Found this little place while I was looking for another restaurant. The menu declares that this is: Home of The Original Rufus Burger. Apparently having a burger named for you is not unusual in this area. At Chris' Drive In down the road in Siler City, there is a Rollie Burger (the Original Rollie Burger, I assume) named for a cook there. The Rufus Burger is a good, greasy small diner burger, pretty tasty. The chili dog here is good as well, even though it does not appear to be named for anyone. The chili is flavorful, and there could be more of it on the dog; the bun is nice and soft; and the wiener is of the red Southern variety.A sign on the front further states that this place has the best Barbecue for miles, and since this is the only place to speak of between Siler City and Sanford, it probably is not an outrageous claim. The Barbecue sandwich comes in small for $3 and large for $4, and the small is a 2 hander, have no ides how you would go about eating the large one. The chopped pork is tender, but it has a mustard based sauce, and I'm not fond of that type of sauce.Friendly folks, decent service, kinda funky - worth a point of opportunity visit.

Small little towns usually have the best diners. Goldston is no different. From friendly staff, good country diner fare of burgers and 'red' hotdogs to full plates of rotating specials ranging from pork chops to steak, all tied up in a Pepsi Antique collector's dream. When near by, stop for lunch, you won't be disappointed.

In all honesty this isn't four stars for all places to eat throughout the state, but....Rufus' is a great place for Goldston and we are lucky to have it. Service is always friendly and the food is served quick. I recommend the meat and vegetable plate for a "home cooked meal" lunch or grab a burger with chili and slaw. They are perfect back country small joint delicacies. Fries are hit or miss. Onion rings are really good. You may sit on a scratched table and bench and there be termite damage on the window sill. If that freaks you out you do not need to eat here. But if you want a genuine small town quick lunch with real wait staff and fun chatty locals this place is hard to beat.

Yumm! I had basic burger from here, but it came with slaw in cup on the side. What great idea slaw on a burger! It was delicious! My brother got 10 hotdogs so I assume there good too. I don't think he ate all of them himself. This maybe the best place to eat in Goldston.

I am from the Goldston/Bear Creek area and now that I have moved away, there isn't anything in this world I wouldn't do somedays to have a Rufus Burger!!!!! :) I still haven't found a country diner atmosphere anywhere near Fayetteville that can satisfy my Rufus' cravings. Locals are here all the time (mainly because, where else is there to eat in Goldston? lol) and to catch up on the latest gossip. LOVE LOVE LOVE this place!
