This restaurant/bar that serves all meals of the day is one of my most reliable and underrated brunch spots. There are plenty of trendier brunch locations in Charlotte that don't have food or service nearly as good or consistent (my server is almost always Carolina, she's such a delight and very perceptive of my tables needs). Somehow, there's never a wait here. Given the above, there are times that I find myself here several weekends in a row.I've had many dishes here and I've never had anything bad. My favorites are the steak and eggs (served at brunch) and The Degenerate Burger (with beef, pulled pork, cheddar, provolone, confit onions, crispy prosciutto, BBQ sauce). Get the home fries (brunch), they're crispy and the best I've had in town.Update 1/19/25:Still an excellent restaurant, actually had a short wait to be seated as this place seems to gain popularity. The burger has changed entirely (feel free to compare menus on this review from this update and a year ago) and I may need to retract that from being one of my recommendations. The potatoe pave is an interesting side but leaves the center potatoes a bit undercooked. The restaurant also has a lot of extra space that could be utilized if they'd like to add some tables, but this could be intentional.

I really enjoyed my visit here for brunch. The service was prompt and attentive, the food enjoyable, and the restaurant very cute. We ate outdoors to take advantage of the beautiful weather-- highly recommend. The blintzes were incredibly flavorful--sweet without being cloying but unfortunately the lettuce wraps were excessively salty for my taste. Still, I would return next time I'm in Charlotte.

Really liked the food here! So we popped in on a super rainy Thursday night - this place is close to my apartment so I'd been meaning to try - and they were relatively empty. We sat at a table (the bar and high tops are considered the bar area and so you won't get a server). Our server was nice, a little slower but felt like the right amount of space. We ordered food and kept waffling on drinks, though ultimately decided not to drink. I will say, you could get little 4oz pours of beer instead of a full glass, which was cool to me. You could make a flight or have a nice taste without committing to a full beer, especially if you just wanted to try. They also have some wines and cocktails. Food menu is a good size, not overwhelming. Everything we had (an entree and 2 small plates) was DELICIOUS and I would order again. Truthfully the one small plate would've been enough for my dinner, but was happy to nibble on everything. I think the squash was my favorite! Overall, good location. Feels like a nice meal, but you don't need to be dressed up for it. They have TVs if you're looking to watch a game, and the door can open like a garage on nice days. Perfect spot for a date, with a little walk in Cordelia Park after. They have a small parking lot behind the building, as well as street parking. Additionally, it's about a block from the 25th St. light rail stop. I'll definitely be back!

This has always been a go to neighborhood spot for dinners and cocktails. They rarely have a wait but they always have a good crowd. Today I tried brunch for the first time and I can't believe I waited this long to try it! I got the breakfast tacos with pulled pork- SO delicious! The breakfast potatoes also had a lot of flavor. Highly recommend!

For a Saturday afternoon, I was a bit surprised this spot didn't have more foot traffic. Not sure if it's more of a game-watching vibe for locals, but either way we didn't have a problem getting a table. I was here with my brother and he got the breakfast tacos while I opted for the eggs benedict. It was honestly pretty darn good and the potatoes had a slight kick and were super fresh and crispy. I do love people watching though and half the enjoyment of a restaurant is being around the other patrons, so that was the only mild letdown that it was sort of dead. But if I'm ever in town again, which is very likely, I definitely wouldn't be opposed to stopping in here again.

If you order one thing and one thing only at The Degenerate - GET THE TURKISH EGGS. This was hands down my favorite brunch of 2024, and I daydream about those Turkish Eggs more often than I care to admit. The staff was friendly and accommodating, and it was a very laid back casual vibe that paired perfectly well with our all out feast.

Such a cute spot located in Noda! It was my first time visiting and I was there for a group brunch. We were immediately seated and waited on. Our waitress was knowledgeable about the menu items (drinks included). I had the bacon, eggs, potatoes and toast and the potatoes were well seasoned and cooked. The bacon was thick cut which is my fav. The only drawback and this isn't their issue is the lack of parking. They share parking with a few connected businesses so the lot it always full and street parking spaces aren't readily available on weekends in Noda. Otherwise this was a great experience.

One of my favorite spots in Charlotte! The small plates are easily sharable, and everything is fresh and flavorful. You absolutely must order the gochujang wings and pesto gnocchi - I get those every time. The pierogis and short rib are also notably delicious. The atmosphere is fairly casual, and the service is prompt and friendly, without any frills.

Decided to visit the degenerate because of the good reviews on Yelp. I left bewildered at those reviews. Sure it's a nice, hip open air restaurant, the service was good and there are a lot of draft selections but the food was bad. The hummus was funky, and the lettuce wraps were too sweet. The falafel pita was bland. Maybe we ordered the rolling things, I don't know, but we don't have any plans for returning to find out.

FOOD POISONING from a contaminated chicken biscuit was sick for over 24 hours puking all night with the runs. One hundred percent sure it was from eating at degenerate it was the only thing I ate all day, I felt bad immediately after the meal and couldn't eat anything after. The food my friends had was also was also awful but they didn't get food poisoning but they also felt sick after the meal.
