The Depot at Cody CreekThis is a beautiful restaurant in the country, outside of Dobson, NC. It's a little hard to negotiate to the parking lot, but your GPS will get you to the main road in. Just drive down the hill and across the covered bridge. There are two entrances, one in the center of the building that takes you to the bar area (you can eat in the bar). The other in the left end of the building that goes to the main dining room. There is also a gift shop, which we didn't visit. We chose a booth in the main dining room. The place was packed, and you could hear others talking, but it was not loud. There are knee walls separating tables and booths and they help keep the noise down. We had an intimate corner booth. We ordered house-made chips as an appetizer. They were just ok - could have been hotter.Carolyn had the 8 oz Filet, cooked medium. It was cooked perfectly. Closest the best steak ever. Very tender, and well seasoned to enhance the flavor of the beef. Served with two sides. Tossed salad using ice berg lettuce. Baked potato.1/2 rack of Baby Back Ribs - delicious. Fall off the bone with a spicy rub. A touch dry, could have used sone sauce. Also served with two sides.Good selection of wine by the glass and the bottle. The filet was the special (about $10 off the menu price. Dinner for two with two glasses of wine, and appetizer, came to $74.The service was very good (although the hostess was a bit grumpy). Our server kept water glasses full, and was attentive without being overbearing. She made recommendations when asked. My only complaint was the menus are old, and worn. A little hard to read in some areas. Menu offered good variety. We enjoyed or visit to The Depot and will return.

The food, service, value, and atmosphere were all outstanding, but it wasn't my choice to come here (was with family) and despite all this, I wouldn't return for one reason:OBNOXIOUS TRUMP PICS EVERYWHERE.But the staff can't help that, so I'm only deducting one star from what would otherwise have been a perfect rating. A shame the owners can't be more professional.

This place is so beautiful and they have some delicious food. It is the perfect spot for a date night. The service is always wonderful. There is usually always a wait unless you make reservations before hand but the food is most definitely worth the wait. On the weekends you get complimentary ice cream with each meal, which is conveniently located in the general store next door to the restaurant. Accompanying the restaurant are four cozy cabins, a clubhouse, gazeebo, banquet hall, and wedding chapel.

The Depot Restaurant at Cody Creek was an incredibly gorgeous place and the food was tasty too. We entered on one road that looped to the parking lot. And we left on a different road. I was in love as we entered the well manicured grounds. We crossed a covered bridge on the entry road. It reminded me of Greenup County, where I grew up, as there are still a few covered bridges remaining. There was a chapel for weddings, a gazebo with a pretty fountain and a picnic shelter. I was told there are also cabins for rent. The restaurant was huge, including a bar area in the middle of the building and a gorgeous entry way with a water fountain, stuffed bear and antler chandelier. So pretty! There was also a store, but I didn't check it out.Andrew was our server who provided excellent service! He even offered some tips as it was our first visit. We started with a blumming onion served with ranch and their special sauce. I enjoyed dipping in both sauces. For dinner, I ordered red snapper, a side salad and sweet potato casserole. I had the house made Italian dressing, which was fabulous! The red snapper was prepared perfectly. It was light, flaky and well seasoned. The sweet potato casserole was like having dessert with dinner. So good!I highly recommend you stop and give them a try!

Saw this place on social media and visited during our covered bridge trip. Casual atmosphere. Staff friendly, hustling to get everyone served.Only open for dinner, and people were lined up an hour before doors opened. The food was fine. Meats were hot, the sides were cold. With the large number of people they are trying to serve quickly, I'll bet sides are dished, staged, and awaiting orders. Brought to servers' attention, she brought fresh hot sides.Maybe next time, we'll let the first wave of folks go in and be in the second seating. Ribs were tasty, tender fall off the bone. The seafood platter was amazing. Breaded just right, oysters, wow, large, cooked perfectly. Portions are ample, skip appetizers unless you want leftovers. Free ice cream offered tonight, so we skipped desserts as offered.Off the beaten path near Dobson, but worth the trip. Grounds are beautiful, general store for gifts and the ice cream.

While we were waiting for a table we the pleasure of visiting with the owner. What a great guy and vision he has for his restaurant. When traveling back this way we will definitely make this a regular stop....worth the little drive off I-77.

Waited 30 minutes to be seated which was no big deal then the owner asked if our entire party was there We had just got off the phone with our daughter and son in law and they were 2 minutes out He stated if they weren't here in a couple of minutes we would lose our table Then got the same treatment by a woman in the back sitting people We had my 87 year old mother with us I can't believe how rudely we were treated I was so mad I gave his menus and silverware back and left Unless you want to be treated like a herd of cattle I'd consider other options We have eaten there numerous times but his actions tonight ensured we will never be back Truly should be ashamed of himself

Drove all the way here. Arrived at 7:19 pm. Says it closes at 8. They had their entrance blocked with a car and wouldn't even answer their phone. Rude and not professional Answer your phone!

I didn't have the guts to try the tuna or salmon, so I tried their pork chops. I requested "just" grilled with nothing else. I was trying to avoid any kind of fried food, Not a lot of vegetables, so I settled for green beans and a house salad. With all that said, everything was prepared and served to my satisfaction. Anyway, after all was said and done, I was not disappointed and would come back again without hesitation. Certainly not perfection, but there is a lot going on and obvious that someone is managing the place with good customer service in mind. Long story short, you might come away from the Depot thinking you've had better, but you would not be disappointed. Hope this makes a bit of sense.
