Service was timely (could have been a tad friendlier) and the pulled pork sandwich was delicious (a bit pricey). Surprised it didn't come with chips though. And I had to track down the bbq sauces -- would have been nice to have a team member notice I was without sauce and bring them over. That said, the venue is great with tons of indoor and outdoor seating and the food was so good I didn't care about the price.

Food is always amazing here. Whistle Stop is a bit pricey but the food is great. They have inside and a deck seating. Deck overlooks the Swamp Rabbit trail. So there is always people moving around. Service was a little slow but worth the wait. Next place to enjoy a meal seat and talk and just let the world go by.

This was a last minute lunch for our family and once we saw that this was an old train depot/station we knew we had to stop. The food was very good and the service was excellent. Not to mention the amazing atmosphere! WOW there is so much to look at and talk about with the family. Would definitely recommend stopping if you're rolling through the area!

Fantastic spot! I wish there was some place like this back home. Food was great, they have a great patio and live music all the time. AND they have an Ice Cream shop right here so you can get you float on even at the bar.

We always love The Whistle Stop at The American Cafe! The train was running around the top of the walls which the twins enjoyed. We all enjoyed our dinner and had eight happy food lovers. We had grilled chicken sandwiches; delicious beef, potatoes and green beans; fried chicken and fries; chicken salad sandwiches and homemade cake and turnovers. The service was fast and excellent with our server, Wendy! We will definitely be back soon. Looking forward to the music and food on the upper deck this summer!

Passing through Traveler's Rest we found this unique restaurant. The service was amazing and food was great. They also are very kid friendly and have kids' meals that come in a train shaped box with a surprise toy. We were a large party and the service was 5 stars. I highly recommend and would be back if I'm in town again.

The service and ambiance were great, but the food was below average in taste and quality. The price was shockingly high for what you get. Quite possibly the worst fish and chips I have ever eaten. If they improve the quality of the food, this would be a great place to dine out. I hope they get it figured out.

Just "okay." Our party was two adults and two children. Pros: The ambiance is fun and comfortable--tin signs, historical photos, etc. Friendly and helpful staff. Fun things for kids: kids' meals come in a paper box shaped like a train, and each kids' meal comes with a toy. Each child was also given a coloring page and crayons. The fish and homemade potato chips were very good.Cons: It took a while for the food to come out, and when it did come out, it didn't seem worth the high prices. The barbecue sandwich was a disappointment: unremarkable sauce, and the meat had several large hunks of undistributed fat. The kids' hot dog looked pale and boiled. The yogurt offered as a kids' side item is just yogurt in a tube. Unfortunately, we wouldn't visit this place again. Too expensive for the inconsistent quality of the food we received.
