This restaurant is a mixed bag. However, overall the 3.7 star Yelp average is probably too high. Most of the problems with this restaurant are easily fixed. On the positive side, this restaurant is in a beautiful historic building. It is better to enter from Trade street to avoid getting hassled by building security when you enter through the Tryon entrance. However, the Tryon entrance lets you enjoy the historic features of the building. The sashimi here was excellent. The salmon and yellowtail were large and good cuts. Not sure if they were frozen, but they tasted good. The eel was about average, thin, but decent sized piece and not over-sauced. The wok dishes of Singapore noodles and broccoli with no meat added were just ok. The noodles were a little soggy, seasoned well, and a little spicy. The broccoli was way over-sauced with a sweet glaze that the possibly predominantly American clientele may enjoy, but was too much for our taste. Besides the way over-sauced broccoli (probably for all wok dishes) one of the main issues was the unfriendly service. The man who served us had a really bad attitude as did the woman seated us. Perhaps they were having a bad day or customers are often rude to them, but we were not and neither were the other customers we observed. At 11:00 for lunch on a Tuesday they were deserted when we arrived and the place quickly filled up over the next 15-30 min and became quite loud. Being from SoCal where we have and are used to high quality and authentic not only Asian, but also other types of foreign foods, we would likely not eat here again. However, those who like sashimi only or Americanized Asian food may enjoy this place--just beware the potentially indifferent to rude service.

I ordered pickup for lunch and walked from my office. By the time I got there, I was surprised that my order was ready all within the 10 minute walk. Quick and easy! I got the lunch special which includes two maki rolls and a house salad. I chose to get the crunchy roll and spicy yellowtail roll. Nothing crazy, pretty basic rolls. I would have liked equal ratios of fish to rice in the spicy yellowtail roll as you can see it's mostly rice. I don't normally order cooked rolls but I wanted to try something different and I enjoyed the crunchy roll... more than the other roll. (Made with shrimp tempura, avocado, and cream cheese)It was nice that they threw in a salad with the lunch special however the ginger dressing is not what you get at most other places, this is more of a mayo based. The sushi wasn't bad but don't expect the best of the best. All for $13, I would say that is a good deal. If you want sushi for quick and easy, this is an option.

This place is an affordable spot for a lunch outing during work.I got Combo A, the two sushi rolls: spicy salmon and regular salmon. Both were good and tasty! It comes with a salad. The lo mein wasn't bad! Lunch potion size but filled me up. The Singaporean noodles were good too so I would pick either or for noodles! Service was fast during their lunch rush uptown! Ambiance was okay! Nothing crazy.I will most likely come here again in the near future.

I absolutely love this place. I have taken all of my family to Thai establishment. Even though it's a eatery that I frequent while at work, I have come here several times in the evening to eat here. The dish I love is the garlic chicken. Oh so good. The owner/manager always knows what I want and it always comes out the same; hot and delicious. If you like Asian Cuisine, you must try this place! The pricing is very reasonable too!

Very slow food prep and service. Was busy but not overly busy yet took 45 minutes to get our meal. Sushi was good but not exceptional nor worth the wait. Had to ask for refills multiple times while waiting. They never asked us if we needed drink refills while we waited

My friend and I ordered takeout from here, and it was DELISH! I went with the Leap Roll and the Cherry Blossom Roll (per the recommendation of MANY reviews) and loved them both. They were both hearty rolls, well-prepared, and very fairly priced. Would definitely return!

We eat here on a regular basis as the food is consistent and enjoyable. My go to item is the cherry blossom roll however I enjoy trying various items on the menu and have yet to find anything that I did not like.

Spectacular. Just spectacular! This place has made it for over a decade in uptown Charlotte, which has been a revolving door for restaurants. It's quaint, and no frills, except for the food and service. They just grind here. One of the best sushi spots I've ever been to. Brandon, the manager, runs a tight ship.Go here!

i ordered chicken teriyaki for lunch, it was horrible. Chicken is not marinated, it is hard and fried rice is not even fried. Will never go there again.
