Good and fast food. Did not have to wait long. Mongolian chicken had lots of flavor, would get again. Hot and sour soup was ok. Definitely worth giving a try if in the area...

Chef King has been a place that I have stopped at for a quick lunch while working in Seattle a few times and once for a better meal with the wife.I typically order the twice cooked pork. It's my fav Szechuan dish and one I know how to cook myself. Theirs is perhaps the best I've had in the "dry style" meaning it's not in a sauce or oily finish. A wet version of this is good too but many places screw that up in my opinion. Their hot and sour soup is good too and I remember their won ton soup was too. They have a small parking lot but across from Fred Meyer in greenwood with a large lot. It's not very nice inside but this last time I was there just after opening and a cute young lady was very good at getting me served while feverishly mopping and cleaning the place. Quite a bit of seating. Not the greatest neighborhood so lock your car. I don't go out of my way to go there but would recommend everyone try it for sure!

Chef King is a hidden gem! To my knowledge it's the best Chinese food option in the larger Greenwood/Phinney Ridge/Ballard area.Very authentic Sichuan, the flavors are on point. Prices are also very reasonable as portion sizes are massive. Each entrée will easily feed 2 people or one person for multiple meals.Nice folks who run this place and some killer lunch specials too. Get the twice cooked pork for a classic intro to Sichuan food, they do it well. Or try other classic crowd-pleasers like Chongqing Spicy Fried Chicken (ask for boneless and don't eat the dried peppers) or kung pao chicken (authentically a step up from what you'd get at Panda Express). The Sichuan boiled beef or boiled fish are really good here for those who are more adventurous or who have more Sichuan food experience.Protip: many Sichuan dishes are supposed to be fairly oily - have no fear! Mostly it's clean, spicy vegetable oil that won't have you feeling sluggish afterward, even in beef or pork belly dishes.

This is the real deal. Great Szechuan food. First time in and we were pleased. Dan Dan noodles were a little different than I am used to, but still very good. Loved the Szechuan boiled fish!Enjoy!

Ordered from here on DoorDash and man am I bummed I did. Everything was bad. General Tao's Chicken was bargain bin meat at the end of its shelf life, it was dry, and the sauce was flavorless. Rice (both steamed and fried) tasted like the inside of an unwashed 40 year old rice cooker. Hot and sour soup was watery, and all sour, no hot, and no other flavor. String beans were over cooked and oily, but flavor-wise were ok - these were the only thing that didn't mostly end up in the garbage. Go elsewhere.

This place is not your typical Chinese restaurant. Their menu consists a lot of unusual dishes and names that I have never seen. The place has a small parking lot. Service was pretty good as the waiter was very attentive with our water and asked how we like our food. We were the only one in there so it was quiet. We got the following:2 flavor squirrel fish --- this was soooo unique and also really tasty, I love how crispy it was and how flavorful the sauces wereI don't know dish --- this was pretty good, it was a mixture of beef and fish and veggies in a gravy dishCold Sichuan noodle --- refreshing yet spicy which I love Overall, the food was good, I do wish they cut down the portion and price as each dish was pretty big and it's more family style rather than individual servings. Those 3 dishes will feed us for probably 2-3 meals at least

Went to dinner Friday night at Chef King. I was disappointed with the food, when I first went in, the smell of the place was reeks with the combination of musky or mildew and spoiled food. I was with a friend and I can't walk out because she was hungry and we were going to see a play across the street. We ordered chicken chow mein and walnut shrimp. The chow mein had too much garlic and you can smell the garlic, you can barely see many vegetables and at least it was hot. The walnut shrimp was over battered and the walnuts were hard and over covered with sugary glaze. The service was okay.

Great chow mein. Fast service. Decor and atmosphere felt similar to going to the corner noodle store when I lived with China. Unfortunately with a cost of more than 20 times more than I paid back then and there... gosh-dang-fudging inflation...
