(1/9/25) My wife wanted to go out to dinner so here we are at Thai House. There was no decision making involved. She's starting off with a sweet tea and I'm having Thai Tea.We just ordered a bunch of appetizers including Golden Shrimp, Fried Pot Stickers, Knock Out Rolls, Tofu Spring Rolls and a bowl of chicken Tom Yum for myself. We've plowed through the appetizers. I've ordered Mangoes and Sticky Rice. The mangoes were sweet and delicious. The service was pretty good. Our orders came out pretty quickly. The ambience is always warm and comforting. Tonight though there was a terrible draft every time the front door opened.

This restaurant has been one of our favorites in Charlotte for decades...but not with the changes I've seen over this weekend. When we stopped in for dinner on Saturday, we noticed right off the bat how poorly things were being managed. For starters, the entryway was just clogged up with people waiting for pick-up orders, and others waiting to be seated. In fact, folks in line for pick-up orders were leaning on the diner's booths! Plus, there was no Hostess taking down names...just a sheet of paper where you jot down your name and number. Then I noticed all the staff members running around like headless chickens! More on that later.Once we were seated, we noticed the ambiance was just WAY off. No overhead music whatsoever...and we were now able to hear all kinds of clinking noises, loud conversations, you name it. Then this ridiculously intensely bright lightbulb above all the tables! In fact, the place was so intensely lit that we could see every flaw in this old restaurant's furnishings. In the past, I remember thinking how the place is TOO dark...yet the darkly dim lighting made the place look glossy...and romantic. Now, the whole ambiance seemed all but ruined.Actually, the lighting was so harsh, my husband even asked a waiter if there was a way they could dim it down a bit...but he came back saying that it was not possible. Really??Then the long wait for our foods...possibly twice longer than usual. From our observance, it seemed they were catering to the pick-up orders before serving the diners...as we observed many, many tables just waiting for their foods.Back to the "headless chicken" staff members. As if this was some fast-food Chinese joint, they were all running around, almost in a panic (?!?)... basically ruining the relaxed vibe for everyone dining. Overall, we felt as if we were eating in some supermarket food court (or a fast-food Chinese pick-up joint!), with people just running around like crazy. Again, magnifying all of this craziness was their now twice-as-intense "morgue" lighting. Think "Rocky Horror Picture Show". Very harsh, stark vibe. I thought maybe we should have just headed to the Alley 51 food court instead.Unlike in the past, the service was also pretty bad. All the staff members didn't even TRY to be friendly or courteous. No apologies either for the long wait (our plates didn't even arrive at the same time...as mine took 5 minutes longer). No checking for extra drinks either. We had to flag down someone. In fact, we didn't even have a dedicated waiter to our table... we were told that the staff members basically go around helping everyone. Well, that turned out to be terrible...in that we didn't have anyone checking back on us...thus, all the flagging on our part.THE only redeeming factor was their food. We ordered our usual favorites, the red and yellow curry dishes. Also, their Potstickers appetizer. Thank God the foods were still delicious as ever. If the foods weren't so good, I might have dropped the rating down to 1 star for nearly crude dining experience.Hate to do it, but must drop to only 2 stars for my once-favorite restaurant. We left thinking how the previous management team did such a stellar job (for so long!)...and how we missed them. I'm hoping that the new management of the place improves. Of course I'm assuming it's new management...because the entire vibe of the place has changed, along with the service. I wonder if the other 2 locations have also underwent changes (for the worse?). I may check back in a few weeks (or months?) and see if there are improvements. Am hoping these changes are just temporary, and not the new norm.PS***I received a response from the Owner, and I was told that there wasn't a change in management (or did she mean ownership). I thought the older lady running around was the new Manager...and I thought maybe she was the reason for the rough changes

Delicious food! This place has never disappointed when it comes to flavors. The restaurant itself is okay, service is okay. People are nice but always in a rush. I will be coming back as usual just for their food.

This is my fave Thai spot in Charlotte! You may be tempted to order take-out, but I recommend eating in, as the interior is lovely with intricate woodwork throughout. There is a large wooden sculpture with elephants in the middle as well as a pagoda-like structure encasing one of the booths. So pretty and unique! We were seated right away for dinner on a Sunday, and the service was super friendly, helpful, and speedy. At each booth was a bottle of Sriracha - I don't know how they have it when it seems like the rest of the country can't get their hands on a bottle! That's enough of a reason to come eat here! The menu is large and has a mix of classic Thai dishes as well as some I hadn't encountered before. As an appetizer, we ordered the knock-out rolls with shrimp. These two rolls, wrapped in rice paper, were a nice size and tasted very fresh. I loved the peanut dipping sauce. A great start to our meal! For our entrees, we chose to share the Thai-style pad kee mow with beef and the pineapple fried rice with pork. The pork option comes with both pieces of pork as well as Chinese sausage. The sausage was so tasty paired with the sweet pineapple and savory rice - next time I'll ask for just this and leave out the pork pieces. The pad kee mow, which we asked for spice level 2, was so flavorful, and we loved the texture of the wide noodles. There was a good amount of veggies, and both portions were large, so we took home leftovers. We're already planning what we'll order when we return!

This is our go-to Thai place and as usual it hit the spot. This time around, we got the panang curry with tofu and chicken pad see ewe. The curry was the stand out -- sweet, savory, and tangy. We've gotten food from here a few times now and have yet to be disappointed!

Thai House is always a great choice and it seems like they keep all of their locations up to a great standard. The service is always excellent and unlike many other restaurants they never mess up your order. Their curries are my favorite but I feel like you can't go wrong, no matter what you choose. The have a really good Thai Tea as well. Tons of parking at this location and that always gets extra points from me!

I'm not sure why I waited so long to visit Thai House. The stars just never aligned properly and that's a shame. It was a mistake. I should have come here years ago. Looking through the great reviews, I see so many fellow of my Yelp friends and I'm sorry for not listening sooner!Warm service when I arrived and was immediately seated. I was provided a menu and a moment later, my waiter arrived to take my drink order. When he returned, I was ready.Red curry with chicken. Medium spicy. White rice.Soup and spring roll were dropped off by one runner and five minutes later, my lunch arrived. A good portion, plated and presented nicely. I took a taste and there was just enough heat to make it interesting but not too much. I probably could have gone up another notch and still enjoyed it.A perfect sized portion for lunch, I cleared it all. It was delicious. A great balance of chicken and al dente vegetables and curry sauce. The rice was perfect for soaking it up and ensuring no waste.I love that they present the check with the credit card machine at the table. Perfect.Thai House goes into my rotation for lunch.[Review 19494 overall - 3408 in North Carolina - 464 of 2023.]

While sitting in the parking lot behind Thai House, I witnessed an unsettling incident involving one of the employees. I saw a worker throw a box and trash into the bin, then reopen it to pull out a wire basket, which looked like the kind used for frying food. The basket appeared old, rusted, with wires hanging off it. He shook out its contents and walked back inside with the same basket he had just pulled from the trash.Concerned about what I had just seen, I asked to speak with a manager. Instead of getting a manager, the staff requested that I come inside the restaurant. Once inside, the host insisted I tell her what the problem was, despite me repeatedly asking to speak with a manager. Eventually, I was told no manager was available because they were off for the day. I explained what I had witnessed, but the host showed no concern and simply told me to return the next day to speak with management.I walked out the front door to go return back to the location to record a video of the area. Interestingly, the same host came out and wanted to have a conversation only after seeing me recording. At that point, it was too late to resolve my concerns.
