Windy Hill Orchard and Cidery is a small cidery about an hour outside Charlotte area. Our first visit to a cidery and we were excited!Small parking lot, but we were there earlier in the day so it was chill, not a lot of people. Check their site and social media for the days and hours when they are open!Cute place to explore, take some photos. They don't have animals around, my mom in law visited a few years back when they had some around.Lots of picnic tables to enjoy fun food and drinks. We started with a cider fight, a fun way to try everything, some were just OK, more like Kombucha, some had better taste like the peach infused one and the blueberry based one. I am not a huge hard cider person, but this was fun. They make cider cinnamon donuts in house, so we bought a 6 donut batch, on the smaller side, but nice flavor, soft. We got some regular cider (it was carbonated) and a couple of fried apple pies, all good. We also got some cider to go, which we enjoyed later, very fresh and natural. They have lots of jellies to buy here and fruit butters, great selection. Nice customer service, clean portable toilets, a relaxing place. It surely gives you that country feel! Nice place to check out if you live/visit the area. Great seasonal goodies for everybody!

I've made a point to visit Windy Hill for the last two years during the fall. It is about an hour drive outside of Charlotte but the environment is well worth it. I enjoy the live band music, apple picking, farm store, hard cider flights, and delicious apple donuts. Every weekend during the fall this place seems packed which makes sense due to the variety of activities, family friendly nature, and great service.

We went this past fall and our visit was just okay. It was a little lackluster. We visited mid-day on a Saturday and they were pretty busy. Parking is pretty tight. Be sure to look for the overflow parking (look for the signs) Although they were busy, the line moved pretty quickly. There is plenty of seating and port-a-potties available. We tried their classic cider and cinnamon sugar donuts. Both were really good. We then tried their flight of hard ciders, which I also enjoyed. They offer a kids apple juice but we brought our own. While the orchard is "Family friendly", it's not really kid friendly. We easily maneuvered our stroller, however, there just isn't much for kids to do. The Hayride is $3 per person (under 2 free), but it literally just goes in a very quick loop of the orchard. Nothing exciting at all. Also, there was no apple picking allowed. This was a pretty quick trip for us and I'm not sure it was worth the drive.

The Aesthetic: Family-friendly apple orchard with apple picking, cider, treats, and a live music picnic area. The Price: The orchard is free to enter, and the activities such as apple picking and cider tasting are paid extras. The cider flight we shared was reasonable for the high quality cider the workers produce. The Parking: There is plenty of parking in front of the orchard, and in a large lot nearby that takes about 5 minutes to walk to. My Order: I shared a cider flight with my lover to check out all the different flavors. Our favorites were the Ginger Gold and Rusty Gold, they tasted like the holidays and were so refreshing. We also shared one of the hot apple cider donuts, and it was okay, a bit on the sweet side for us. The Conclusion: I would highly recommend this orchard if you're looking for a fun Fall family day!

The cidery is a cozy place with bonfires and apple orchards, but the orchard we out of season(sad face). It has a rustic feel and is perfect for people who love cider. They have lots of different ciders that taste sweet or crisp. The staff is friendly and can help you try different flavors. Whether you really like cider or just want to try it, this place has yummy drinks with unique flavors. Plus, their donuts are soft, warm, and delicious! It's a great spot for a tasty and fun experience.

What more can you ask for on a cool morning like this. Apples and more apples fixed different ways at Windy Hill. We came in to try the cider and donuts today. The sample cider flight had a variety of different flavors from sweet to fall spice perfect for this pre fall weather. They give you a nice size for $14.50, not bad for a feel-good feeling. Lol, I can't forget about those apple donuts, light and tasty dipped in cinnamon/sugar. Just right! I'm mad we only got a 6 pack they definitely did not make it to the car. I even had the urge to try the fried apple pie. Damn, it was good, too. Oh, yea, you can also pick apples for $7 a person, but you need rsvp beforehand. They stay booked up, so book today for a few weeks down the line. You can thank me later with a like. There is plenty of parking if you start your trip there soon as they open.

Windy Hill is the place to be for fall vibes! We came on a chilly/drizzly weekday in mid-November (which happened to be my birthday), so it was very laid back with not many people around since it wasn't the season for apple picking. The two of us shared a hard cider flight, and we really enjoyed the various flavors! My faves were probably the Gala Peach and the one that tasted like Christmas (Rusty Gold). The rotating flavor when we went was pomegranate, which was fun to try and a pretty color. We also bought a half dozen pack of cider donuts and got to meet the orchard cat! You can buy apples and other apple products, including bottles of cider, at the store. There was a fire going in the fire pit, and the staff were friendly and chill. If not for the weather, I would have hung out here all day! See you next fall!
