It looks like the negative reviews were from a while ago--before they made some changes and in the kitchen. I can't speak on the golf because I didn't play. But I can say it's a great restaurant. I had the Chicken Sandwich and it was delicious! The fries were also superb, and I don't say that often. The bartender and entire waitstaff was awesome and the prices were fair. If you're in the sports bar section, you're also in an open-air restaurant overlooking the golf course (unless facing the bar). Additionally, there ks an arcade, a shuffleboard table, and two massive screens for sports. This entire place is huge! They have all kinds of features. I also know there is a food and beverage cart on the golf course. And the owners have each one a Daytona 500--hence the name The 500 Club. Highly recommended.

Let me just say that for me, blind shots are just not enjoyable at all! There are so many on this course and if you are not in the fairway most of the time you are in big trouble. There is a tremendous amount of up and down with some extreme elevation changes. Some of the Par 5 holes and the longer Par 4's are really hard because they are uphill all the way.For the most part the course is in good shape. The greens generous and were flat for the most part and were rolling true. Oddly, I found there to not be a lot of break in the greens. There are some very nice vistas with elevated tee boxes which were really exceptional. My favorite hole was #16, a reachable Par 3 that has a little water and an intimidating bunker guarding the front of the green; I nearly carded an Ace!It is such a long way from Fort Mill. It took me over an hour on a Friday morning and almost an hour and a half on the return.I got a nice greeting when I arrived from Parker who loaded my bags on a cart and directed me to the Pro Shop where Caleb checked me in and gave me the lo down on the set up. I was very pleased with my Veteran rate of just $60 bucks on a Friday which included the cart and two bottles of iced down water.Unfortunately they don't have a real driving range. They have a bay with several stations where you can hit balls into a practice met. There is a practice putting area which is large and in great shape. There is some repair/construction going on.Norm was the Starter who is a real Pro. I was playing solo so he paired me up with a new Member and we got started about 20 minutes sooner. It really helped to have a member offer guidance, especially on the blind shotsIt was busy on a Friday but we were able to complete our round in just under four hours. There is GPS in the electric carts and they were running good and in great condition. They will really help you find the hidden creeks and water hazards.I especially liked the yardage markers on the tee boxes and at key intervals along the cart pathThere was a beverage cart that was making regular rounds on the front and the back. There were also several bathrooms on the front and the back. The snack bar at the turn offered some great hot and cold food options and all the usual beverages you might expect. There are just a few nits:No driving range or chipping area.No water stations at all.Too many blind shots and way too many extreme hills. On some holes you are right next to Interstate 77 and you can hear the truckers and the sirens from fire trucks and ambulances. For the most part the cart paths were good but there were stretches where it was broken.Extreme down hill runs on some which were a bit scary in some areas. You are penalized to the extreme if you are not accurate with your tee shots.Very little forgiveness for being off the fairway, you will lose balls.

This review is based on the restaurant mainly although the golf course looked so nice! The food here was phenomenal. The butternut squash soup was the best I've ever had. The pimento cheese and quesadillas were great and the kale sale also top notch! The drink menu has plenty of great options although the cocktails weren't overly impressive to me for the price point. The vibe is what tops it off. It truly gives resort bar vibes to me with the green turf floors and open air overlooking the golf bays. They do live music and kayoke also. If I lived in statesville I'd be here all the

Last week a small group of friends and I had an extraordinary golf experience at the 500 Club in Statesville. The club formerly named Larkin Golf Club was purchased by a number of NASCAR drivers who have won and or participated in the NASCAR 500 mile races e.g. The 500 Club name. The Club House is the first thing you notice as you pull into the parking lot. It is a modern, attractive building that houses an intimate restaurant and bar on one floor and the Pro shop and locker rooms on another. Unfortunately our group didn't eat in the restaurant but we will next time. We were met by Vanessa, an ECU pre-med student, in the parking lot. She is outgoing and friendly and set the tone for a great day. She took our clubs down to the stater and got them situated on our carts. Norm, the starter, is gregarious and club historian. He gave us the history of the club and ownership group, which is fascinating. We warmed up on the putting green which is a good size, well maintained and most importantly the same speed as the greens. Unfortunately, there is no driving range however there is a very clever solution. Next to the putting green is a group of bays with mats, tees, net and wall sized murals of famous holes in the USA, which we all used. When we teed off all of us felt warmed up and ready to hit. The course is in fantastic shape. There are more elevation changes than most courses in the Triad. Strategy is important on four or five holes where water comes into play. Many holes have narrow(ish) fairways so a good drive is important. Finally, the greens are in excellent condition. I strongly recommend the 19th hole for a soft drink if you're driving, or an adult beverage if someone else is. IMHO, the fees are reasonable. They include the cart, two bottles of water and some of the nicest people you will meet at a public course. The 500 Club has senior and military discounts. As Arnold Schwarzenegger said "I'll be back".

Oh it's a real shame. We started going here a few weeks ago after some positive reviews from friends. We went the Friday before Mother's Day and then on Mother's Day, both times we had great service. Had great meals, cocktails and apps as well. Been back 3 times since Mother's Day and each visit was worst than the last. The food is completely inconsistent as well as the service. The great - cocktails, they have a great bartender. That's been consistent. The 500 margarita is the best around. I wish I could leave 5 stars for the bartender alone. The good, the grouper bites when you tell them to take off the hot sauce oil is really tasty. Had them each time. We've now had smash burgers a few times, each time they change them. Zero consistency in how they are cooked, the ingredients or buns. The meat quality has lowered weekly as well. This was after I got food poisoning there the week earlier. Tonight, both my wife and I couldn't get halfway through them, they frankly were just gross. Oh well. It's a shame, we were hoping this was our new weekly spot, we were very excited.

We will return! Food was great, especially the crab cake appetizer. Our server Missy was excellent and very attentive. We live in Mooresville off of Brawley and it took less than 20 minutes to get there.. so if you are thinking it's too far to drive, it's not. We will be returning.

Earlier this week, my buddy and I had a disturbing experience at the 500 Club. After 14 holes, we were aggressively confronted and kicked off the course by someone claiming to be "the owner". According to him, we weren't playing fast enough, even though our pace was a solid 3 hours and 40 minutes for an 18-hole round, well under the USGA recommended pace of 3 hours and 58 minutes for a SINGLE player. Our round was enjoyable and relaxed, with both of us on track to shoot in the mid-80s, until a group behind us began to close in aggressively on hole 13. After finishing the 14th hole, we pulled over to let them play through. At that moment, "the owner" drove up to our cart, stormed out of his own cart approached us, and yelled, "What the fuck are you guys doing?" We were stunned. My friend calmly asked what his issue was, to which "the owner" arrogantly replied, "I can do what I want because I own this fucking place."Less than a minute into this confrontation, we noticed a clubhouse worker approaching in a cart, even though the clubhouse is at least 10 minutes away. Clearly, "the owner" had already called for us to be removed. We were then escorted off the course by the clubhouse employee. The most disheartening part came in the parking lot. While loading our clubs into our cars, three different employees overheard what had happened and implied that this kind of incident had occurred many times before. This was an egregious error and an utter embarrassment for the 500 Club. My buddy and I had played there roughly 10 times, often bringing our significant others for dinner, and ultimately were seriously considering membership. Fortunately, this incident revealed the true nature of the 500 Club. Despite its aspirations to avoid being labeled a "country club," it remains a place dominated by a rich, snobby, good ole boys' mentality.

I booked a reservation for easter brunch with my special needs son because the easter bunny was going to be there and I knew he would be excited to see him. We arrived at our reservation with the easter bunny no where to be found. After about 20 mins later the easter bunny showed up in the dining room for about 5 mins and then disappeared again, never to be seen again. The whole point of this brunch was to see the easter bunny. You would have thought if they were advertising this event they would have had a spot for the easter bunny to sit and take photos. But whoever was escorting the bunny around was in a rush all day long. I had friends who went later in the day and they stated the same thing.Other than that the food was pretty good, no complaints there, Our waitress was sweet as can be.

Lots of great items - one terrible one. We had our first experience last week at the 500 club. The room is relaxed and would be incredibly loud if full. We had some wonderful food - garden salad, caesar salad (just little too much dressing but good), fries, fantastic pretzels, nice simple wine list and solid blt. One huge disappointment was the mushroom artichoke pizza. In a world with good to great pizzas almost everywhere this was the thinnest I've ever had, minimal cheese, ovcerdone crust and no cheesy "bite" to it. Simply the worst I've ever had in this area. But we'll go back because everything was good.
