I was about to start my evening drive to Greenville, SC on a rainy night and I thought about breaking up the trip to avoid traffic so I Yelped "dinner" , "Gastonia" and number 1 not far off the highway was We. Custom Kitchen. I have 3 rules when Yelping; stay in too 10 for location, check sample size (1.1K reviews), check newest Elite reviews.Check all 3 and headed to WCK. It's located in the historic district of Gastonia in a renovated building around the corner from Franklin StreetI walked in and noticed people were already waiting for tables and it was just after 7 o'clock. I spotted a bar seat in the corner between two sets of couples. No wait, good start.A couple to my right on the adjacent side of the bar we're very friendly and I ended up speaking with them during my entire meal. They provided me the history of the building. WCK is located.They were both archaeologists taught me many things about the history of North Carolina and about their travels in Germany performing cultural resource surveys. They were a local couple and seemed to know every other person in the restaurant.They made several food suggestions one of which was the southern meatloaf entrée. And on a cold rainy night in February, that one sounded most appealing.The meatloaf and mash potatoes tasted great and the company and dinner conversation were even better!I will definitely keep Webb Custom Kitchen on my radar when I am passing through Gastonia and I would recommend to anyone else do not overlook this gem! This is probably my fifth or sixth time dining at Webb. I just felt like it wasn't up to their service standards. I had ordered the French onion soup for my starter and I'd only took three bites before my main arrived. I had ordered it medium and it came out raw and cold in the middle. My husband ordered the same thing but medium rare and his was a nice warm pink in the middle so I just switched with him. I would've said something to my server, but he wasn't around. I guess I'm just old school, but don't think that you should be coming to our table removing plates before everyone is done eating. Then our server started telling us the dessert selections while I was still eating my steak. We didn't want dessert and said no thank you and I continued eating. We did not ask for a check, but the server just went ahead and presented the check while I was still eating dinner. We'd only been there 50 minutes at this point. My husband had to ask to get his water filled and when I ask for a second martini the server replied "well you threw that one back fast". As he was laughing. Our server was a nice guy and we tipped 20% but I just feel that the service could've been much better. He would've fit him well at Texas roadhouse

My Sister Mary's birthday and I wanted to make it a memorable experience.We went here for lunch since it's THE top restaurant in Gastonia in my humble opinion.We've both had such great experiences here over the years.She thought it was so funny that I saw Robinson Crusoe on Mars at the Webb Theater in 1967, yes that was only 58 years ago.We had a fantastic lunch thanks to our Server Judy. She was great explaining the menu, telling us about our various options which was very helpful.We shared the Duck Cigars as an appetizer; slow-simmered confit of duck leg in an ultra thin spring roll wrap, flash-fried with3 types dipping sauce. Absolutely delicious!For my entree I had the Wedge salad with the added salmon as a my protein.My Sister had the French Connection sandwich; shaved roast beef on French baguette with tarragon mayo, molten provolone and burgundy au jus.She said it was great!There was a 'glitch' with their software system so our meal was delayed. Judy communicated that to us so that was good but an unfortunate circumstance for a special occasion like a Birthday lunch for my Sis.Unfortunately parking can be a bit of a challenge. There is no dedicated parking area so there are just a few spots on the street if you're feeling lucky.We parked a couple of blocks away at the Convention Center lot which was free.

In downtown Gastonia in one of the original theatre's, is now a beautiful upscale restaurant. The service we had was impeccable and started with our server shaking our hand and introducing himself, the southern charm was real!To start, we ordered cheesy bread with a four cheese mixture,minced garlic, onion and herbs. Probably one of the best bread apps I've ever had. The angry lobster which was fried and lightly breaded lobster tails, were also delicious and a new way for me to eat lobster. The U10 scallops with lemon garlic risotto was were topped with mango garlic salsa. The salsa had a little too much acidity and volume but the scallops were cooked perfectly. Great time and look forward to going back next time I'm in town!

Wasn't invited by close friends to try this restaurant for the first time I will have to say the experience was mesmerizing and the view was very beautiful as is an old movie theater that they converted into a restaurant. If you ever get a chance, make sure that you sit in the balcony so that you. Overlook the whole restaurant and watch the silent movies that they have projected on the screen above. The food was amazing. We tried the meatballs the lobster tails and I got the bone in ribeye with a side of macaroni and cheese. Everything was seasoned to perfection and well deserved. Our waiter Angela was very knowledgeable about everything from the restaurant history to the menu itself so I will give her props as she's been there for about six years as she mentioned. The drinks were phenomenal, but do wish there were a little more tequila in the margarita.

Webb Custom Kitchen is a hidden gem and a must visit. The wait can be long, so I recommend a reservation. If not, there are a few local bars to check out in the area as you wait for a table. The food was yummy!! Our meal took an unordinary time to come out but our waitress checked on it and apologized. I would definitely come back here for dinner and/or drinks. I love that this building was repurposed into a restaurant, but they still managed to keep the history and memorabilia from the old theater.

We had such a good time!The service was so detailed, on top of things, and just a general delight. We had the cheese toast, I had a filet, mash, and asparagus with my husband having the short rib. All around just absolutely delicious.My raspberry 'Rita with a straw was beautiful and refreshing. But the space! Just really amazing and unique. I've wanted to check it out for a few years and so glad we finally did. Since the Olympics started last night they were playing old Olympics videos on the screen.Just thoroughly enjoyed myself.

What a charming place! It's absolutely worth a stop if you are in the area. I dropped in for a late lunch or early dinner while in town. I chose a seat at the bar and was captivated by the aesthetics and the atmosphere. The staff was welcoming, and the food was delightful! I really enjoyed the flash-fried lobster tails. The truffle fries were pretty good as well. The cocktail was okay. Nevertheless, the ambiance and the apparent history alone makes it a must-visit. I recommend making a reservation, as it seems like it would get busy during peak times.

Today we visited the Schiele Museum of Natural History & Planetarium and after looking at all the exhibits and watching the Beatles laser show we had worked up an appetite! We lucked out and were able to snag a table at this iconic restaurant 6 minutes away! We enjoyed lovely service and were able have a table overlooking the movie playing on the projector. This dining experience was incredibly unique and we enjoyed our cocktails and our meals. We had a great dinner but wanted to share a few things we noticed, for the Caesar salad, which was delicious (the cheese bowl its served in, is refrigerated till they put salad in it (it's too cold to be edible), the shrimp and grits (shrimp was over cooked and grits had some big inedible lumps), and the crème brûlée while made in house and good overall flavor, is refrigerated till served so the crème is cold while the freshly brûlée sugar was hot from the torch which isn't normal for this dessert. Other than these things, our dining experience and everything else we ordered was wonderful. Would recommend!
