If there were zero for stars this place totally deserves negative stars!!The bar tender wanted to serve me a 7 day old wine which was labeled on the back of the bottle. WHO serves left over stale wine after 3 days?I politely asked to try a fresh bottle to taste. She refused and was COMPLETELY RUDE & Hostile stating she would not open a bottle to taste. I had to buy a glass or nothing! We have to put credit cards down to enter this over priced, bad wine establishment AND get treated & scolded like a child for wanting fresh wine. There are too many other great establishments for speak easy's & fun bars, then to come here to have a BAR TENDER talk down to me.RUN!!!

This is for real one of the coolest bar concepts I've ever had the pleasure to walk into and I'm not even a huge Harry Potter fan. A server at a restaurant recommended Press Room to my spouse and I, so we went there into the trendy-flowery mirrored lobby into what felt like a secretive entrance. The wizard at the host stand indicated that we couldn't be seated but that we could stand at a small high-top to which we replied hell yea because we were only there for one quick drink on the way to a scheduled event. The bartender was so cool and I would've loved more time to chat with her, and look at all of the amazing HP details that they worked into every inch of the small space. If I'm in Greenville again I won't hesitate to have a drink at this place, regardless of what the theme is. (I suggest Princess Bride or Clue!)

Totally disappointed. Made a reservation for a Saturday night to try out the ski lodge theme. No code, no table service, no cozy ambiance. But lol, the pricey drinks are still available. The vibe has changed from my previous visits and not for the better.

Our group of 4 have had such great luck on our weekly try a new place that's been going on since July? This whole press room experience is something out of a movie.Like the continental in John WickHarrison was the only employee in the room and with multiple tables he glided around the room with confidence and pride he has in his trade. It's an experience that can't be describe in a way that explains the ride. You literally have a mixologist with an artists passion teaching you about spirts and continuing the ride you started when you step off the elevator. As a life long cook, chef, restaurant manager I know talent,You read a couple reviews that are negative but.. the humus board, the charcuterie board were both great. The drinks and the service are all top notch, 4 people food and more than a few drinks plus an education on gin that tastes like bourbon and lots moreFor couple hundred dollars is a steal in my book.Thank you HarrisonIt was a great time for us all

We made a reservation a month ago and were super excited to go to the Ski Lodge speakeasy. We went up a crowded elevator with a large group of people that were VERY casually dressed with a baby. First thoughts were they couldn't possibly be going where we were but they were. Seemed odd considering it's supposed to be a "bouji" speakeasy. The kid working the entrance was dressed casual as well which we were hoping for more of a ski themed "bouncer". He went to see if out if our reserved table was ready and said when walk in around the corner our couch was the first one when you round the corner. The code to enter was written on a piece of paper taped to the wall! Really tacky. Our couch was literally at the bar and ever time the door opened we were the first thing you see. We sat down and felt like we were in the lobby waiting for a seat with a view into the brightly lit kitchen. It was awkward and uncomfortable. We had groups of people standing constantly in front of us ordering drinks because there was no cocktail service. You had to go to the bar order your drinks & then take your glasses back to the bar. There was no one out on the floor bussing or wiping down the dirty areas. This was supposed to be a ski lodge! They failed. It was just another overpriced bar, it was loud and the music was pumping & obnoxious. We absolutely love visiting speakeasy's and this was NOT one! I'm assuming because it's at a hotel in a a busy downtown they don't care because it will be a one & done for most. The drinks were creative but very average. Overall just a huge disappointment.

TLDR: go to Swordfish or Exile if you want your trendy, downtown socks knocked off. I created the entry for The Press Room here on Yelp! just to write this review, so I'm not certain if they'll actually see it. (The views expressed in this review are my personal opinions. I understand that simply because an environment does not suit my tastes, that it still can be enjoyable for others. I'm not in the business of telling anyone what they should do with their bar or restaurant. This review is to shed a little light on what The Press Room is trying to hide from us. Perhaps, I also have too much time on my hands this evening.)We visited the highly-anticipated, most buzzworthy cocktail bar in downtown Greenville last week. While our visit was accommodated by a kind hostess, a knowledgeable & funny server, and a friendly bartender, we were quite disappointed with the overall experience of this ploddingly esoteric bar. Firstly, none of the employees were wearing masks. The information online is incorrect (we see 3 Moody Street, as well as addresses for Broad Street and Main Street); the website is non-existent; and the articles written about it are inflated with compliments and praise. Even the Instagram account and Facebook page (that declares it as a restaurant -- there's no food) are cryptic. "For reservations, visit resy.com"Withholding information in hopes of encouraging a mysterious reputation does not a speakeasy make. The "exclusivity" factor, frankly, comes off as elitist and is alienating. Having a door code and that wonderful! secret entrance was really thrilling at first, but that feeling eventually faded once we were in the door and seated in the room, where we were able to absorb what appeared to be a hotel bar or Sky Lounge. The music throughout the evening was off-putting. A bizarre mix of a classical, jazzy, emotional soundtrack which kept our group from enjoying a conversation ... instead commenting on the irksome sounds which weren't coherent with the sights. The drinks are all grossly expensive at $18-26 on the cocktail menu. Gouging unsuspecting guests to pay the high rent is not mysterious & cool. Greenville is not ready nor yet big enough for those price tags. The menu contains no recipe too imaginative. The best drink at our table was Seeing Bowties: perfectly balanced, with a notable amount of booze, served in a glass vessel resembling my grandfather's pipe. The other drinks were watered down and unmemorable, with bits of ice still floating in their pale colors, yet also served in beautifully shaped, delicate coupe-style glassware. As one of my friends put it, we have "the sense of The Press Room not meeting the requirements set by its price." All across this wonderful city are more enthralling atmospheres that serve wild (and mild) drinks without insulting you. I encourage you to visit them.

Very unique atmosphere, not your typical bar by any means. Very comfortable and could spend hours relaxing with friends. The drinks were not cheap but they were outstanding. You get what you pay for. The service was excellent and the bartender took extra time to find the perfect drink for everyone, very personal touch. Will definitely be back for more.
