Seaboard Brewing, Tap Room & Wine Bar

This is our go to spot in Matthews! The wine selection is great, and their beers are varied and I haven't had a bad one yet. The food options inside are only small bites, which are fine, but the pizzas sold outside are stellar, so definitely order from the outside kitchen if you need a meal. There's also tons of dog friendly patio space for when the weather is nice!

The spot was super cool. I love that they have wine slushies and they had a huge selection of beverages. My favorite was the pizza spot out back. Such a great spot to stop if you're in Matthews. This would also be a great date night location.

I love Seaboard!This is a great spot to grab a drink right in the heart of downtown Matthews. This past weekend, we enjoyed a glass of wine at Seaboard then walked to another business on the same street for dinner! I just love nights like that. Their wine selection is updated and maintained by their sommelier who is so knowledgeable. I meant to grab his name. We also did a wine tasting with him on a Tuesday for $10 which was so much fun. I have never eaten food here so I can't speak to that but the charcuterie boards are made to order and look fantastic!They have a Wine Club membership for $50/month includes 3 bottles of wine, a monthly pickup party, and other discounts as well! All in all, I highly recommend Seaboard.

7/12/24 The ladies requested samples prior to purchasing a bottle from the male bartender inside. We sampled the Pinot Grigio Bocelli and Txakolina Zudugari, but settled on the Huia Sauvignon Blanc. The bartender was accommodating but was far from inviting. Various beers were also ordered as well as a frose. I preferred the peach rose to the watermelon as it was just a bit less sweet. The female young bartender outside was bubbly and friendly. Food n/a. We didn't eat but I saw people eating tasty looking pizza from an attached kitchen outside.Service 3 stars. The bartender inside could have been a bit more helpful. Ambience 4 stars. Extremely casual, especially outside with picnic tables

Beautiful interior. Many great drafts to choose from. Attentive bartender. Would be five stars if they stepped up their food game, but not at the cost of worse or less beer.

The wine was yummy. Buuuutt... the service and experience needs work. **For POC connoisseurs only**First vist. I have to admit my review is coming from a POC POV, so may not be relevant for all. But umm yikes. The minute I walked in I got stares and looks from the staff. No one greeted me and the ONE black girl was the first to speak and give me the run down. After my party trickled in, we paid for double tastings ($10 x 4 pours), was told our server David would be at the table shortly. David never showed. I went back to the front to let them know we were ready to get started (20mins later) and finally the same ONE BLACK employee eventually came over to start the tasting. My friends and I made the best of it and the wine helped but no no no. I won't be back anytime soon. Shame, because the wine was good. Truly disappointing. More context: I'm newer to Charlotte and haven't explored much of Matthews. However, my party was quite familiar with "Downtown Matthews" lol. I guess I had to see and feel for myself but bleh. So sad that racial discrimination is still so prevalent and in your face sometimes. Experiences like this one is a constant reminder.

Seaboard is a neighborhood taproom/bar joint with attached pizza kitchen (The Exchange Pizza Depot). Interior has high top and some bar seating - outside is a large streetfront patio with well seasoned picnic tables and a side/courtyard with more seating. Seaboard has a great selection of local and regional beers and the wine bar is nice to have as an alternative. Service is step up at the counter, friendly and efficient. The adjacent Exchange offers salads, a few frilled cheese sammich options and some excellent wood fired pizzas ordered from a window at the small blockhouse at the back of the courtyard. Great for people watching both walking through the town center or patrons swimming in their drinks, this is a very good choice if Moo and Brew is too full or not your thing.

We come here on a Friday night to enjoy the spring weather in downtown Matthews fall in joying a few local beverages. The wine and beer selection was pretty big, anywhere from bocks, stouts to ipas on the beer side, and virtually any wine you want, they have it. The patio area is pretty good, with 2 Pizza places right nearby and a cigar shop right next-door, and lots of other walkable options. The atmosphere was relaxed with all varieties of people enjoying themselves on the patio and inside at both the bar and tables. You can even text your order to the wait staff, which I thought was really neat. It was only missing a wow factor think. The prices were very high for what we got, so I think that brings it down a star.I will surely be back when visiting the area.

First time coming here and it was a great experience! My husband works at a brewery so we were excited to taste something different than from his work. I had the tigers blood and it was very good. Not too sour but some unexpected flavors that I loved. We had the charcuterie, we got the pick 7, with extra baguette. It was plenty of food and it was all super fresh and delicious, the strawberry preserves were my favorite part! Definitely recommend for a fun date night. It has a nice upscale and darker atmosphere that's perfect for setting the mood, but also seems fun for a night out with friends!
