The Mason Jar

I have been here a few times. I just recently moved to NC and this place is 1 minute from my house! Their sweet tea is the BEST sweet tea I've ever had! The first time I went I had the garlic cheddar bites. They are AMAZING! Unfortunately you must eat them there. You cannot take them home and reheat them because they get hard as a brick when you do so lol. Otherwise I'd take home sooo many orders. And their marinara they give you is sooooo good and a legit marinara! The fries are also amazing and one of a kind! They're not just typical restaurant fries, they have a unique crispy batter that tastes amazing! I don't remember what kind of. Main meal I got that time. But the second time I got the Philly. I unfortunately had to send it back. It was extremely dry. And I decided to go with the patty melt instead with extra onions which was WAY better and to DIE for! What disappointed my fiancé and I was his first time, he got the buffalo chicken sandwich, and the chicken was huge and great quality and it came with cheese,lettuce, tomato and onion. The second time he got it, the chicken quality was horrible. It was a chicken patty that was smaller than the bread.. they made it open faced and it literally just had the plain patty and a piece of cheese on the bottom bun and then on the top bun, a squirt of buffalo. It was horrible.Overall everything is pretty great. But they do slack some days on certain items. I will say that every time we go, whatever server we get, is always so sweet, kind, understanding and a joy to be around!

Literally all of our food was inedible. The children's grilled cheese sandwiches tasted like the cheese still had plastic wrap stuck to it. My burger was not fresh beef and was burnt on the outside and super well done on the inside. It's definitely not the cute, quaint, so it must be delicious restaurant I was hoping. Slow service as well.

Great country food, sweet tea, and service. Food came out quickly and the whole family left fat and happy. Great stop, worth coming in.

This restaurant started out 5 star, but with difficulties from menu failures, to staff disappointments has fallen (in my estimation) to 1.5 stars. There are things that could be done to make it better. Portion sizes used to be good, even a little generous, but they have shrunk to somewhat less than mediocre. Some days the desserts are fantastic, then others they are terrible. I had a portion of banana pudding (which should be a staple on any southern traditional restaurant's menu) which tasted entirely spoiled - fermented even. I think the owners and chefs need to re-think what they are providing. Most of us locals pass them right by and go on into town for restaurant fare.

We had BLT sandwiches, the lettuce was very fresh, the bacon crispy, and the tomato tasty. The fries were done just right as well as the onion rings, which taste home made. A great place to stop for a quick bite.

The Mason Jar is an excellent place for lunch or dinner. Good home cooking, friendly service, relaxed atmosphere. Anytime you don't want to cook, they will do it for you! I had the BBQ plate, I love BBQ and am very critical...this was right up there with the best I've had. Hush puppies were also great. I would definitely recommend it.

The exterior and interior could be spruced up a bit without losing rustic charm. Your meal comes out quickly, looks good and usually tastes better than it looks. When they raised their prices, obviously necessary, I overheard several customers discussing the price increase~they agreed the prices were increased a bit too much. I understand both sides of the increases.People in this area are poor, for the most part; an increase estimated between a quarter to a couple of bucks adds up especially when bringing the entire family after Sunday Church services.

Eh. Food ok. Not enough servers. No lemon wedges for our tea (which was good). Got fried chicken sandwiches. They weren't bad but not high quality chicken. The salad was cold, crisp and wonderful. Dressings were delicious.

We ate there last Sunday the food was cold and order was incorrect. We only saw the waitress in passing and the only thing worse than the food and service was the management. Do not recommend and will not return to the restaurant or the store.Ken Addams

Best place to eat in Green Hill. Good people, friendly waitress staff, family owned and run.
