Scoop n' Swirl Homemade Ice Cream

Josh & Julie are awesome! They have true southern hospitality with friendly and attentive service. As a a first-time visitor, they took the time to guide me through the menu, offered lots of helpful recommendations and generous samples. The genuine enthusiasm Julie has for their business adds an extra layer of joy to the overall experience. and Carter is pretty cool too! :)Kid-friendliness: They have Beanie Babies on display and kid sized servings are awesome! The bright colors make a great kid-friendly atmosphere.

So here's the scoop (the stupid pun intended)! We stumbled into this cute ice cream joint on our way home...and possibly thanks to Covid, there was no other customer. In fact, there were hardly any cars in the parking lot in this entire Crossroads Plaza strip. For a weekend night, it was quite sad.Anyway, the place is very perky with bright pink decor and seemingly clean...with very visible Covid safety precautions in place. For instance, in addition to masks, there was this plexiglass between us and the staff member. Also, they only accept credit cards.I randomly went for the Hot Fudge Sundae in a Waffle Bowl...and my husband had a large order (2 scoops?) in a Waffle bowl.As expected, their homemade ice cream was delicious. It's fresh, just moderately sweet, smooth and creamy...all good things!! My husband absolutely loved his ice cream (think a mix of Vanilla and "Sweet Cream" flavors?), so he's definitely a fan.Sadly for me, it wasn't a slam dunk. Although the Vanilla ice cream tasted really good, it wasn't quite the "Hot Fudge" Sundae that I had hoped. The girl that made this just didn't quite do the job of putting in sufficient amount of Hot Fudge (or the Whip...or Nuts!). It was more like a little drizzle of Fudge, and what little of it was all on the bottom of the cup (??). She also left out the nuts, and actually the Manager who happened to be talking to us pointed that out to her. She simply made a sorry looking, lackluster sundae...and it wasn't cheap either. For both ice cream w/ Waffle Bowls, it costed over $15! BTW, the Waffle was pretty good too...not as good as Jeni's Splendid, but better than most.This staff member, probably a trainee (??), was also very shy and/or quiet...and just would not speak up. I had to ask her 5-6 times to repeat herself. She literally whispered behind her mask (and the plexiglass).On the positive side, the Manager was very friendly and helpful. Like I mentioned, he even caught her mistake (leaving out the nuts) before I accidentally walked out with my dismal looking, near fudge-less Sundae. Overall, I liked this place alot and thought their ice cream flavor was great! I was just VERY disappointed with the Hot Fudge Sundae. I'll probably check them out again in the future...but think I'll skip any special treats and just go straight for simple scoops of ice cream.

Nice family owned parlor. They had a lot of different flavor. I went with coffee. I loved how it still had a coffee flavor but wasn't to sweet either. Just as a heads up they are only taking cards.

Scoop n' Swirl tops our list as the best ice cream in the Charlotte area. Certainly, the city has a lot of good place to get a cone. But this place has the right balance of friendly service, great quality and flavor and pricing that's not jacked up because of Instagram popularity. Don't let the strip mall location fool you. They do ice cream right! The establishment is clean and colorful. We met the owners during our first visit and they are very sweet. They shared how the business came to be and assured everything is homemade (which you can definitely tell by the flavor). I highly recommend a visit. If you're in Charlotte, it's worth the drive outside the city!

I stumbled on this cute ice cream shop while door dashing one day. I couldn't resist and took a bite as soon as it entered my hands lol. I'm obsessed with chocolate and peanut butter so I jumped at the chance to try peanut butter blast with chocolate dipped cone. The chocolate isn't overpowering and the Reese's pieces gives it an added crunch

I came here before when it was Maggie Moo's and boy was this an upgrade. Their flavor selection is incredible. As someone who doesn't like chocolate, I really appreciate their variety of non-chocolate flavors. They also have some pretty unique flavors. I sampled all of their seasonal flavors which were delicious. I ended up going with the banana and peanut butter instead. You can really tell that they use all local fresh ingredients. The topping selection is also pretty big. The person working there was incredibly friendly and helpful. Seeing as I have only found two other good ice cream places in Charlotte (Two Scoops and Golden Cow) and this one is way closer to where I live, this will be my new go to ice cream place. I highly recommend coming here for some amazing ice cream!

Flavorful homemade ice cream in a mom and pop styled ice cream shop. The owner was helping us pick out our ice cream and was very friendly. It's good to order a flavor and add a topping where it is mixed together on a frozen counter top (similar to Coldstone Creamery).

Had to write a review right away. This was some of the best Ice cream i have ever had. The ladies working were so nice, I believe they are all family and own the place. They told us what their favorites were and we tried them and they were great. They asked about where we were from and we talked about that for a bit too. They were so friendly. You have to go and try this place out if you are near here.

Our family visited the Scoop n' Swirl for the first time as a celebration for my daughter finishing a summer math course! She did all the work and found this place which was 40 minutes from our house and well worth the drive!They had an amazing assortment of flavors, the employees were incredibly kind and the milkshakes and ice cream were some of the BEST we have EVER had! We would give Scoop n' Swirl 10 stars if we could and will recommend to family and friends. We also love that they offer such unique desserts to go such as ice cream cupcakes, ice cream pizza, and of course ice cream cakes! A perfect treat no matter the weather! We can't wait to come back!
