"buffalo shrimp salad." Super breaded shrimp, iceberg lettuce, processed shredded cheese, and a tasteless pepper and tomato for color.

This place was great! Attended a fundraiser event in the tiki bar section. The staff was friendly and prompt, the food was delicious, and the atmosphere was upbeat and fun. We met the owner Shannon, who was a real sweetheart. I'm so glad this place is just right around the corner!

While they do serve food, it's really more of a Bar than a Restaurant.Located near where Slanting Bridge Rd becomes Campground Rd, it's been there for years. Dropped my car off to be serviced in Denver,( Air Compressor on the AC went and it's high 90's) and came back this way so decided to give it a try.First thing that hits you when you walk up to the front door is the sign that says "Members Only". My wife poked her head in the door as asked if they were open for lunch and did you have to be a member. She was told no but when we walked in, we had to sign a guest book.Later realized that this goes back to the legislation legalizing Liquor by the Drink that was passed in the late '70's. For a restaurant to serve alcohol, more than 50% of their revenue has to come from food. Obviously most of their revenue comes from alcohol sales so they have to operate as a private club.We ended up sitting at the bar since it was obvious there was no table service. After what seemed like forever, we did get to place our drink order. Looked all over the place for menu's or a menu board and did not find any. My wife asked if we could see a menu. The Bartender who turns out also the the short order cook said they only had one menu but we could share. Fortunately the menu was laminated so it could be wiped off.The Bartender/Cook kept disappearing and we later found out that she was trying to tend bar and go to the back and cook at the same time. Finally our of desperation my wife asked when we could order and how long it was going to take to get our food. The lady behind the bar held up her hand and said that it was going to take some time since she was the only one there. We ended up paying for our teas and leaving at that point. Other observations indicate that it could be a decent pool hall with some nice tables in the back. Does not appear to be the cleanest place in the area and one gentleman who may have been the owner had to get a roll of towels for the men's room. Again the lady behind the bar apologized and said she had not gotten to that yet.May be a good bar but would not recommend for dining.

Beyond nasty and they recently posted they remodeled LMBO ok they painted the stained ceiling which is already bleeding back through. The bartender was pleasant but her smoking while serving our drinks and walking into kitchen smoking was too much. You have to be starving to eat there..but the owner sitting at the bar flipping his cigarettes toward door that didn't make it what do you expect.. definitely will not be back and do not recommend this place to anyone

Gotta help Slim and them with a Yelp review. Actually, not sure anyone in the area gives a hang about Yelp, but there was the couple that felt they had to sign a guestbook when they came in that gave the Oaks one star. So just like I hope Neil Young will remember, no Southern Man needs him around, anyhow? I hope those folks know that they probably shouldn't stop again. My friend and his wife have been there, I dunno, five million times. And to my knowledge, they are not members. Even though he has his 'own' bottle of Crown XO stashed underneath the patio bar. Yeah, they have three bars, the one up front for the hardcore, the one near the pool tables and the karaoke, and our favorite, the patio, where a man can get himself some good old oxygen while drinking himself into a gin rummy.Twin Oaks = Fun

I have been in a lot of dumps before, but this one is especially nasty. The food sucked and was overpriced. The waitress took my drink order then wandered away for 5 minutes. I felt like I was back in the 80s because everybody was smoking. My salad tasted like gummy, over-breaded shrimp on a bed of iceberg lettuce. I've had better salads at Wendy's and not had to pay $12.99 for them!I was surprised that they had both GAY FLAGS and confederate FLAGS! That was different. All in all, stay home. The people there were not good company and the leftovers in your fridge probably taste better than their food. Dodge this bullet!

NO, its not a high end restaurant, but its the friendliest bar in the county. Staff is great, they always remember my name and beverage of choice, it is our band's favorite place to play.

Any bad review of this place tells you more about the person giving the review than the place it's talking about. If you got a stick up the tail pipe and can't relax to have a good time we'll that's on you. I moved to NC from Texas and this bar makes me feel at home and is worth the hour ride to enjoy the friendly staff good food good music and good times. Headed out there this Sunday for funday.

Absolutely LOVE this place. The staff is super friendly and affable. Patrons also beyond friendly. Food is typical American fare but I must say their burgers are insanely delicious! We just moved to the area and this is our official go to spot. Yes if you don't like cigarette smoke, go eat at some dull boring chain - god knows there's a million of them within 10 km

This was one of those hysterical picks, where you look back and say, "Wow! How did I miss THAT?" I like to explore local places--we are new to the area--so I thought I'd give it a shot. Before you read further, know that I'm a "mature" woman ;), have been to 48 states and 10 countries mostly without my husband as my business involves travel, and I like bars, so I'm used to eating and drinking alone at night in often mostly-male environments, although I do have fairly well developed antennae.Well, this was the middle of the afternoon, so my antennae might have been dulled when I parked at Twin Oaks, and I missed whatever subtle signals I was getting that actually made me pause for a moment outside my car, thinking, "OK, I'm going to be the only woman in here, do I really need this?" but went in anyway. The outside is not real welcoming, but that's not unusual out here in the country, and the cars in the lot were mixed, but included some late model caddies and other signs of civilization. Sign that says "members only" was surprising, but on I went. Once in, every (yes, all-male and not young) head turned, openly staring at me at about the chest level, although that's not a concept restricted to this place by any means. The bartender (a woman) was friendly enough and came immediately to me, which quickly reaffirmed I was notably out of place. When I asked her about the membership, she very nicely noted that North Caroline requires a membership if the place sells more liquor than food (another clue that even I couldn't miss). Being occasionally the "in your face, watch this" type, I still thought about planting myself down for the entertainment and later story value. However, the overwhelming cigarette smoke (probably also a benefit of being a "club") made the food idea less unappetizing, so I moved on to another setting. Bottom line: if you're looking for a GOB (Good Ole Boy) Shop where you can let it all hang out and play some pool, this is probably an excellent choice. The membership is only $10 for the first year ($5 on renewal). However, if, like me, you are female and fine at a bar, looking for a relaxing food and drink break, but not particularly interested in being looked at with dropped jaws as if an alien, you may not want to dig back this far in the woods. To be fair, they also have a huge outdoor area in back for tacos on some night, BBQ (of course) on another--and it may all be good out there in the open, although it did look like it might all fall down some day really soon. And reading the other reviews will definitely fill out the picture. ;)
