The Ugly

C'mon, this is so not a dive bar, no matter what the media is trying to spin. Nor is it Ugly, though I love that name. Waiting room (or not) for the bougie Idlewild literally separated from this space by a black curtain (and sharing the same bathrooms), it's a dark and cozy spot where you can imbibe in low(er) brow beers and a limited cocktail menu along with basic mixed drinks. My friend appreciated the non alcoholic beer option.Five of us were able to fit in one of the large circular booths that make you feel like a movie star while we waited for our table next door. I really, truly like this spot and would likely hit it up on its own, that is without an Idlewild reservation. Sometimes you just want a plain old vodka soda, right?

Ugly does not describe this bar. They are classified as divey, but it was not. Bar with a wide variety of beers, whiskey, but no fancy cocktails and packaged chips and snacks. They have couch seating and bar seating, but it is small and can be hard to grab a seat. This is meant to be your late night bar and it delivers. They do have a photo booth and The Good, Bad and Ugly sign. Prices are good, service was great and it was the perfect late night spit for that last drink.

They call themselves Ugly but the inside is really quite charming for a dive bar. They definitely embrace dive bar prices though. It's a small area with friendly bar tenders so if you score good seats it is a great place to pregame, grab a night cap, or just enjoy some time with friends. The decor is pretty whacky too so that's always fun. Overall they deliver on what they say they will, they provide a watering hole to enjoy cheap drinks. Happy to have them around.

Excellent ambiance - divey and dark! They do everything they say they will. This is is the perfect spot for a simple beer, a nightcap, or maybe a handful of beers if you score a good seat. Great prices and service.

Straight up racist. Made a comment asking a girl who was literally falling asleep "how long she had been drinking." to see if she was okay. Her friend's (all white) got angry and lied to the bartender. They did not even ask my side of the story and told me to get out for inciting a fight.Note, I told the group not to be mean or rude to which one of the girls replied "hell yeah we're being rude." I guess being black in this bar doesn't afford you the opportunity to explain yourself.I'm also going to take this to the news, but the "punk rock looking bouncer also told me "the bartender didn't care about myself side of the story"" and that I needed to leave. So with that said, if you'r e a minority, DO NOT come here because if a caucasian says you're instigating your opinion doesn't matter. Ambience is nice, drinks are decently priced, they also have card games which are good.
