I was walking around downtown Statesville when this place caught my eye with their sign for Sancocho. What a treat on a chilly winter day.The interior is surprisingly large with ample seating for groups big or small. The employees are all very friendly and welcoming. I enjoyed a delightful bowl of their sancocho which is a really tasty Latin American stew. The stew was paired with rice, tostones, and a small side salad. Everything was SO good. I really enjoyed this meal! You should check this place out! They also have a bakery with loads of delicious looking treats but I was too full from my delicious lunch to try them but next time!!

Columbia Bakery is now gone. There is a new owner that has updated the place and so far the food has been good. Baked goods can be had along with hand helds like potato puffs and empanadas. The empanadas are filled with potatoes and beef or chicken and made with corn.Three days in a row I came here for empanadas while both are good beef is a personal favorite. The beef is super tender and moist on the inside. Do try the sauces that come with them and figure out which one you like.Pechuga En Champinones/Chicken breast in mushroom sauce. The chicken breast (two) is thinly sliced then grilled served with a creamy mushroom sauce white rice and plantains. This dish was tasty but could use a bit less char to keep it from drying out.ENTRANA A LA PARRILLA/Skirt Steak. It is served with vegetable rice and plantains. This will come to you on a cast iron platter piping hot with peppers and onions. Make sure to give a temperature and don't forget the churri sauce it adds so much flavor to the meat. Apparently word has gotten around because there have been plenty of people coming in and out of these doors on all visits. Sabores Latin Cuisine Grand Opening will be next week.

Not a far jump off 77 and well worth the jaunt into Downtown Statesville! Adorable little restaurant with super friendly staff. You can grab a quick bite to go or enjoy a sit-down meal. Open for BLD. I was there in the am and grabbed a lovely roasted coffee and a number of pastries. I must admit I am not that familiar with Columbian food or pastries so I bought a bunch to try. My absolute favorite I believe was called the Papas Rellenas. Potatoes and shredded beef mixed around half of a hard boiled egg then coated in dough and fried. For those of you familiar with Irish food, it's like colcannon with beef and egg but then wrapped in dough and fried, what's not to love about that!!! They have beef and chicken Rellenas, you should get both. Oh, and they come with a lovely spicy green sauce! Second favorite was the Pandebono (cheese bread), a soft pillows of cheese bread, what's not to like about that! I tried a few other variations of the pan de bono, the very round bunuelo I believe it is called, and the flatter almojabana (possible name) all of which were very delicious. Just go and get them all and find your favorite! You won't make a bad choice unless you don't choose enough!

Friendly service with a varied menu for breakfast brunch lunch or dinner. We really enjoyed the latte, or cafe on leche. The coffee is fresh and delicious. The in-house baker offers a great selection of pastries and breads for every taste. We will return. Glad this place offers a full breakfast everyday.

What a great find! While at the Statesville Wine Tour, we found this surprising gem. The manager is delightful! He delivered samples to us while we were enjoying the outside dining area along the street. The Pandebono (cheese bread) was hot and delicious and the Empanadas were so flavorful. We never would have ventured into a Latin cuisine restaurant, so we are so happy he came out with the samples. We can't wait to go back and enjoy a full meal. If the rest of the menu is as good as what we had, this place will be jam packed when the word gets out.
