk (not to be confused with the sweet n sour pork on the regular menu). I don't think I noticed that before. The servers are all trilingual somehow too? Pretty cool. The jjam pong hit the spot. It was very savory and comforting, and a step above mall food court in quality. Very very delicious. I would come here just to order more from the k Chinese menu. The lunch specials we got were also very solid! The place is packed at lunch for a reason, I guess. Hard to find a well priced lunch special in today's economy. The portion isn't huge, but it's very filling and comes quickly. The only thing that irked me was how they bring the Asian tables radish side dish, but none for the white tables. Since my table was not majority Asian I didn't get tanmuji :( tho I'm sure I could have asked for it.Nice to see a neighborhood staple stay unchanged after all these years. Hope we can visit again soon.

A couple friends hyped up Chef Ping for their Korean Chinese options. Most of the menu is American Chinese, but we were here for the Jajangmyeon and Jjampong. Four of us stopped by this past Saturday evening for dinner. The restaurant is pretty big and full of people. Fortunately, we were able to get a table without waiting. Overall, the service was quick and we got our food in a timely manner.SZECHWAN STRING BEANThis was fine. We wanted vegetables and the string beans had a good texture and the flavor was good. I would recommend if you are looking for a vegetable dish.NOODLE IN BLACK BEAN SAUCEI shared the jajangmyeon with a friend and we thought it was extremely bland, like they forgot to add salt to the black bean sauce. The black bean sauce had a strong black bean flavor, but that didn't help because it was bland. The onions and other toppings could have stir-fried a bit to bring out more flavor. Noodle texture was fine. This was meh.SESAME CHICKENThe four of us shared the sesame chicken which had a vibrant and tangy flavor. However, it was pretty dry and felt overcooked. It went well with rice, but this was nothing to write home about. My friends who ordered the PING'S NOODLE SOUP (jjampong) thought it wasn't too spicy and that there was a lot of sesame oil in the broth. I don't think we were too impressed with the food we got this time around. The portions were massive, though, and the prices were fair.

Very first time here for my dad's 70th birthday and was super impressed by the food. We had a private room that was ready just in time for our reservation. We ordered a bunch of dishes and I feel like this has been the most authentic chinese restaurants I have been to since living in the US. The place is pretty nice. But patking can be a bit of a challenge. We had Egg Drop Soup, Stemed Fish, Chow Mien, Crisoy Duck, Fried Lobster, Bok Choy, Beef and Tofu dish (forgot the name), Sea Urchin? At least i thibk it was. Everything was very tasty and seasoned well! I feel like the timing of the dishes coming out was a bit on the slow side but hey almost every table finished the food. Definitely coming back for more!Happy eating!

We came by for dinner on a Saturday night. There were 6 of us, we had called ahead to try to make a reservation but they told us that the tables were first come first serve. We came by around 5pm and were quoted 45 minutes for our table. And we decided to wait, hoping that it may be shorter but it truly was the full 45 minutes. Once seated it took about 5 minutes for someone to over to us to bring us waters. But after that we were ready to order so we put everything in at once and told them to bring it out as it is ready because we were READY to eat. Surprisingly all of the food came out quickly. We started with the crab shu Mai after being recommended it, unfortunately it was not a fave at our table. We also got the jelly fish salad, and the juicy wings. The wings were super flavorful and crispy, while the jelly fish salad wasn't my cup of tea, my parents said it reminded them of their childhood and they loved it. For our entrees we got the salt and pepper Japanese tofu, walnut shrimp, Mongolian beef, pineapple fried rice, canton flat noodles and a few other dishes. We loved all of them. The only thing we wish was that the fried rice, was more fried. It tasted like fresh rice with all of the ingredients rather than a true fried rice. But all of our dishes were fresh, not salty, not sweet and the portions were great for sharing and for the price. I wish we got to see a drink menu, we would've ordered some but I did get told they don't have fruit smoothies either. All in all, we had a great experience. But I think I will result to ordering carry out in the future rather than waiting for dine in.

Came by for dinner. Service was pleasant, ambiance was relaxed casual and the food was gratifying. Our highlights were the fried eggplant and fried rice. Certainly a repeat type of establishment.

If you haven't been to Chef Ping yet, you're missing out on the best Chinese food in the suburbs. This place serves dishes so delicious, you'll wonder how you ever lived without them. The Chef Ping noodle platter is an absolute must-try, with its perfect blend of flavors and textures. The Mongolian beef is tender and bursting with flavor, while the mo-shu pork is so good you'll be asking for seconds. The Szechuan eggplant as well as the Szechuan green beans are a crispy, savory delight that will make your palate do a happy dance. The ambiance is cozy and welcoming, and the service is always friendly and efficient. Chef Ping is the kind of place that turns a casual meal into something special. If you're in Rolling Meadows, do yourself a favor and give it a try. Your taste buds will be forever grateful.

What an absolute disappointment. I ordered the Peking Duck and I should have acknowledged the warning from other reviewers saying this restaurant uses flour tortillas instead of the super thin rice wrap crepes. The crepes are traditionally served with this dish and it makes a huge difference in the way it tastes. I don't know if this was just pure laziness or indifference; the thin crepe-like wraps are actually quite easy to obtain. Now moving to the duck...oh boy, the meat was super dry and devoid of taste. Something that was cooked, then refrigerated, before warming in the oven to crisp the skin. Granted I am only able to judge on this one dish, but from the reviews I thought this would be a decent Chinese restaurant. I would skip this one

King mushroom with tofu was a surprise hit! Sauted peapod was amazing. The gan pong family menu is killer, as is the jampong (spicy seafood noodle soup). We usually come here for family birthdays and celebrations, arriving early to beat the line and get a big table for all the delicious food!

I've lived in Arlington Heights for 25 years and have been going to another Chinese restaurant the whole time, but I met a friend at Chef Ping for lunch today.Let me set the stage--it was a Tuesday around lunch time, and the place was packed! Service was good. Now for the food... I ordered kung pao chicken, and it was delicious! The rice was really good. The veggies were fresh and tasty. I asked for a milder sauce and it was perfect.I think I found my new favorite Chinese restaurant : ) Highly recommended!

We came here close to 8 pm. You'll find parking in the front, side, and back of the restaurant. We only had to wait a min before they seated us. Service was superb throughout dinner. Our server put in our orders immediately. It took 10 mins to get all of our orders. We ordered walnut shrimp, crispy fried intestine, Ping's chicken wing, and 8 treasure. I'm going to tell you right off the bat, that portions were never reduced. They still make large portions enough to take home. I know one or two people said they think the restaurant reduced the portions but they're wrong. Remember folks, don't listen to anyone with less than 8 reviews. I would encourage everyone that reads this, to try out dishes they normally don't eat. Get away from all of the typical Americanized Chinese dishes like Mongolian beef, sesame chicken, kung pao something, etc.-Walnut shrimp 5/5 - shrimp is of substantial size, I was surprised to see how large they are. They were beautifully cooked and well sauced. -Crispy fried intestine 5/5 - very tender, moist, and full of flavor. You want to take a piece, lightly dip it in the salt, and eat it with white rice. That way, if it gets too salty, the white rice will help lessen that saltiness.-Ping's chicken wing 5/5 - skin was very crispy. I love hearing that light crunch when you bite into it. Good amount of sauce for flavor. It wasn't spicy.-8 treasure 5/5 - this one has sea cucumber which is pretty expensive if you look further on the menu. You get 8 different ingredients in here. They do have some peppers, I would avoid them if you don't want your mouth on fire.
