Yume & Sizzling

Another 5-star meal... and I must say that I'm now addicted to their Chicken Katsu Don (Spicy!). Rice and Chicken Katsu are both perfectly done...but I think it's the tasty egg that makes this extra delish. I also tried their Seaweed Salad, and it was also so good!I only wish this place is open all 5 days of the week...not just Wednesday thru Sunday.

Happened to stumble upon this place when I was shopping at Super G international mart. We ordered chicken on a stick and it was gross- completely dry and flavorlessGyu Don was almost entirely rice with very little meat. The sauce was good.Overall, not worth the price.

Having coming from Chicago, I have been spoiled with great gyudon. I was so disappointed with what I got here. The beef was dry and didn't have a good mix with fat. There was absolutely no flavor or sauce. The bowl was 3/4 of rice and 1/4 meat. I went up to the counter after my first bite to ask if this was how it was supposed to be and the employee said he could give me some random on bottle sauces. Save your money. The frozen packs that you get at G mart for $7 taste 10x better than this one for $16.

Easy ordering on the touch pad.The veggie tempura was way too greasy and the potstickers nothing impressive there. Both were cold because she helped 2 customers figure out how to order va handing it to me.

My friends and I each tried a few different things on the menu. For starters, I had a few different types of sushi. I was expecting it to be old tasting as it was in a refrigerator but NOPE! It's super fresh.The salmon belly melted in my mouth. The tuna was the perfect texture as well. My friend let me try their tonkatsu curry and it was rich and super crispy. Same with the potstickers though I would have loved more texture and a better sauce. Overall, it was amazing how they were able to have such a diverse menu and keep up with the quality. It did take the longest to get the food from though. Given the quality though, it was worth the wait.

Located in Pineville, inside the Super G Mart at Alley 51 Food Court, Sizzling is a sister restaurant to YUME Ramen & Sushi Bar in South End. The cuisine is of western-style Japanese food. As you enter the building, Sizzling is the first food stall you'll encounter, and you can take a seat at the counter after ordering.The highlight here is the interactive dining experience. The food is served on a sizzling hot cast iron plate, which keeps everything piping hot throughout your meal. Every plate comes with a choice of miso soup or cream corn soup and either a cucumber salad or potato salad. For your entree there is a variety of meats you can choose from: beef, shrimp, chicken, or salmon. You can even opt for a combo if you're feeling adventurous.For my meal, I chose a combo of beef and shrimp. The plate comes with garlic butter, rice, scallions, and corn. You can decide if you want the garlic butter spicy; I chose the non-spicy version. There are plenty of add-ons available too, such as chili oil, spicy mayo, eel sauce, meat sauce, onion chips, cheese, kimchi, more corn, or a sunny side up egg. I chose a sunny side up egg as my add-on. Once the sizzling cast iron plate arrives, the fun begins. You mix everything up to continue cooking the egg and meats to your desired doneness. The rice gets wonderfully crispy, adding a fantastic texture to each bite. After mixing, you pour on your choice of sauce--either garlic gravy or sweet black pepper sauce. I went with the sweet black pepper sauce, which added a delightful punch of flavor.The cucumber salad and miso soup were as expected--good and standard fare that you'd typically find at a Japanese restaurant. I thoroughly enjoyed every bite of my meal, and the sizzling plate kept everything hot and tasty until the last morsel.If you enjoy fried rice and fajitas, Sizzling is definitely the place for you. This meal was so satisfying that it will be a tough decision on where to dine in Alley 51 when I return. The interactive cooking experience, combined with the delicious food, makes Sizzling a must-visit for anyone craving a unique and tasty meal.

YUME & Sizzling is located in Alley 51 International Food Hall at Super G Mart Pineville. They serve Japanese food, and on this trip I tried their Katsu Don Pork Cutlet, which I found to be quite good and reminded me of one of my favorite dishes in Japan. Service was very quick...I probably waited 5 minutes from the time I placed my order on their screen. While waiting I saw a couple orders of ramen that looked quite good...in particular the onsen egg yolk appeared to have that jammy consistency of a properly executed onsen egg. The outside of the store front is decorated to appear like the street view of a Japanese restaurant...exactly what you would expect in the scheme of this large street food hall. I look forward to trying more items from this vendor.

Offerings were great comparatively, although portions are on the small side. Sushi is a for a takeout option. Was excited to try their new Sizzling counter and even more excited about their onigiri because that's something you don't see everyday. But $9 for one rice ball? For a quarter cup of rice and two tablespoons of filling? That's extortion so I passed.

Miso was good, chicken katsu don not good. Chicken was rubbery, took 2 bites and threw the rest away. Hope it was just an off night. The egg in the bowl was good though. Disappointed, hope it gets better!

I like the kiosk they have for placing an order. It takes the pressure off having to be fast. You can take your time to look through the menu, see pictures, and decide what you want. The Gyu Don and Pepper Rice dishes are great! They are also quick with getting the food ready.
