The Dispensary

Great lunch choice. They are always running various specials through the week which keeps things fresh. I love the chicken wings and the pizzas are good too. They have a really neat bar that shows off the label from old drug bottles. This was an old drug store way back in the day.The servers are all very friendly and chipper. Which makes for a dinner eating experience. The hamburgers are huge and juicy. I like to add bacon. MmmFrench fried are always crispy and fresh. The appetizers on the menu are great. Fried pickles might be my favorite. It's a fun place to go with really good food! Check them out.

We came in to see Easy Money perform. We had bacon cheese fries, loaded nachos, house salad, and Buffalo chicken pizza with sweet tea, liquid marijuana, hippie juice, and Dos Equis amber in a bottle. Service was quick and friendly. Table was dirty when we got there, but they happily wiped it down and apologized. Out of our two menus the prices was different in each one and different still on the ticket. The pizza showed 10.99 in the menu and was 13.46 on the ticket. So just know the prices may not be whatever they say. None of our items were the price the menu showed. They were out of several things, but we ended up pleased with what we got. Definitely an enjoyable Saturday night.

I've found myself back home twice in the last month. (Which also means I have found myself at the Dispensary twice as well. These were my first visits back to The Dispensary since the depths of the pandemic. Service has been consistently quick. My first visit in the last month, there weren't any bar seats so we sat at a booth. The person that attended to us was pleasant and attentive. We were just drinking during this visit. On my most recent visit to The Dispensary we were able to find a seat at the bar. Again we were served promptly & in a friendly manner. This go we had pickle chips and pub chips. Y'ALL. SERIOUSLY. Do you remember when Hams (yes the now defunct restaurant chain in the Piedmont) was running on their A game?!? The pub chips at the Dispensary harken back to that. A little oily but the right thickness and perfect in their ranch. I'll be back here anytime I find myself back in Wilkes.

First time eating at the dispensary, my fiancé recommended it to me and I figured I'd give it a shot, the lady waiting on us was very nice and accommodating. Got a divey feel to it but it was a nice experience overall. Would recommend to friends, they have really good shrimp

A simple, no fuss, seat yourself eatery. Typical bar food but done exceptionally well. The french fries seemed underdone when they arrived but after trying them I realized they are more 'potato wedge' than thin cut fry. The Carolina burger was on special today and was so good- a surprisingly thick hamburger patty slathered in a delicious chili. The employees seemed a little stressed as the soda machine was down, (the only beverage options were water, sweet tea, draft beer, or liquor drinks) and they were out of a few menu items. Overall, a nice lunch spot that we will return to!

Good food and love the signed memorabilia on the walls. Fair prices and the menu has great choices. We had the special that day and it was so much food and just yummy, will definitely go back again, friendly and polite waiting staff.

Very good food- but sadly a lack of local beers. The service was great- and we loved the atmosphere. Very much a local dive bar. We will go back anytime we are in the area.

Late night apps and beers. Friendly staff and only thing we found open late. Very fun!

This was our first time eating here. The menu prices were incorrect, they lacked several items from the menu and the food was served cold, greasy and the ketchup was fermented. HOWEVER, after we brought these concerns to the manager she apologized and offered to replace some of our food. We declined and also learned from the nice waitress that the place was working on a skeleton crew of 1 cook, 1 waitress, and 1 supervisor. When the bill was given the whole order was comped due to the unsatisfactory response we expressed. I think this was likely an uncommon occurrence for this little hole-in-the-wall eatery/pub and I would encourage others to try it out for themselves.

My first impression, from the taped up rip in our booth seat, was that the place was a bit run down. But the food and service was excellent! Additionally, I enjoyed how the restaurant celebrates the history of the building within which it resides. There were many interesting documents, photographs, and newspaper clippings, framed on the walls. This place has a great vibe, combining good food and local culture.
