The Poe House

I am so happy my family stumbled upon this place! After dinner, we were wanting to go somewhere to grab a drink and talk (the place we went to for dinner was pretty loud so we couldn't hear each other well). That being said, we wanted a quieter setting. There was a band playing when we arrived but saw there was outside seating which was perfect because we enjoyed the music that was being played, but again, we wanted to talk. The porch was a perfect place to do both! The music was loud enough we could hear it but quiet enough that we had a wonderful time, drinking our wine/cocktails and hanging out. The inside was also super chill because it's dimly lit and there are two bar areas. If we lived closer, I could see my husband and I coming here often for a date spot or with friends!When we arrived, one of the staff members was helpful because we hadn't been here before so we weren't sure where to order. We went to the bar as instructed and ordered our drinks. My aunt and I both ordered a glass of wine--she had a sav. Blanc and I got the Prosecco. The guys ordered a dark and stormy, the hibiscus house cocktail, and a Manhattan. We all enjoyed our drinks thoroughly! If you are visiting the area, stop by!!

Four of us went the other evening for dinner and drinks, it wasn't very busy. The bartender/waiter made us feel like we were an inconvenience.The food and drinks were fantastic. My daughter and I shared the burrata pizza, others had the caprese salad and hummus platter. When the bill arrived, it was on top of a notebook that had really vulgar words on it (yes, I know it's 21+ but it's a business) when my mom mentioned it, the waiter said "you should see the inside" and walked away.

First time there we felt right at home. Staff was friendly and welcoming, and the drinks were reasonably priced. We sat outside on the patio since the weather was perfect, but can't wait to go back and check out the Poe decor inside. A lot to take in!

It was a super cool experience and space. We just came for drinks after eating upstairs at West First on a Sat night. When you first walk into the place it looks like there is just the room upon entering, but there is a bar and more seating to the right. We were sat in a cozy area that was perfect for relaxing over a drink and socializing. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive.

Really good food options and some nice fall cocktails in a really cool basement themed place. I really think this could be a cool spot since the food was well prepared, the live music was good, and the atmosphere was very unique. However, I'm only giving it 3 of 5 because the service was just nonexistent. We grabbed bar seats by the door (not the main bar around the corner by the bathrooms) and the guy "serving" us could have cared less that we were there. Basic stuff like follow up and 'what would you like' type questions were basically him walking up and staring at us until we initiated conversation. Don't know if it was because of our seating choices or what, but... not a good experience.

Cool place. I'm the basement. Good drink specials. Cody was our bartender- know his drinks! Get the burrata and crostini app- yumm! I had the $5 sparkling brut. Hung out at the beer. Super friendly people. Will come back for sure.

Too expensive and the drinks are not very good. Very dark inside. We went there once and won't be back. Too Bad. The place looked cool. Love Edgar Allen Poe. Hope I spelled it correctly.

We love this place and have been coming every time we visit the area. We had drinks and didn't realized they have game night on Wednesday which was an added bonus. You go there for drinks not for the food anymore as it's really basic. They use to have much better food... not sure what or who changed.

I've been here twice & both experiences were good. The atmosphere was nice, the staff were friendly, and the food was good.

"We" weren't the problem. Cody. Was the problem. But if you want to be fake polite and keep your head in the sand with regard to employing toxic wait-staff, that's on you. Making people feel welcome is not YOUR cup of tea apparently
