The Beautiful Russian Chapel
No product has a closer relationship to its raw material than wine does it to its vineyard, and at Russian Chapel Hills Winery.

The views and our hostess were wonderful, however the wine was awful. We did a full tasting, the only decent one was the Kagor. The others had an off nose to them and a metallic after taste. I wish them well, but none of their wines were to my liking.

Such a beautiful and peaceful stop, very laid back casual atmosphere on the way to Hendersonville or Asheville. The views are beautiful and it is such a nice escape. Today I tried their Mosaic wine, red, not sweet but more of a balanced taste, I would serve it with poultry or meat. The muscadine wine was also nice. I got a bottle and I also got some local honey as a gift. Remember to view the chapel!

Was advertised as open on the website. We got there and it was closed. Don't think we will try again.

Well we actually did not go inside and will do that next time. We arrived and the only table open was in full sunlight so we left to try it again another day. Will update one we try the wines. The place had the feel of going to someone's home for a backyard party

First of two wineries we visited recently while in this area near the NC/SC line. Friendly staff, we were served by the assistant winemaker - he was able to tell us about the history of the vineyard (established back in the late 90's) as well as the more recent russian owner and influence. The Russian Chapel in the center of the vineyard was beautiful, shipped over from Russia and reassembled in the vineyard. Wish was could have hiked out to it but we had limited time. I was impressed with each of their wines, white, red and only muscadine. Feeling was remote, mountain vineyard, relaxing (outside deck), shady overlook of the vineyard and chapel.

The gate upon entry is beautiful but... We could not get help from the one person working today. She was busy chatting with someone. There wasn't many places to sit. They do not offer a Cabernet on the menu. I would have asked except we could not get service. And the landscape needs a great deal of attention. Don't waste your time. We literally left because we could not get service.

Ken and I had a small retreat at Tryon Horse country and had planned to visit this place in advance. We walked in to a lovely view of the vineyard and a most pleasant atmosphere inside the main hall. Sat down and were welcome by our sommelier Kevin.

This place is amazing! The wine is simply the best! We did a wine trail from Charlotte to Asheville and there was a resounding group response of Russian chapel hills as the best tasting wine!! The grounds and chapel are amazing and the muscadine is so unique. It's a red wine drinkers' white. It's definitely worth the trip!

Curious if this winery was even operational. We've lived in the area for a few years and haven't been, although we've attempted a drive-by visit on several occasions, it's been closed. The website provided on Yelp (www.russianchapelhills.com) doesn't seem to be functioning. The review by Irina S. from 11/12/2022 shows pictures from 2018. I called the phone number, (828) 817-7260, and a man with a heavy accent stated the winery is open Thursdays to Sundays from 1:00 PM to 6:00 PM. Good to know.
