If you are looking for American style food, quiet setting, choice of table or countertop sitting, reasonable pricing, good food, friendly service, high sanitary rating, then, this could be worth your while to try.

Wasn't the greatest experience at this establishment. Came in needing a good breakfast and friendly service to start my day off right before my travels. Went straight to the bar as I usually feel I get the best and quickest service there. The lady that waited on me was a bit rude and barely opened her mouth to speak to me. Gave me my coffee and water and then expected me to have my order ready within two minutes of sitting down. I'm new here and the uncomfortable thing was, she didn't ask for my order, but instead waited in front of me with note pad and pen in hand. Had to tell her I wasn't ready yet. Decided to sit at a table instead to get better service. My waitress was pleasant and took my order. My order came out faster than usual for breakfast, but makes sense as the hash browns were under cooked, the bread wasn't toasted all the way through and toast tasted stale. I didn't even take a pic of my breakfast as I wanted to eat and get out of there. Seemed like a very local spot, which is totally cool, but everyone got a friendly good bye on way out except myself. The original lady who first waited on me finally said have a good day, but by then the damage was done. Not a great experience and would recommend trying other places first.

I adore this place! I always support local businesses and this one is an easy pick for breakfast or dinner. Prefect location downtown. Food is always good and made fresh each order.

I've been here once before for lunch. This time I am getting breakfast. I love how this place is an old arcade spot. And they still have the old arcade machines in the back. It's a casual diner type setting. It's definitely cheaper than other places I've been downtown recently. You just have to come before 10:30 for breakfast and before 1:30ish for lunch because they close at 2 pm. I recommend this places regardless of whether you're a local or in the area for the day!

Excellent BLT sandwich. Very good counter service. This place is a throwback to the 60s. I enjoyed going here.

Best place in Hickory for a breakfast sandwich. Food is excellent, fast and reasonable. This place is a staple that everybody should try. It's like going back in time...in a good way.Only critique is that they are not open on Saturdays which I think is insane.

I absolutely love this place!!! Great liver mush ! Staff were so friendly and outgoing! Definitely going to be a regular stop when going through Hickory!

Great price for grub AND friendly staff, recommended liver mush and egg., OUT of towners that don't know of southern liver mush, it's going to be a great experience for you to enjoy.. come on down , see you.

Good food and good service! Service is always quick and friendly. My sandwiches and onion rings were very good, I know the name but it will always be the pool room!!
