Pleasantly surprised with our experience here!There are quite a few positive reviews on both Trip Advisor and Yelp which prompted me to "pull the trigger" on bringing a bunch of kids here for a Birthday Party.Located in a "store front" in the Gaston Mall near the Dillard's Clearance Center.Reservations were made and paid for over the phone. All we had to do was check in. Easy Peasy.As with any escape room facility they have different themes and difficulty levels. We chose the Secret Agent Theme. Although they are not directly aimed at kids, as long as an adult is present to supervise, kids can work their way through the puzzles too (with unlimited clues to help).The kids had a blast and although they ran out of time, still felt like winners.The staff members were helpful and friendly. At the end your group gets to wear costumes and have a photo taken (which gets posted to their Twitter feed).On a personal note - one of my kids built their own escape room in our house and was super thrilled when he saw we were going to Xtreme Xcapes!

We enjoyed the game but was disappointed when we were told our picture would be put up on twitter and it never was. We even tweeted them and messaging them, they never answered me and i never got the picture. Mind you this was the day we got engaged and it wouldve been nice to have a memory from it. July 22nd.Edit after posting this, they finally posted the picture.

It was our first time ever for an escape room and it was a blast! The staff was extremely nice and very helpful. We will try the other rooms they have when we are back in the area.

Our group had a great time. The room was fun, spooky not scary, and we took full advantage of the unlimited hints. very professional staff and clean venue!

Great place for small or large group fun. Easy to book. We booked online, got there early and was able to start our game early as well.

I booked online a few days ago for 1:30 today. The website was misleading as the F.A.Q. about children simply stated that anyone 16 and under has to be accompanied by a paying adult. There was no mention of the cost for someone under 16 and there was no mention of what ages are considered as an adult. With that being said, I paid for two adults [also, there is only an option for "adult", so everyone 6 and up is considered an adult, which is ridiculous and (again) not mentioned anywhere on the website].When we got there, I was notified by the employee that I would have to pay for my daughter (this was part of her 10th birthday gift) and her friend (also 10) that she wanted to come along. I didn't shoot the messenger, but did point out the aforementioned lack of transparency on the website. He said that I wasn't the first one to bring this up. My only option at this point was to either pay the extra $48 (double what I expected) or forfeit the original $48 due to their "no refund policy", disappoint my daughter and her friend, and have wasted my and my wife's time, my daughter's time, he friend's time, and her friend's parents' time (who dropped her off to meet us). I paid the extra $48, which cut into my budget for the week (that is less than a week's worth of gas in one car to go to work and back).This ruined my and my wife's experience due to our frustration, though we put on a happy face for my daughter and her friend. I was happy to see that one of the owners,a lady, was there when we exited so I could discuss my concerns with her. I was reserved in my approach because the children were present and I like to give people the benefit of the doubt and allow them to solve any problems.I was told by her that they have had "a few similar situations/misunderstandings" in the past, but not often and that this was standard for escape rooms. This was irrelevant to me because this was my first time going to an escape room. She apologized, but I hinted that I would like a refund of the extra $48 (I didn't want to be so blunt in front of the children), but she never offered. She stated that she would have the website updated to be more clear. They updated it and sent me an email.I replied:"I see that and that is a great change for clarification for future customers that book online. I sent them a response that thanked them for that and saying that is good for future customers, but doesn't help me and that I was highly disappointed that they didn't offer a refund for the two children. I added in a separate response:"Also, in regards to the impact of the extra cost reducing my money for groceries this week, I would like to say that I have two more children at home. $48 is a lot of money, especially with Inflation/rising gas and grocery prices. I asked them to reconsider a refund to which their reply was:"We do apologize that you are frustrated in the misunderstanding as far as pricing went. Unfortunately, we cannot offer a refund. When we spoke in person, we explained the way "tickets" work and that it was the same as bowling, movies, or putt-putt. We do take your frustrations seriously and made updates to our website within minutes of our conversation. Again we do apologize for any misunderstanding that may have been had."In a nutshell, the room was decent, but not worth the price. My experience was ruined by having my costs doubled due to their website's lack of clarification. The owner I spoke to was not concerned with correcting a mistake that she admitted was their fault. $48 is apparently worth more than their customers. Even though they have updated a portion of their website, I would like everyone to know that everyone 6 and over costs $24. Don't expect management/owners to take your concerns seriously and there are no refunds even when it is their fault. I recommend going somewhere else

This is so much fun!!! We had a blast! So much so we had to go back the next day and try another room! If you've not played here you definitely should! The staff are awesome and we really enjoyed talking to them before and after we played. Can not recommend them enough!! Thanks so much!! We look forward to the next rooms!! Jennifer & Michael

Staff was nice and explained everything. We had fun in the room, it was challenging but didn't feel it was impossible. Would definitely go back.

Polite and helpful employees. Easy booking. Unfortunately, the rooms were not as thoroughly and nicely decorated as I would have expected for the theme (this is comparing to previous experiences at Escape Rooms). I also felt the direction of the clues were not clear - you could end up with several unused clues at one time and you would not know which one would be used for which item in the room. This made it hard to complete the room in adequate time, particularly for a small group, since there was more trial and error.
