At the request from my granddaughter to learn how to make Barbie and American Girl clothes, I decided to learn a new skill...sewing! I spent my entire childhood watching my grandmother, mother, father, and uncle sew. They sewed everything from clothes, to curtains/drapes, and even kites (yes, my father and uncle made custom kites for years). I tried my hand at their machines several times, but was quickly overwhelmed and frustrated...mostly by the darn bobbin process! LOL Instead, I learned how to hand-sew. It's been a useful skill, but I was finally ready to make the leap. Thanks for my husband for buying me a machine for Christmas and then Jen @ Thimble Bee's starting up a beginner class in early January, I am well on my way and have my first series of classes under my belt...and an adorable pillow for my granddaughter as a result. Jen is incredibly knowledgeable and SO SO SO patient! The studio is awesome, roomy, well-equipped, and welcoming. I felt at home there from the first night. I can't wait for Beginner 2 classes to begin next month. Jen also offered classes for kids and teens. The teen class was on the same night as the adult beginner classes and they were finishing as we were coming in. The energy in the room was great and you could tell they were loving it. Their projects are so cute (pillows, bags, etc) as samples are on display in the studio. I can't wait for my granddaughter to be old enough to take classes. Oh - and as an added bonus....it turned out that the machine my husband gifted me for Christmas is the exact model Jen uses in the studio. It has made for a great transition from class to home.

Thimble Bee's is simply put, awesome. My Daughter has been going here for just about a year and loves it. Miss Jen does an amazing job making the kids feel welcome and most of all they get a sense of accomplishment by being able to make things to show off throughout the year. Blouses, skirts, shorts, tote bags are just a few examples. Thimble bees setup a tent at this year's Waxhaw Craft Fair and my daughter got to sell her homemade crafts during the fair and make her own money...what a great experience. What a great way to foster and gain confidence for young people in a wholesome environment! They have camps in the summer and workshops during the school year in addition to regular classes. If you're looking for something different for your child, that teaches them a skill that they can carry with them for the rest of their lives, Thimble Bee's is your place!

Found this little gem driving down into Waxhaw and investigated for my two girls (12 and 10). We started with a ten week program and they loved it. They are now enjoying Summer Camps here as well. I remember taking sewing lessons as a young girl too and wanted my girls to experience the same. They have learned technique and are feeling sense of accomplishment and satisfaction with their creations. Miss Jennifer is such a great instructor. My girls love attending her lessons.

Wow! When you enter Thimble Bee's Sewing School you are impressed by the friendly & fun fabrics and colors and neatly laid out learning studio. Worth the short drive south from Waverly Shopping to allow you or your child to experience and become confident around a sewing machine for basic or more elaborate designs/projects.

I was excited to see a sewing school in close proximity to my area. I stopped by, business was closed. Called and left multiple voices messages and even sent an email. No response or interest in my business. Wonder if the poor customer service of any indication of how they run their business.

I really wanted to learn how to sew, but as an adult, it's not easy to find really good classes. I didn't want to sit in a room with a bunch of really young girls who already know more than me! Thimble Bee's was the answer!!! They have classes geared specifically to adults offered in both the morning and evening. Sonia, the adult class instructor, is fantastic. She made me feel comfortable right away, and I learned so much from her. She is very patient and knowledgeable. I highly recommend Thimble Bees for instruction to both kids and adults. They also have a great selection of fabrics and notions for you to purchase at reasonable prices. If you want something they don't have in stock, they will order it for you. I have had numerous great experiences at Thimble Bees!!!
