My daughter and I Love the food at Taco Lopez! We drive to Thomasville from High Point just to get tacos and papusas it's a small place, with great food and the people who run the restaurant are top notch! I highly recommend Taco Lopez!

Despite the "Taco" designation right there in the name, you'd be foolish to think this place is just another Mexican restaurant. In reality, there is a full complement of several Latin American cuisines on offer here, along with some dishes that you would find on a typical Tex-Mex menu. Most of the menu is in English, or has an English explanation, but there were a few items that were only in Spanish that I had to look up quickly on my phone. That was okay by me, as most of it is easy to understand if you've been to several hispanic restaurants in your life.But what is important here is the food, and the food is absolutely delicious, as well as unique enough to make me drive out to Thomasville again sometime so I can try more things!I went with a seafood dish "Camarones al Mojo de Ajo" (Shrimp in a buttered garlic sauce) and let me tell you... I usually avoid shrimp when I am inland because you can get quality and/or quantity issues, but NONE of that was present here. I was presented with a very nice compliment of plump and fresh tasting shrimp in a truly delightful flavorful sauce. I gobbled down every morsel and then proceeded to mop up the sauce with some of their very fresh corn tortillas.My wife had some of their papusas on recommendation of some of the other Yelp reviews, something neither of us have had before. Another big hit. Varieties of different flavors inside a beautiful and pillowy shell. We enjoyed all of this with some of their fresh guacamole, not a mistake at all!Thomasville is a twenty minute drive for us, and there are many many restaurants with one form of southwestern cuisine or another much closer to us... but this place stands out. We will be making more special trips just to come here. Guaranteed.

So, the person who thinks that this is a Mexican restaurant would be incorrect. Although they do serve tacos, the star here is the Salvadoran food. We went on the recommendation of the owners of the Copper Still Taproom right around the corner and we were not disappointed. It is a little place that could easily be called a "dive" or "hole in the wall" but don't let that deter you.We tried the pupusas and they were wonderful! They have the normal cheese, bean and cheese, chicharron and cheese, etc. but they also had one called the Floroco. It was kind of a squash blossom and cheese pupusa. It was great as was the one with jalapeño and cheese. There is no alcohol served there, but you can get a horchata or tamarindo so it will be ok.Like I said nothing here is fancy but it's worth a try.

We come here occasionally, and every single time it is so good. Laid back mexican "diner" atmosphere, and the food is just really good. The meats are always hearty and fresh. All meals are put together really well, and the price is great. Love this place.
