Please note, I went to tropical goodies 2, their smaller location. The menu was limited, compared to the main location. My order was jerk chicken, rice n' peas, cabbage, collard green, fried okra Mac n cheese, sweet plantain & coco bread. $32 total. Overall, the food was pretty good, and priced very fairly. However, I would argue that this is soul food over Jamaican .. . The jerk had a faint hint of barbecue. My tummy was very full and there were enough leftovers for the next day. I will return, but also continue my search for good Jamaican food in Charlotte.

When I say good, I mean GOOOOOOD! The mac and cheese by itself is worth the trip! Authentic food- have never had a bad experience there! Just make sure you get there early because food starts running out around late afternoon.

Officially my number one Caribbean spot in Charlotte! I have tried almost every spot around except here and saw it on the way to Cuzzo's one day and decided to get a plate.I got rice & beans, yams, oxtails, and Mac n cheese. Their oxtails are the best and most flavorful oxtails I've had. Every other side was perfect as well. The food was hot, fresh, absolutely delicious, and not too salty, which I find a lot of people's rice to be. This will be my go to for sure. The prices are also great and the portions are super generous, the place pictured below is a small plate of oxtails.

The Food was just "ok", but it wasn't Caribbean food. The food did not have the authentic spices and taste of the West Indies. I won't count this place out though. I probably just need to try something else. We ordered the fried chicken, rice and peas with Mac n cheese with potato salad, the flounder with rice n peas and oxtail gravy on all starches. The fried chicken was juicy, the rice was just okay, and the potato salad was watery. I've been told that the jerk chicken is really good, but as a Jamaican, it's hard to eat everyone's jerk chicken because a lot of places bake their chicken instead of putting it on the grill or in the pan. But I will try their food again.

Okay so this place. . . AMAZING FOOD!!!! I like to frequent Jamaica (on and off tourist land) and getting some curry goat that is full of flavor. . . . YES!!! One take away that I have is that they cook in bulk. So if you come in late, it may be a wrap for you. I came in ready to get some fried plantain, some chicken, and plate of curry goat. They were out of plantain, only had wingettes, but THANK GAAAWD they had my curry goat. Mind you, I came to the place late in the day. So I pretty much missed out on things because I didn't get their at a time where food was still being made.Now. . . . that MAC AND CHEESE. . . . delicious. I mean. . . man. I love a good cheesy mac and cheese and they used a different noodle which I AM HERE FOR. I wasn't much of a fan of the cabbage. The cabbage was super bland. Now, if you wanted to have a less heavy meal, you could probably ask to get the curry goat and replace the rice with the cabbage, because that goat was SSSSSOOOOOOO filled with flavor that it could have given the cabbage life easily. THE PLACE: As for sanitation, the cook had her gloves and masks while the cashier didn't. I wouldn't be concerned had she not started rubbing her nose due to an itch and . . . no sanitizer to get herself back right. . . . BUT I STILL GOT MY PLATE (lord keep me clean lol). She is a very sweet woman, but it was a toss up for me on professionalism. You could tell the cook was getting frustrated with her. You gotta find a happy medium. Oh, and this is not a place to sit and eat. There is literally no place to sit, you come specifically to come and pick up your food. You could call in, but if you ask me, you may as well just come, order, and either stand outside or in your car. Just being real with you.Long story short. . . the food is five star, but as for everything else. . . three stars at best.

First time for everythingI called my order in for Togo. The lady told me about 20 minutes but it took about 40.The place was packed which is a good sign. I ordered jerk white meat for both combos and only got it for one. Cabbage was ok. The chicken was great, hot and so was the Mac and cheese . I will be back but allow more time next visit.
