Sir Edmond Halley's is a hidden gem tucked behind Park Road Shopping Center--almost giving off speakeasy vibes with its discreet location. If you park in front, just head down the stone stairs next to CO Noodles, or you can park in the lower-level lot for easier access.I went for their Monday night trivia, and it was a blast! The place was packed, the energy was great, and the trivia itself was fun and engaging. It's definitely a solid spot for a casual night out. I just had a salad and an Aperol Spritz, but from what I saw, people were really enjoying the classic English pub fare like fish & chips and pints of beer.I imagine their patio is a perfect hangout spot in the summer for a laid-back drink or snack. Overall, a cool spot with a lively atmosphere--especially on trivia nights! Definitely worth checking out.

Sir Edmond Halley's was the first English Pub in Charlotte and they have stayed true to that. They were actually the first place in Charlotte to have decent beer on tap. In the early days, they had several selections imported from England on draft. They still have Old Speckled Hen and Guinness but many of the other taps are occupied by great local craft beers. They have a full bar and make nice drinks. They also have a decent wine list. The food is very good featuring some dishes you wouldn't expect to find in a British Pub such as Jamaican Jerk Quesadilla (highly recommended!). Another dish I am fond of is the Lemon Chicken. They also have fantastic wings and burgers! Now for the traditional Pub dishes:*They have the best Fish & Chips in town!*Their Guinness Stew is authentic and very tasty! Their Bangers and Mash (Mild English sausages and mashed potatoes) is authentic and quite tasty too. Many people really like the Shepherds Pie and it is a good representation of the dish but not the best I've had. Of course, the best that I've ever had was in a small family owned pub in Ireland so that's not all that surprising! In the traditional British pub style, this place is very chill and is a great place to talk with friends over good food and drink. This place has been around for years and has stature in the evolving craft beer market in Charlotte. It is not to be missed! Cheers!

This was a cute place! We came here on a Thursday night and it was pretty packed! I like how it's kind of off the path, so it's more of a IYKYK kind of place. We got a table quickly and our server was friendly. So nice to get a cold Irish beer. We had the mussels and fried zucchini as our apps. Both were very good. For our meals, we had the fish and chips and the veggie plate with sweet potato fries. Everything was great, it was fresh and hot. Service was a little slow, but I know it was busy!

A more traditional British establishment that feels pretty old school compared to restaurants in the area. Food was decently priced but not very flavorful. Great little pub scene with cheap drinks. Tucked behind park road shopping center, it has plenty of vegetarian options and traditional British foods. It's a Charlotte staple that has been around for a while, so if you're a local- gotta check it out. If you're just visiting there are better options.

I marked my review down a star since my last visit because I ordered something other than the fish & chips. Pro tip: never order ANYTHING except the fish and chips. Those are very good. The rest of their food is meh. Hubby got the chicken pot pie which didn't even look like one. It was basically soup with a pastry dough on top. I got the special for that night, steak - asked for medium- with chimichurri sauce and sides of asparagus and potatoes au gratin. The steak came out very well done and dry. They only put chimichurri sauce on half of the sliced steak, which could have helped. The potatoes were good. The chowder I ordered didn't have much flavor and was very small. Service was ok, she seemed rushed. I like the atmosphere in the main dining room. The other rooms are brighter and I don't like them as much. However, they do have good beer and good fish & chips. Just make sure you stick with that.

Nice little English pub on the backside of Park Road Shopping Center. Inside, on the day we visited, was sort of dark and dreary, and it took a bit of doing to find the wait staff ... but then we were early on a Tuesday evening. We ended up sitting outside and dining al fresco ... which easily accommodated our stroller. Food was good and represented a variety of pub grub. Prices a bit high for portion size ... especially the fish and chips ... but they seemed to be selling like hotcakes. The best meal at our table was a mixed green salad with the salmon addition. The salad was excellent and the salmon was very nice and reasonably priced. Good place for pub grub and a glass of wine ... and they have half-priced bottles of wine on Wednesdays and Sundays. Give it a try ...p

I just recently found this little spot by my house and the first time I had the fish & chips which was lovely . This go round I had the bacon burger & it was better than I expected ! Sometimes when ordering takeout they skimp on the food but I was pleasantly surprised . The burger was cooked well & the only thing I needed to add was a little salt to the fries .

Really lovely dinner out on a random Wednesday! We had the fish and chips and Sheppards pie. We had quick and friendly service and I was able to order a cold Irish red beer. The fish and chips were great. Tartar sauce wasn't my favorite thing but the malt vinegar and Ketchup were good condiments. The Sheppards pie felt more like a Sheppards pie soup. If I rated as a soup, it was a gravy consistency with a good amount of flavor but the potato topping felt very hard to dig into. Overall, we had a nice dinning experience but we will try something else on the menu next time.
