On our way to Rockingham, North Carolina, I had a craving for ice cream. I asked my friend if we could make a stop for it. Sure why not, she said. I located Sweet Carolina ice cream on Yelp, which had a 4.5 average yelp rating at the time. We were 20 miles away from Aberdeen and was going to pass thru the area anyway, so we ended up making a pitstop for ice cream. We actually lucked out and found parking across the street from the ice cream shop. It was around 1:30pm, when we entered the small shop. It was a cute little shop in a small nondescript town. My entire experience here at Sweet Carolina ice cream shop lasted about 20 minutes from entering and exiting. I wanted chocolate and managed to get the large single serving container / cup / cone they had. After all, I was on vacation in North Carolina on a September 2024 trip. I also picked up the tab for my friend, who helped me with the driving and transportation. She ordered something non dairy and I forgot what she ordered. The prices here were fair and definitely was the highlight of my road trip from Raleigh and Rockingham, North Carolina. The ice cream shop was small but contained the importance and essence of ice cream. They had the more popular flavors here and what people wanted, but I wanted chocolate. The sweet treat that most people enjoy on a mid summer night's dream. Or in my case, a sunny afternoon in September. The service here was staffed by what I thought was either a high schooler or a local college student. The service was friendly and was quite pleasant to talk to. Either way, Sweet Caroline ice cream shop was a nice rest stop in Aberdeen on the way to my final destination in Rockingham. The overall experience here at the Sweet Caroline ice cream store was fun and nice. It was also a blessing that they were here when it was on the way to Rockingham versus driving out of the way. Good thing cravings happen when they did, then I wouldn't be craving ice cream more that day. The ambiance was good and quiet. It felt like a small neighborhood ice cream store (it is) but with the modern touch. My friend and I ended up eating our purchase outside the ice cream shop since we had time to kill and it was ideal to eat it before it started to melt. For the most part though, it was definitely a good rest stop that day trip to Rockingham. I enjoyed the chit chat between my friend, me, and the staff at Sweet Carolina. Talked about our road trip and me sightseeing from Hawaii. It was cute and fun at the same time while ordering up some delicious ice cream. I guess they were in the downtown area of Aberdeen, but with small towns like this, any commercial area would likely be considered "downtown". And so, if you're in the area or passing thru and craving some ice cream during your travels, consider Sweet Caroline ice cream as your destination for all things ice cream and sweet treats.Sweet Caroline ice cream shop is located physically at 108 W Main Street, in downtown Aberdeen, NC. They accept major credit cards as well as cash. You might want to check on the time of operations before coming here, since they can close early on certain days of the week, if you're not careful. As far as parking goes, my friend and I lucked out on a parking spot literally across the street and pulled in. Maybe because it was a Friday afternoon but still a lucky find. There was a several spots there and several facing the ice cream shop and other shops adjacent to it. I'm not sure if Aberdeen has its own public transportation system there or whether it connects to either Charlotte's or Raleigh's public transportation systems, but best bet would be to try to find a way to get here. Most ideal would be a rental car or a local friend who won't mind driving you. Or if anything, uber and/or Lyft would be helpful as well in getting to know and savor this brand of ice cream Sweet Carolina ice cream is known for. If you want to get your ice cream fix and love North Carolina, best bet would be to journey to Aberdeen, North Carolina and pick up some chocolate or whatever flavor you fancy. 5.0 stars for the overall experience. Friendly service and definitely a welcome treat during my road trip to Rockingham, NC.Support local!A+

We love love love this ice cream shop! Salted caramel malt is where it's at! Hand dipped or soft serve and so many flavors. Love the old time ice cream shop feel of this spot in downtown Aberdeen.

I loved the waffle cone with chocolate on it! It must be homemade because the cone had great flavor. I liked my ice cream too-cookies and cream and salted caramel, but I would go back just for a cone!

Get the lemon sorbet. Unmatched. Anywhere. The maple pecan was also great and hubby liked the peanut butter chocolate one. Love the young man who works there and how he interacts with customers. He is so personable. Cute shop and great service.

Yeah, don't go here. The ice cream tastes exactly like breyers- just with a little freezer bite. They don't make their own ice cream and they're not even reselling a brand like Hershey's that they can publicize. It's basically mass made ice cream that they resell in ugly styrofoam cups. The place is ugly. The ice cream is overpriced. You're kind of just paying for the fact you're going into an ice cream shop but I wouldn't even want to come here on a date. I'd recommend if you're trying to get ice cream for a child and you just want the convenience of it or the feel of taking the kid somewhere. If you're an adult and care that the ice cream is trash I wouldn't bother.

Kids were really looking forward to ice cream all day. Rushed to this place. Only to find it closed 10 min before it's closing time. Thanks for ruining our night.
