SBH BBQ

Got to share this place in Travelers Rest - not kidding now, I take my barbecue smokey and tender so this place is Nirvana!!Some serious ribs, brisket and double cooked crispy fries did the trick to put this place on my favorites list.Craving it all so I'll be eating there regularly.

No frills, just delicious BBQ! Located in a strip mall the place has indoor and outdoor seating. Ordered the brisket and ribs. Both were good but my favorite item was something I did not order! They gave me a sausage and it was amazing! Even better than the meats were the sides. Cornbread was fresh baked and delicious, the sweet potato dish was amazing, and the poblano cream corn was made with a crème brûlée sugar top, talk about next level. My only criticism would be they need to use a better rub on their meats. Brisket had that great BARK we all love but wasn't seasoned well. Same with the ribs. I need to introduce them to MEAT CHURCH rubs. Maybe they will see this review, google Meat Church, and use their rubs?

The only thing and I mean the only thing keeping this place from the full five stars is that they are out of chicken and ribs again for my second time coming here. I believe that says a lot about how good the food is here because if it's sold out every day then it has got to be great. The other food I've had here has been so so it only stands to reason that that would be as well. I'm hoping one day to personally confirm myself but it will not be today.

So tasty!!! We rely heavily on Yelp reviews so we stopped on our way south from PA and this place did not disappoint! Friendly staff, clean dining area and great brisket. Service is fast too. We'll be back for sure!

So updated review of my five star review. Still five stars. As always, I try to judge a review against what the establishment itself states as the goal. This place is a made to order establishment. Nothing frozen, always fresh. Pork is pulled, not chopped, so the difference is in quality. Some reviewers have failed to understand the mark of standard here - this is not another run-of-the mill BBQ place. It's made to order championship BBQ at your doorstep. So, they guess at demand, cook hoping for the best match for supply vs demand, and sometimes get it wrong.Tonight, ran out of pulled pork at 6:15 PM. Unfortunate but, in demand. Smoked 25 butts last night, hit with a large lunch demand, an uptick from "normal" and got shorted on some orders.Same deal on lunch wings.Point being, for this type BBQ you can't show up with a McDonalds mentality. Nothing wrong with McDonald's but don't compare your fast food experience with a customized championship BBQ plate that is hand pulled by a pro!

Food is good but over priced! I'm a pit master and they are gauging the customer. Service is good as well as the ambiance!!!!!!!

We were looking for a place for some good barbecue that was not too far from the highway. We had a long trip between Mississippi and Virginia. We were pleasantly surprised when we tried this place. The meat was very tender and tasty, and to add with three barbecue sauce for over the moon, the staff was very friendly and helpful and we really enjoyed the experience.

Went to Travelers Rest location at 515 on a Saturday and they had no ribs. Guy at register not very nice!

Food was pretty good. Atmosphere not amazing, but fine for BBQ with some outdoor seating on a deck (next to noisy road). But only 3 stars because 1) They were out of ribs at 5:30 on a Thursday! What BBQ restaurant runs out of ribs?! 2) They charge a "to go" fee AND a "hospitality" fee on top of already high prices. Who does that? Just feels sneaky. 3) I ordered ahead and there's no one really here, but my order took 50 minutes! Overall, my first visit and not won over wondering if they'll have meat (see pic from their store) and feeling less than loyal when fees are added for no reason. Build it into your prices! Clearly a small business that doesn't understand the world is competitive.

Amazing again! Try the firecrackers, it's a jalapeño pepper stuffed with smoked pulled pork and cream cheese then wrapped in bacon and smoked. They are so good I'm regretting not ordering two! Lol
