We had an epic early Valentine's Day dinner. The medium rare ribeye could not have been any better. Our service was excellent with a great food and drink menu. It felt like a small speakeasy vibe walking down with perfect music and comfortable seating. We can't wait to go back!

Exceptional!Great all around premium dining experience! Fantastic Steaks, premium craft cocktails, cozy intimate setting. Limited seating so make sure you have a reservation. We got lucky and dined at the bar. Fantastic! Go down to the Cellar and experience an old world speakeasy experience with modern high end steak house food and service! I started off with a smoked buttered pecan Old Fashioned made right in front of me by an experienced expert mixologist! Yes it was as good as it sounds! Maybe better! Get this!We had the baked oyster apps and tuna tartar. The oysters were farmed oysters and nicely prepared. I would suggest preparing and serving the oyster on the cup shell and not on the flat or top shell. Seemed we got served 3 oysters split in half on the cup and the flat shell to fill 6 on a plate. (Not cool, cost them a 5 star, hopefully it was just mistake in the kitchen) Tuna was sushi quality and consistent with some nice winter bluefin tuna that is available at a premium. I had a perfect temp NY strip, really really good. Seemed like a high Choice that was cooked perfectly! Great Steak! As expected, their wine list is exceptional with many reasonable choices. They do have an excellent extensive beer menu and temperature controlled oak paneled beer room full of fancy bottled beer and porters. Really a great overall dining experience.Highly recommended! We will return!

Before dining here we asked some friends about The Cellar. "It's OK", they said, "for a sports bar". So, yeah, while that may describe Duckworth's itself, it's rather clear that they didn't venture downstairs for what is a completely different and unique experience.I'm no historian so I can't speak regarding The Cellar's authenticity. However, walking through the dark brick-covered hall in the basement of Duckworth's certainly made me feel as though I'd been transported to another era. There's even a heavy sliding door at the entrance and what appears to be vintage incandescent lighting throughout. The cocktail menu is excellent, one of the best, ok, maybe THE best in Charlotte. So many interesting choices, I opted for a Smoked Old-Fashioned and then a Sazerac. Both were delicious. However, my wife one-upped me by ordering the Mezcal Thymencello. It's served in a glass flask, neat concept, and tastes incredible.Dinner choices include shareable small plates, flatbreads, and numerous steak options. We kept on the (somewhat) lighter side, sharing Pork Steam Buns, stuffed Waffle Cones and the Brussels Sprouts & Candied Jalapeño Bacon Flatbread. The steam buns were a highlight, the large bao were perfectly prepared with just the right texture of "soft chewiness". Unfortunately the waffle cone fillings were somewhat disappointing, the chicken sriracha one was good but the coconut shrimp and poke tuna cones fillings lacked in flavor. What a fun place! A great option for date nights. Maybe start here in the Cellar and then move on to one of the rooftop bars, a tour of "both ends' of the city!

Located in the lower level floor of Duckworth building, the Cellar is a stellar dinning spot in the area. It's very popular, reservations highly recommended. We got there an hour before our reservation, but luckily got open spot at the bar. Got to witness some magnificent bartending skills as they prepared a variety of drinks for the guests. I tried the berry lemon drop and cucumber highball, both were such good drinks.Food wise we ordered plenty of dishes. Grilled oyster was fantastic including the side of bread. Scallops were so soft and moist. Duck confit was cooked perfectly. And finally I had the 14oz Prime NY strip, a huge piece of steak perfect seasoning. The service was great. Staff were super friendly. Even though they were packed, our dishes were served within a decent time. This is really one of the top spots to dine in Charlotte.

Absolutely love the speakeasy vibe here. It was an actual speakeasy during prohibition! It's moody and dark and very upscale. The service is phenomenal -- our server was helpful in picking out dishes and very friendly. The duck flatbread was just okay, it was so flat it was more like a chip. It had good flavor though. The burger was fine -- I did let our server know it was a little dry/overcooked but still tasty and not egregious enough to take back. The dry aged New York strip melted in my mouth and was cooked perfectly. The truffle mac and cheese was good -- heavy on the truffle, if that's what you like. Overall, I would visit again.

Fun cozy place with so many hand crafted cocktails and great eats. I did stick with sparkling wine, and our server Cory kept it coming! Very attentive. For food we ordered the charred corn risotto, house made waffles with chicken, raw tuna, and shrimp, truffle mac and cheese, candied bacon, and the steamed buns with pork belly. The bacon and risotto came out quickly and was really surprised at how good the risotto was! Loved the fresh charred corn in it. Bacon was good too and came with a side of dijon mustard. The pork buns were very disappointing. The buns were incredibly dry and inedible. The truffle mac and cheese was absolutely delicious, my favorite of all the dishes, and a huge portion for the price. The waffle cones were a fun concept but I felt the sweetness didn't go well with the protein. The tuna poke was good though.Overall a really fun place and would definitely be back.

I've been trying to get here for literally years now. I'm so mad I waited this long. I wasn't sure where to go when I arrived, but after entering the building you head straight downstairs. Immediately the ambience changes and the dim light and seclusion remind you that it's a speak easy. I love it!Unfortunately we were seated beside a very loud young man but thankfully that only lasted about 25 minutes. Also, book early if you want to steal a little bit of quiet. Our reservation was for 6:15 but by 8:00 it was pretty busy as you can imagine. And this was a Monday. Noise level was still manageable and the space is intimate. I loved my drink - I ordered Where There's Smoke - so so good. Tried various apps too - the caramelized Brussels sprouts, pork steam buns and short rib gyoza dumplings. I really wanted to try the calamari salad but they had just taken it off the menu and hadn't updated the online version. Food came out as it was ready, and everything was nice and hot. My favorite were the short rib dumplings. Our server Jourdan was awesome and helpful too. I'm looking forward to returning.

We had a stellar experience at The Cellar for our anniversary this year. We did a few appetizers and cocktails, all recommended from our waiter and all were truly excellent. Our favorites of the night were the tuna tartare and the burrata cheese salad. The drink of the night was certainly the smoked whiskey sour as well, with perfect presentation. Romantic and fun night out, can't wait to come again!

The Cellar is at lower level of Duckworth's. Reservation is highly recommended. It small and tight place. We were 1 hr early than the reservation time because we were starving, the hostess offered sit by the bar or wait another half hour. So we just sat by the bar. Food is wonderful!!! I love all the items that we got. Oyster size is a little small but good flavor. Duck is cooked beautifully; the sauce really completed the dish. Scallops were the best out of all. Tender and flavorful; big portion. The service was excellent. The bartenders were very busy so we actually got a good show of their skills.

While waiting for a phone at the Apple Store to be ready at the genius bar. We stopped in at the Cellar at Duckworth's. We had a flight in which we chose our three wines their sweetest red was really nice, so was their dry red and riesling. We didn't stay for any bites, as we were about to go and have something more substantial, but it was nice to be warm and wait with wine. Everyone was accommodating. The lighting and volume of the place was bright but subdued. Chill spot. They offer tastings and different special events. I'll be back.
