There is sauce on the table-a smokey/peppery this sauce-yummy. SummaryWe were surprised at the value for the portions!! Outstanding service!! Love this place-i think we will soon be regulars!

Classic good BBQ. Popped in this place while traveling for work. Awesome mom and pop feel to this place . Ordered some food to go and service was quick . Took the pulled pork meal back to the hotel and enjoyed every bite . Prices were also great !

A very good example of Western NC/Lexington bbq. Both the sauce and the slaw (red slaw, no mayo, thank you very much) are a little heavy on the black pepper which works well. You can't get outside brown on the chopped bbq but it's well cooked and flavorful nonetheless. Standard bbq sides. The hush puppies and onion rings are both keepers. I'm less sure about the Brunswick stew. A little thinner than I like but the real problem was the onion. There was just too much of it and it gave the stew an odd flavor. Service was very friendly and decor is Southern auto racing chic. There's a good mix of pickups and nice cars in the parking lot. Potions are VERY generous and well priced. Definitely worth the stop.

Traveling south for a vacation and being we are from a rival state of BBQ we decided to try Southern BBQ on the 4th of July.Our server was very hospitable and had a witty sense of humor which we very much appreciated. We ordered a Chopped BBQ sandwich, Sliced BBQ, Hushpuppies, Onion Rings and 2-Kids Burgers. Hushpuppies by far are the best we have had with a hint of sweetness. Onion Rings well fried. Kiddos Burgers were just that. The Chopped BBQ was by far better than the Sliced BBQ and needed sauce as it was a bit dry. I'd give it 3.5 but can't and we did go on the 4th so giving the restaurant a break on my sandwich as they were slammed with to-go orders. Definitely a place we would try again-especially the Hushpuppies.

Great consistent Lexington style BBQ. The staff is always friendly and attentive. I eat there weekly.

Situated on the I85 corridor, right off the Hwy 221 exit next to QT. By far my favorite go to restaurant. I eat here 4 to 5 times a week for lunch and sometimes for supper! Ive ate BBQ and Ribs from all across the country, and I always end up back at Southern BBQ. The restaurant is run by a small family that eat, sleep, and breaths BBQ. They really make you feel like family when you come in to eat. If you arent feeling BBQ that day do not be afraid to try their fall off the bone ribs, Hot dogs, BBQ chicken, or cheese burgers.
