Soul Towne Kitchen

We decided to try this place this evening. Too tired to cook.‍We both ordered the wings and our sides were:Mac (not great) it was a little dry and tastelessGreens - they were great!Mashed potatoes and gravy - my husband enjoyed themCornbread- mediocre We would try them again. The food was very hot and fresh even after doing a pick up order.

We tried to try Soul Towne Kitchen. They advertised live entertainment on Fridays between a specific time. We decided to try something new, so we dressed up and headed out. We get there, there were several cars in the parking lot. When we entered I was immediately smacked with heaping helping of heat. It was hotter inside than it was outside, like REALLY. There were people seated at tables, looking dehydrated and too lifeless from the heat to tell us to run. No one was talking except with their eyes. They were dressed in their Sunday's best though! There were a couple of people standing (either waiting to be seated or for take out) it was so much to take in, I could not make heads or tales of it. No one was behind the counter/ register. But what I did see was a poorly written sign saying something to the effect of the cameras are watching you and to not go into the kitchen for any reason. If that was not welcoming enough, a man appears from the kitchen, looking hot and highly irritated looking at us very annoyed saying, "yalleatnharoordintogo". I didn't understand what he said so I asked him to repeat what he was saying and I was finally able to make out, "are you eating here or are you going to order to go". Maybe this was harder to make out because I was expecting an actual "hello", did not get that. We asked about the live entertainment and we were told the told flatly that Rocky had a better gig. No sign, no I'm sorry, no Spotify music free with ads. Just that the artist that was advertised, had a better gig. Or in other words, there is no music tonight get over it.At this point, I'm looking a the restaurant; not very clean and hot as an oven. All the patrons are dressed up in their Easter suits ready for music and a good time, yet so hot all they can do is signal get out with their eyes. The host acted as if he clearly wanted EVERYONE to leave. So we decided to leave. By the sign taped on the wall, and the look of the patrons, all the people waiting on food, this guy may have been cooking, taking orders, seating people and checking them out (or not...). Not sure. So as for the food, I didn't see any. I saw people, I saw bad service. I saw sweat running down my back, but I saw no food. I did see a menu (that was sticky and needed to be cleaned), the menu was traditional soul food, but again, I can't comment on the food, I saw no food, I smelled no food and because the sign said don't go back into the kitchen, I saw no food, and I probably never will. You always want to support a new place and want them to make it. This place may need a consultant and some time.

After a long day of working from home I placed an online order for this restaurant a couple of nights ago. I received a pick-up time of 7:20 PM. I arrived at the restaurant around 7:25. Since there was no one at the hostess station or the bar area I stood by the door. I noticed 2 different women walking back and forth through the restaurant and they saw me but not one acknowledged me until about 5 minutes later. Had I not already paid I would've left right then. I think around walkthrough number 5 or 6 one lady screamed across the floor, she would be right with me. When she finally came over she told me my order wasn't ready yet...so now I'm even more perturbed. I sat down and waited and waited and waited. I was thinking to myself "this better be the best soul food ever with service this bad". I finally received my food about 10-15 minutes later. I got home, opened the platter and I was super disappointed. I ordered yams, macaroni and cheese, and perch with a side of cornbread. The yams were burnt to the point where there were charred pieces in my container as if someone scraped the bottom of the pan and collected all of the burnt pieces just for me. The macaroni and cheese had no flavor, the perch was SUPER salty, and the cornbread was below average. There was an attempt to add corn to the cornbread mixture but that was a fail. I ended my night with yogurt and grapes. This is a new establishment from what I understand and there were some great reviews on other forums but they clearly cannot be trusted. Never again.

Great portions; the food is seasoned to perfection and the customer service is outstanding!!! A must try for great soul food in the area!!!!

Really good food!! Got my food to go and it was still very warm and fresh! Definitely recommend this place

Really a hit or miss the grease was old that my chicken was fried in they don't really plate your food well my Togo plate was horrible coleslaw was all over my food I just give up on them today was definitely my last meal with them

This food was cooked just as we ordered and delicious. She accommodated our church group WITHOUT hesitation a few weeks ago and we have been back once a week since. Chicken, burgers, home cooked vegetables... all great.
