The Q Shack

I recently had one of those nights where I Just did not feel like cooking. I was craving something simple like a meat and 2 sides [where are the family restaurants around here?!] No seriously, if you know of one let me know. Anyway, my husband suggested the Q Shack because he grew up going here and wanted to try it out, so we did. I got the brisket plate with a side salad and mac & cheese. He got the pulled pork BBQ plate and we shared some honey BBQ wings. If 10 was the best brisket I've ever had, I would give this a solid 6.5. Good! But not great which was fine for random Friday night take out. The brisket wasn't dry at all and had good flavor. I love smoked wings and these were good but I was sorely disappointed they gave us ALL FLATS! Not sure what that was about, I much prefer the drums. I've never seen a place give you all flats or all drums without you specifically ordering them that way. The mac and cheese was good, tasted like creamy stove top mac, it wasn't baked dry like a lot of places. The side salad was nice and fresh with lots of toppings. Oh, and they have the GOOD RANCH. If you know you know. Overall, solid spot and I would eat here again.

1/2 rack ribs barely edible. Service ok and ambiance what I expected. Hush puppies burnt. Fries were good tho. Disappointed to say the least. Won't go back with so many better options for the $.

Traveling through the area with pets in the car, opted for a parking-lot picnic with The Q Shack. Our food had been sitting and was ready way before the email advised for pickup. This was at lunchtime on a Wednesday, spending $34.Brisket Sandwich was very flavorful but it needed the two packets of mayonnaise on the dry bread. Side of macaroni and cheese had zero cheese flavor and tasted like oil and seasonings, which was pretty disappointing. Hush puppies were great. Pulled Pork Sandwich was dry and a tough, but flavor was there. Collards as a side were super hot and mediocre on the flavor scale. Potato salad side was ice cold, too cold to enjoy, and is more like loaded mash potatoes in a way.

First time eating this bbq, I got the pulled chicken sandwich. It was really good. The staff was nice.

Came to this spot tonight as a party of 4 because there were significant waits (1 hour or more) at every other restaurant nearby for our initial party of 6. They certainly accommodated our party size (as this is an order at the bar then seat yourself type place), so if you need quick food for a hungry crowd this might be a great place for you! We got three pulled chicken plates and one pulled pork sandwich plate and the meat and sides were just okay. The pulled chicken was kind of watery but had an okay flavor and was not dry. The mustard sauce with the Texas chipotle bbq sauce was a good combination on it. Tables were clean, no thrills or servers- you pay at the bar and take an order number to your table! Staff were very friendly. All in all, I would maybe try this place again if I was really in the mood for bbq but would probably spring for the brisket and try different sides other than the Mac and cheese and side salad. (I don't enjoy chopped egg on a salad and they include it on theirs- I didn't know in advance or I would have requested no egg, they probably would've been glad to make the change!).

For my sons graduation gathering we ordered meat by the pound and i will say the brisket was all the rage at the party! Included enough sauce and hushpuppies were a nice bonus!

Ordered the brisket sandwich and while it had flavor it was dry. I expect better for brisket. Jalapeño deviled eggs were excellent.bbq pinto beans were ok.

Should have known walking in to an empty restaurant. The pulled pork was so over salted I had to throw it out. The macaroni and cheese had no taste and dried out. Hushpuppies under a heat lamp and bent over when I picked it up. Save your money!

How to improve:- serve brisket that isn't dry- serve brisket that is fresh and not just warmed over- serve hush puppies that aren't soggy- serve fries that aren't overcookedOR- don't overprice your low quality food

Been going here every Sunday lunch for years. Never had a bad meal and always good service. The owners are very dedicated to their craft and truly care about the quality of the restaurant
