Vell's Soul Food with a Twist

This place is a hidden gem. Tucked away from downtown Kannapolis is this gem of a restaurant. Lunch: $1 hot dogs all the way. Uses a great hotdog, not mushy and he's grilling them so they have a little bite.Dinner: Grab the Soul Rolls as an appetizer. Beyond that everything looks good on the menu. This place uses great ingredients and nothing seems premade or frozen. Don't miss this because it's off the beaten path or you haven't noticed it before!

1st time visiting but not last when in the area. Good, hot, well seasoned, made to order variety soul food. Friendly staff. Very clean facility but dated. We ate in but noticed most people were ordering to go or through delivery services. My husband was dying for some banana pudding. They had run out on Saturday but were making some. I mentioned it was his birthday and that's what he wanted and since we were eating in, they gave him some when it was ready. He said it was absolutely delicious and worth the wait. We got to go a child's chicken finger plate. DD was very pleased and happy. It must of been good because she ate it before I could snap a pic.

The food is delicious and fresh! I would recommend trying the soul rolls; it's a unique combination of flavors that your tastebuds will enjoy.

Great food ; yet they need help with service. I can not stress enough how good this food is. It's so good that they had to move to a larger location. Now, it is off the beaten path and you'll need to look past the old sign to get to the new store. Yet, there is plenty of parking in front and back.  They also require face mask which I appreciate for safety. Now, you have your pick of the litter for what tickles your fancy. Literally, EVERYTHING tastes great. I've had their catfish nuggets, burgers, Whiting, and chicken. But let me tell you about those Oh So Good SOUL ROLLS. Imagine Thanksgiving in a easy to eat egg roll package. I get the meal which comes with 2 and then I typically get 2 more because they offer then as a side. With that said, you must be patient. Usually, you had to call a few times to get through as the phone line is busy. Occasionally, I've simply had to drive up to get an order in. I will say that they have hired more help since I first started going there. Hopefully, the extra hands with help expedite their process.

Delicious. Fried chicken, collards, candied yams were all top notch. Turkey ribs were new to me and so so good.

Hmmm, I tried it once. The food was basic. Mac and cheese tasted like it came from a a box. Not a lot of seasoning, which may be good for some. It's okay for people who live in the community.

DO NOT ORDER FROM this place! We placed an order for the advertised FRIED RIBS - 3 orders of them and when we got our food it was NOT the fried ribs. When we talked to the owner to ask what happened he said we never ordered them that way and that he doesn't make mistakes like that. Lord help him...we all make mistakes and the very least he could have done was to apologize and offer something! Not that he will care but he just lost a family of loyal customers! Karma is real and it will find its way to you! #Disappointed!!

I ordered through Uber eats and the driver was Latino so he was denied the food so I called and the rude person that answered the phone said he will not give him the food I paid for when I finally got the food it was cold very unprofessional Never Again I wish it was a way to give this place 0 stars

The managers customer service sucks.. I've been working in customer service for over 7 years and would NEVER treat someone the way he treated me & others that were with me. DO NOT GET FOOD FROM HERE. I'm about to put out a petition to get this place closed. That manager finna be good and FIRED!

Great costumer service! Felt like I was at a family's house. Must have the candied yams and wings special with garlic parm was amazing. Super underrated spot
