This is a neighborhood 'dive bar' or 'biker bar,' but it has been my husband and my local haunt for a very long time. This location of Whiskey Mill is in Gastonia, and the original WM started in Bessemer City, NC. The owner is a great gentleman and visits this location fairly often. The service is amazing, especially the bartenders. Everyone is super friendly. They really pay close attention to their customers. My husband and I usually sit at the bar and the bartenders are just on it. There's people drinking right and left and they sling drinks like crazy and they rarely get behind.Their food is also magnificent! They have a wonderful fried bologna sandwich that is true South all the way! Get it with chili, whiskey slaw, onions, and mustard (we call it all the way). That bologna is so fresh and it is at least three or four times the thickness of a normal slice of bologna. Another sandwich that I absolutely adore is their Philly cheesesteak sandwich. The bread is just right; it's a softer kind of hoagie roll and that steak is fresh and seasoned to perfection with grilled onions and peppers. Their pulled pork sandwich is also stellar as are their regular wings, boneless wings, southwestern egg rolls, and potstickers. The sandwiches come à la carte so you get to pick your side. They also have really delicious dinner plates; my husband loves their chop steak. When I'm not in the mood for a big dinner, I order their house salad with buffalo chicken on it, and it is huge. You can tell her we really love this place. The prices are honest and the beer is cold and the drinks are great. And I'm over the moon happy when their beer distributor can keep them stocked in Shock Top!!

A group of us were in town and this place was nearby so we decided to go. The restaurant has the typical sport bar vibe, no issues. The manager, Jason, was great. He spends a lot of time talking to each table which I found genuine. He was helpful with the menu options and his recommendations were what we ordered. The food was great. We enjoyed it and we will return if ever back in the area.

Food- ordered carryout and I ordered blackened grouper meal. I will definitely order this again as the fish was EXCELLENT! My husband ordered the bbq platter. It was delicious as well. Tried both kinds of slaw. The white is more of a traditional, and the whiskey slaw is spiced. Both were good. Hushpuppies were tasty, but a little too underdone inside. Service- friendly on phone and prompt when I entered to pick up my order. I had to give my credit card over the phone since it was over $30 , and I didn't mind. Ambiance - I ordered carryout, so I didn't get a feel for this place.

I admit, it ain't fancy! The ambiance is very "bar" like, so that'd get 3 stars. The server, Cat, was very attentive and friendly, she'd get 5 stars. The food is the star of the show. If I could give 6 stars I would! We got the appetizer sampler for 2, everything was delicious. I also got the pretzel burger. It was an actual pretzel bun!! The beef had great flavor and bacon was perfectly cooked. Prices were very reasonable as well. Highly recommend

First time in today. Nice staff. The food took about 25 minutes to come out and they brought the appetizers along with the entrees. The food was great except that it was barely warm which is odd considering it took so long to come out. My sister said no onions in her salad but it had onions so they brought out another one which took even more time. Also they didn't offer a discount on the error. May give it another try.
