Good, Not GreatSPECIALS: Went on Wednesday because their website advertises bogo sushi. When we arrived and asked about it, we were told that was pre-covid, the website hadn't been updated. The correct specials were posted on the window. FOOD:Ordered hibachi chicken and shrimp, Huntersville Roll and New York, New York rolls. My mom ordered a spicy tuna roll. Chicken in hibachi chicken wasn"t good but the rest of the hibachi was. Our rolls were quite large and tasted good. The spicy tuna roll was small and had a strange tasting red sauce on top - wouldn't order again. AMBIANCE: Very basic inside, was empty, rolls come on a large tray, everything else is in styrofoam. Maybe better for to go. PRICE: $45 before tip for the two rolls and hibachi not bad, but more than I expected because they didn't have their advertised bogo deal. SERVICE: The man who I assume was the owner was nice and our food was prepared within 10 minutes.

Pulled up on a Friday evening with my frisbee boys and it was pretty quiet- more people seemed to be doing take out rather than eating in.You order at the counter, and there aren't servers. However, the service was great! The owner was a personable guy and gave us free drinks. He also brought the food out to us outside.Food itself was okay- got the hibachi chicken and shrimp. Presentation definitely wasn't wonderful, but neither was the food. I was surprised that they didn't have any greens on the platter and the carrots were way too sweet.Pricing was on the more expensive side.

I saw a previous review that said they have the sweet glazed carrots so I checked it out for lunch.Place looked nice on the outside but be damned on the inside.Homie working the front, can you say hello when someone walks in? Can you not be so short and terse?This is a place where you get it to-go. Chose to dine in and was thinking things would come out on plates...WRONG.....gave us our food in togo boxes. No big deal. Entire restaurant was a mess honestly. Sticky tables, shrimp sauce was being portioned in the back of dining room but was just left sitting out for God knows how long. Terse guy at the front at some point ended up back there portioning out more sauces. Do you not have a prep space in the back? Their doordash/uber tablets all sit out in the already small dining room. Just a disorganized location.The food waa quick, the food was hot. Nothing wow about it. Chicken was good, shrimp sauce was iight, rice was good. It satisfied my craving for hibachi but i don't think I'll go back.I've had better hibachi and there is in CLT5.3/10 final ratingFood 4/5Atmosphere: 1/5Service: 3/5

Quick lunch stop, sushi was excellent! So many to choose from. You can get a roll loaded up with tons of flavor, a simple roll, or a roll served hot! I had the warm chicken teriyaki one and I should've stopped there before it was a big roll! Definitely worth the money based on size! Great location as well & can't wait to go back! Thank you staff for getting my order right and for quick service!!

Sushi is average. Prices are fairly-decent considering the previous. However, there a few staff members that should not be representing that business. There is a tall disheveled-looking manager that is constantly sweating and rushing everything from your order to other order so that he is dripping sweat on the Togo bags. There was also a blonde hair sushi maker female who was extremely rude and about forgetting tempura flakes, even yelling over the owner with rude remarks. For an average sushi place, I would suggest getting your customer service improved , especially in Huntersville - where as we grow there will be alternatives locally to this location.

Well this was a terrible decision on my part. I wish I would have believed all the awful reviews. I hate leaving bad reviews but this one was a must. I had the seaweed salad and Joanny roll. The salad was disgusting. It smelled awful and was warm. I just threw away. The sushi roll was edible but in no way was it actually good. I won't be back.

Small establishment but the food is so good. Fast and easy to order online and even in person.

Good hibachi and quick service ! The portion are a good size for the value and fresh ingredients There are not a lot of tables for dining inside but plenty of outside tables

Honestly one of the best Sushi places I have been to in a while. Food was delicious, the owner Sunny has been there 12 years and he has such a passion for what he does. There was so many great options on the menu, I couldn't decide but the staff recommended the volcano tuna roll and it didn't disappoint. Great spot for lunch or dinner. Definitely will be coming back.

At 2 PM on 2/22/24 I ordered a Rainbow Roll. We all know what that is, right? California roll covered in tuna, Yellowtail and Salmon. "Covered" being the operative word. I invite you to google "Rainbow Roll" and look at anything that comes back. What you will see looks just like the photo of it on Sushi Star's menu. I invite you to compare what you can find on Google, or even Sushi Star's own menu with the photograph attached here. This cost me $11.45 plus tax. This is not a budget price, so I am not expecting a budget roll. I tipped up front $5.00 because the place was deserted and she was by herself. What you see in the photo was what she brought me after being tipped half the cost of the food she made. I brought it back, explained how lame this was, showed her the photo on her own menu and asked how she thought this compared? Her only response was "I'm sorry Sir." No offer to make it right and at that point I was too pissed to ask as that was even more lame than being brought this rip off in the first place. To the owners of Sushi Star: CONGRATULATIONS! You managed to save about $1.50 food cost on me today, I have eaten there in the past but NO MORE, and I am advising-with evidence- that people steer clear of you. How much are you losing just from me not coming back alone? STEER CLEAR OF THIS RIP OFF SPOT.
