Spring Lake Country Club

I'd been two years since my first visit and my last review so time for an update.It was Black Friday and I joined a group of 16 friends, mostly from Gaston County.We had a 1030a time, good thing I called ahead, there was a one hour frost delay. There were carts and guys waiting all round the #1 tee box and there was no started in sight. I walked in the ProShop, there were 2 guys standing there and I asked one guy was there a starter. He turned to the other guy and he said year, I'm the starter, what can I do for you? I just turned around and walked out.It was stacked up and backed up all 18 holes.It was about 49 degrees and the wind was gusting to 30 mph, then the sun went behind the clouds...brrrr.I will say they have made a lot of improvements from 2 years ago and the greens were in really good shape. They have cleaned up the dust from the clubhouse. For food options, there are hot dogs but they stock a full liquor selection.I had a rain check from my first visit which was a really bad experience.The guy looked at it and said 'this ain't no good'. I said why not, he said it's expired.There was no expiration date on it and when It was issued, I asked if it expired and I was told it did not expire.So much for customer service and building good will.

Great day on a challenging well maintained golf course. The greens were small and got your attention because of the undulating surface. Great bang for the buck!

Good value for golf and driving range. Not too crowded.Convenient to get to. I would go back.

Horrible golf course. Dead greens, no character to the course. Just look at the beautiful tennis courts on hole 16

1 Word UNBELIEVABLE!!!!! As an out of towner from Dallas, TX I was craving to play a round of golf. While at a family get together in York I asked around to see where the best places to play was and Springlake came up EVERY...SINGLE...TIME. This course absolutely blew me away. These greens roll as pure as Augusta... that's right AUGSTA!!! This is hands down the best course I've ever played and I've played my fair share of PGA tour courses. There is no doubt in my mind a Ryder Cup, Presidents Cup, US Open, or PGA Championship maybe even all of them will be played here one day!

A lot of people will only post a review if it's a negative one. With that being said, this course is located in a small town (York,sc), has a pool with a newly installed pool top. Friendly workers, and an amazing owner who loves this place more than anything. A golf course that has been family ran for many years and just overall breathtaking.. take the time to come out and play and get to see the natural beauty of this place and it's people for yourself!

If you appreciate course conditions, well kept greens, friendly staff and forgiving green fees and not well maintained golf cart paths then this golf course is for you! Have golfed here for 5 years after retiring from the Army and never disappointed.
