Food isn't the best. If you want decent home cooked food the one in Stanfield is AMAZING

Delicious every time and service always great. Good prices. Small town diner and home town feel a plus.

This is a relaxed and fun very local diner. Not expecting much means we are usually happy however things go and we were pleasantly surprised at how nice and friendly this place is. We had the seafood platter and beef tips over rice. Both meals are very good and not greasy at all. Very happy with the table service. We'll take our Peach Cobbler of the day - to go.

Wayside was a very good place to eat at Oakboro NC. We'll be back soon. We had a fish plate and they were busy. The food came farely quick to be as busy as they were. Nice waitstaff friendly and very good service

Went here today and ordered the Country Style Steak (which they offer every day!). I had it with mashed potatoes and gravy, green beans, fried squash and cornbread. It was DELICIOUS! Very good flavors, all, some of the best fried squash I have ever eaten. The amount of food was such that I ate until I was stuffed, then, I brought home as much as I ate there! Staff was pleasant and good at their jobs. I may have a new favorite restaurant. Gonna try more variations of their foods soon!

Food is often luke warm. Mash Potatoes won't melt butter. Have been several times and it is consistently fair. They have daily specials of chicken livers, fried chicken, soup, hot dogs on Wednesday $2 for $1. Senior citizens discount onNice friendly folks.Breakfast is much better. Had to return here because the Eagles Nest is under construction.Every time I come here it gets worse. The college kids are home and I thought that might help. Ordered the special Chicken and Gravy over rice $7.99 (On the board as you walk in) When we got our food the sides were wrong. Plus no gravy... When we ask'd they said you have to request gravy.... Even though it in the name of the item you are ordering.... WOW.... So if you order a cheeseburger do you need to remember to say you want cheese?When we get to the register to pay it she says it $9.... what? The board says $7.99... then said the price at 12:30 hadn't been changed in the computer to reflect the special... We tell the them this is our last time there due to all the mistakes. To which their reply was... "Ahhh you'll be back"Don't hold your breath.... especially with a comment like that..

Nice little small town restaurant, probably the best in the town. Food is simple and sometimes very good depending on what you order. They do southern style very well.

The last 3 times I was there they've let me down. Service is ok but the food is horrible. Never again Wayside.

We were out for another adventure lunch, after passing through several towns were we saw nothing to interest us we came once again to Oakboro. This time we decided to give Wayside a try. After all the parking lot was packed. The restaurant was crowded with lunchers as it was lunch hour after all. We found a table mad were quickly greeted and given menus. They have specials and a good number of sides each day you can also order off the menu. We ordered and our drinks soon arrived. The wait staff are friendly and attentive. With the large number of diners the place is rather noisy. The food is pretty much your standard small town diner taste nothing special but good and hardy. There are numerous photos depicting life is the past of Oakboro that are interesting to look at

I'd give Wayside zero stars if it were possible. This is by far the worst restaurant I've ever ate at. I have gave them chance after chance to at least make me feel like the food was worth my money. I'd rather eat a handful of rocks than return here to eat ever again. Food is of the lowest quality imaginable. Everything taste like nothing. The only reason they have remained in business this long is because there is hardly no other food options in town. Don't waste your time or money eating here.
