I've been keeping this spot under wraps for a while, but it's finally time to let you in on one of Charlotte's best-kept secrets. Tasty Bowl Subs N Such in Steele Creek is worth the drive. I originally discovered Tasty Bowl through a catering website when I ordered 60 bowls for my office, and the feedback from my coworkers was off the charts. After that, I knew I had to check it out in person.Today, I finally made the trip, and it was worth every mile. The location is tucked away in a corporate park, so you might think you're in the wrong spot at first. But when you see the wacky inflatable arms guy waving outside, you'll know you've arrived at Tasty Bowl.Not only did I get to try the food fresh from the source, but I also had the pleasure of meeting Raj, the owner. If you visit, you'll probably meet him too since he's always there making sure every customer is well taken care of. Raj is one of the most friendly, caring, and genuine people I've ever met. We ended up talking for over two hours about food, life, and world issues. He's the kind of guy you could've spent hours on the phone with as a kid, chatting away on a corded landline in the '90s.The story behind Tasty Bowl is just as unique as Raj himself. While on vacation in Jamaica, he hired locals to cook for him during his stay. He was so inspired by their flavors and techniques that when he returned to the U.S., he decided to transform his sandwich shop into what is now Tasty Bowl. After testing out his new creations with customers, they told him he needed to start serving these bowls full-time, and just like that, Tasty Bowl was born.Tasty Bowl specializes in hefty, flavor-packed rice and salad bowls with a variety of proteins, cheeses, toppings, and sauces. You can pick from signature bowls created by loyal customers or build your own from scratch. Tasty Bowl has many gluten-free menu items, making it a great spot for those with dietary restrictions. Whether you're looking for a bowl, salad, or protein-packed meal, there are plenty of options to choose from. If you come here enough, Raj might even name a bowl after you. I ordered the Cheezy Buffalo Bacon bowl, and it was fantastic. It came with buttered buffalo rice, grilled chicken, grilled onions, bell peppers, and mushrooms, all drizzled with hot sauce and shredded cheese. The spice level was just right for someone like me who doesn't like overly spicy foods. One important tip is to make sure to mix up your bowl before digging in so that all the shredded cheese melts and the sauces blend perfectly into the rice.There are many other signature bowls I need to try, and maybe one day I'll finally be brave enough to create my own bowl. If I do, who knows? Hopefully Raj will add it to his menu board so everyone can order it.Raj is also opening a Tasty Bowls & a vegetarian Indian spot in a ghost kitchen in South End, meaning soon you'll be able to order Tasty Bowl and Vegetarian Indian food through third-party delivery services or pick up late-night meals until 1 AM.This place is a hidden secret that everyone in Charlotte needs to know about. If you haven't been yet, make the drive to Steele Creek and see for yourself. It won't stay a secret for long.

The owner has a great personality! Tells it like it is. The food, I had a Gyro, was tasty. Had to try it with the 4.8 stars, I will be back to try more things from the menu!

The Korean chicken bowl I ordered was covered completely in a mayo based sauce. So much sauce that all the rice was drenched in it as well. I couldn't finish it. The chicken and rice had no flavor. The only flavor was all the sauce which was not good. Additionally, my order was wrong.

Far be it for me to submit a review about lunch, my experience here was so exceptional; I'd be remiss if I didn't say something. As soon as you walk into the unassuming business front, you're greeted by the owner who can only be described as gregarious and engaging. It's a welcomed and relieving greeting for a first-timer and someone like myself who has been lost in the void of post-COVID fast casual dining. True, this could be described as fast casual, but the experience of the owner (Raj) personally curating you a specialty bowl tailored to your liking is a cut above....everywhere else. You will be provided with samples almost to the point where you're full, or until you find the perfect bowl.The portion size is more than generous, no need for the large; just opt for the regular. At this price point, it's probably the best bang for your buck, I had left overs that could double as a another meal. This restaurant deserves it spot as the top 25 in the area, it truly is the The Tasty Bowl.

Full of flavor, excellent service, and the employees are friendly and more than willing to serve you a sample of your like before you commit to make a purchase that you might regret.

I went to this spot with a coworker on our lunch break. Neither of us had been before but the reviews were great and we were close by. It's very unassuming in an industrial area of Southwest Charlotte, but don't let that turn you away. The moment we went inside we were greeted by the owner who offered his help so we could decide what to order. He asked questions like are you allergic to anything and what spice level do you like? After that, he went to the back and made us a quick sample of rice with veggies. The sauce was heavenly and I'm not really a sauce girl. We ended up ordering a stir fry bowl with chicken and white rice. The bowl had veggies like broccoli, carrots, onions and mushrooms. The bowl was packed with flavor and HUGE portions. The owner Raja was so attentive. He checked on us to make sure we liked what he picked for us. I would recommend this place. They close at 4 so keep that mind when you plan out your day.

Just moved to the area and so glad to have found this spot for the first time today. Super personable staff and owner, right as you walk in they're asking about the types of food you prefer and offering helpful suggestions. Showed up certain I was going for a sandwich but after a sample of what they thought would fit my taste best I walked out with a Korean BBQ bowl with curry. I'd never think to order this dish in a million years, I'm too bland, but it did not disappoint in the slightest. Packed to the brim as was my wife's Greek bowl, both saving some for tomorrow's lunch. This place is exactly what I was looking for

If you're doubting if you should come and check this place out, let this be your answer: GO BEFORE THEY CLOSE! This establishment has phenomenal customer service as they are very attentive and aim to have you elated with the meal you choose. If you're unsure of what sauce or flavour you want, they give you ginormous samples to see what piques your taste buds. Raja and his entire staff go above and beyond to make sure you enjoy. This is my second time dining and it was even better than the first. The food is so fresh-- I nearly burned my mouth biting my sandwich. If it's a day like today, be sure to dine on the patio. Both times I ordered the Asian Philly Cheesesteak which is a normal one with teriyaki, I also got one of their many hot sauces added on top. For $15 you get a sub and a side of fries. If you're ever in the area or simply looking for a new place to try be sure to stop by for lunch. Hours are M-F 10am-4pm. *I had to gobble my sandwich down before taking a picture today but it looked much better than the one pictured below.

Food was great. Love that owners will cater to your spice level and taste. Variety of dishes and cuisine on the menu!
